[Bug 500502] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 + Ubuntu Studio: LMMS lmms_0.4.6 ppa-3_i386, either sound not working, or LMMS freezes when i test one sound
Hi, I can only offer you some advice as who to talk to http://lmms.sourceforge.net/community.php or specifically try http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/lmms/ did you use the ubuntu-bug lmms command in your terminal? It may be the ppa has a bug. I use Ubuntu 11.04 (not studio) and LMMS 0.4.10 and it works fine. You might try to upgrade LMMS to 0.4.10 do you use ALSA, or JACK??? there may be an issue with the version of non LMMS files you are using. some users lose the Sound/Video icon in the menu in Ubuntu 10 and up, so if you upgrade Ubuntu be aware you will have to run it from the terminal or add the desktop file manually -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/500502 Title: Ubuntu 9.10 + Ubuntu Studio: LMMS lmms_0.4.6 ppa-3_i386, either sound not working, or LMMS freezes when i test one sound To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lmms/+bug/500502/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 626622] Re: daily maverick live cd won't boot with acpi on
I have the same problem. I have had to revert back to 10.04, because every newer version requires me to boot with acpi=off. NO other option would work. I tried every possible one, I found. Compaq Presario R3000. I have tested older versions of Ubuntu to see if there was a problem with my comp but I can run Feisty, and Hardy just fine. I can also run Lucid Puppy 5.25. I can reinstall another version to provide more info if needed. But I cannot run my system without acpi all the time. [Bug 903961] [NEW] Kernel regression.... boot param acpi=off now NEEDED
Public bug reported: Currently running 10.04 and no boot param needed. from 10.10 and onward I have needed acpi=off, which is of course a bad idea to run a system without acpi. I have tried numerous boot parameters and none work consistantly. acpi_osi Windows 2006 (2001 SP1/SP2) worked occasionally. This affects other distros as well. Lucid puppy 5.25 works perfectly, but the current slacko puppy does not. all ubuntu derivatives are commonly affected, as well as debian. I have tried running some other live CDs of others (Arch, etc..) all with the newer kernels are affected. This is related to other bugs 626622 633596 and probably more than that. Maverick is where the issue began. I am absolutely sure it is the kernel because of running non Ubuntu OS with the later kernels and needing the param acpi=off. I would like to use the modern systems for my computer, as they have much better features, and some of the newer programs are something I really want to use. Any other information needed I will provide Thanks ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: linux-image-3.0.0-14-generic 3.0.0-14.23 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-14.23-generic 3.0.9 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-14-generic i686 AcpiTables: AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24. [Bug 633596] Re: blank screen on bootup with HP Touchsmart tm2t laptop
I can confirm this bug also occurs on my Compaq Presario-R3200-PF153UA-ABA 2.6.35-28-generic #49-Ubuntu i686 GNU/Linux acpi=off is the only option that will allow me to boot... I have tried various methods as well the OTHER problem is that when shutting down the computer, I have to manually press the power button to turn it off. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/633596 Title: blank screen on bootup with HP Touchsmart tm2t laptop -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 824231] [NEW] Software Center doesn't show LMMS in Sound/Video
Public bug reported: If a search is done in the software center for lmms, it is not in Sound/Video. When installed it must be run from terminal (or attached to panel w/ a launcher) I believe this developed in the upgrade to Natty. In Maverick the software center listed it in the proper category, and installed lmms in the Sound/Video portion of the Application button. This program is an excellent substitute for commercial drum sequencers, and would benefit many Ubuntu future users to find it listed clearly in the appropriate section. [Bug 903961] Re: Kernel regression.... boot param acpi=off now NEEDED
I have tested the Quantal ports to precise with it, and still not working however I will boot into it and run apport-collect -p linux 903961 when I have the opportunity. Currently I have been able to run precise with the OLD Lucid Kernel (which makes it run slowly and makes it somewhat useless...) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/903961 Title: Kernel regression boot param acpi=off now NEEDED To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/903961/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 903961] Re: Kernel regression.... boot param acpi=off now NEEDED
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected precise running-unity ** Description changed: Currently running 10.04 and no boot param needed. WORKAROUND: From 10.10 and onward I have needed kernel parameter acpi=off Which is of course a bad idea to run a system without acpi. Ok, That is more info for you!! I changed the 'needs-upstream-testing' to 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream-linux-3.5.0-6-generic' I obviously am testing the quantal kernel in Precise, as I thought it may have been fixed WAY up stream, but this isn't the case. The problem developed in the switch from lucid to maverick. I have wiped the hard drive and reinstalled. I've tried numerous OS. [Bug 903961] Re: Kernel regression.... boot param acpi=off now NEEDED
Oh, ok... well I will download the latest non quantal kernel and rerun the apport command. Before I commit to bisect the kernel, is there someway I can test it without causing my computer to hang during the boot process? or some ultra secret thing i can do to get out of a frozen and locked up boot process and simply reboot back to grub. [Bug 903961] Re: Kernel regression.... boot param acpi=off now NEEDED
