Aw: [SOGo] Thunderbird 102 support

2022-06-28 Thread John Bieling
Whoever is going to work on the update, please be aware of the switch from a flat property bag to a vCard storage:

Changes to the WebExtension API:
https://webextension-api.thunderbird.net/en/102/how-to/contacts.html

Description of the core change:
https://developer.thunderbird.net/thunderbird-development/codebase-overview/address-book#transition-to-vcard-storage

The new address book looks like so:

I assume none of the old overlays will apply to the new UI.

Thunderbirds auto discover capabilities for CardDAV did improve, so maybe Thunderbird itself is working for you already and there is not much missing anymore.

No. No specific indications. However their product is:

"SOGomail by Alinto"
Powerful business-class mail Server for organisations that are looking
for a proven European alternative.

And I don't see any indication that they will support Thunderbird. Come
to that support from Inverse was not really enthusiastic in the last
release.

As mentioned our best bet is to work to get most of this into TB itself
or a lightweight addon.

2020-07-23 Thread John Bieling

Hi,

Maybe you could publish this at
https://developer.thunderbird.net/add-ons/about-add-ons
so that also other addon developers can get aware of this.

It is still a draft and was heavily modified in the last two days. We
will send this information to all add-on developers (who are registered
on ATN) this Friday.

It will be added to DTN as soon as the related API for bootstrap
extensions is done.

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird 78

2020-07-22 Thread John Bieling

Maybe this can help:

https://github.com/thundernest/addon-developer-support/wiki/Using-the-WindowListener-API-to-convert-a-Legacy-Overlay-WebExtension-into-a-MailExtension-for-Thunderbird-78

I will add the options section today or