I have never bisected a kernel before, so I am checking out your recomended reading, and I have the latest precise 3.4.0-030400rc6, installed (rc7 only contained the 'all headers' file so I will only test rc6) I also downloaded the last lucid 2.6.33-020635rc1 and first maverick 2.6.33-02063306-generic to narrow it down and find the regression. I really don't know anything about bisecting, except the little I have read so far. Hi, did you upgrade to 13.04 while it was still in Beta? This situation should not happen in a normal upgrade process. 12.10 has lmms 0.4.10. 13.04 has lmms 0.4.14. [Bug 1249175] [NEW] toolbar gets in the way of content
Public bug reported: This is a usability bug. I am using Ubuntu 13.10 64bit on the desktop (not phone). I decided to see how the webbrowser had progressed, and reinstalled it and tried to use it. Obviously, there is a lot of work that will need to be done to make it ready for the desktop, and quite a bit to make it ready for the phone as well, however I discovered when there was something on the bottom of the page, it was VERY hard, or occasionally impossible to click it, as the toolbar will pop up when I click down there, rather than the link I was trying to get to (duckduckgo.com, the bottom right hand link) It seems that the toolbar should push the screen up (or something similar) in order to make those tiny links possible to click/tap. [Bug 1251545] Re: lmms package depends on wine
I am not sure that this is actually a bug. But it is true. I am not entirely sure that this is something that really needs to be fixed, though. Can you give me some really good reasons why this behaviour should be changed? There is nothing inside lmms to install VST support, nor would it be wise to add it (as LMMS runs on Windows as well and wouldn't need wine), so the end user might have a harder time finding it (though it could be put in the recommends). Also, if this needs to be implemented would you be willing to test it? This bug cannot be fixed for Saucy, but can be fixed for Trusty. This is because Saucy has already reached release, but Trusty has yet to get to the feature freeze (which means no new programs, and very few major changes are allowed). [Bug 1251545] Re: lmms package depends on wine
Have you experienced this particular bug? I am assuming by make-installed you mean building wine from source using make install. I have already started working on your proposed fix, as I am building a version for trusty, and I am going to try to resolve the ugly icon issue for this LTS (the icon looks terrible in the dash because the rules file builds an xpm icon for the older menus... simply an artifact from lmms being abandoned in Debian for the past few years). Once I get it built for trusty successfully, and test it I will upload it to my ppa, and I would really appreciate it if you could test it. This way if the new version comes out, it will be very simple to build it from upstream source with the new fixes in place. Please let me know if you are able to test it, or if you would like to help in any way. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1251545 Title: lmms package depends on wine To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lmms/+bug/1251545/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1251545] Re: lmms package depends on wine
Great!! I am also working on getting the icon to be a better size for Unity. Which DE do you use? I will most likely test Unity and Lubuntu (my 2 favorites), so if you use Xubuntu/Kubuntu that would also help (sometimes large icons are displayed oddly in some DE) for making sure the icon doesn't look bad, especially since Ubuntu Studio uses XFCE. I can test the lmms-vst package on my machine. Ok, I just created a recipe, and sent it to the build farm. It should be ready in about an hour. It is building a ppa for saucy and trusty, so I suppose you can use it in saucy. But testing it in both would be really nice. I haven't tested it yet, but it built fine, so we shall see if it worked... I am not sure if the VST plugins work or not... so I will check that. [Bug 1232539] [NEW] settings don't automatically update in fresh install with /home in separate partition
Public bug reported: I had expected the settings to update automatically on a fresh install. However when I booted into my freshly installed Ubuntu 13.10 (still officially unreleased) the settings were wacky. This is because, although it was a fresh install I keep my /home partition separate from the / partition where Ubuntu is installed. There should be something in the installer to allow me to: a.) upgrade and keep my /home partition the way it is while updating the nessicary files on my /home partition b.) have a script run in the background while installing to make sure I end up with a sane configuration once installed. c.) using a different directory for each new install, or renaming the old directories though this is less desirable than the previously mentioned solutions. I did install Ubuntu Studio and later install ubuntu-desktop (as I like the huge preinstalled AV software and lowlatency kernel, but preferr Unity as my DE). I preferr to do a fresh install each time, rather than upgrading because this minimizes cruft and the time required to do an upgrade. It might be worth examining whether or not it is more beneficial to offer an option to install with a separate /home partition anyhow, as this can minimize data loss, and make things easier for fresh installs. I work around this bug by running: `rm -rf .config .cache .gnome .gnome2 .gconf ` This seems like it should be pretty simple to run a script that converts the config files, though I am not extremely proficient at scripting in bash, etc...
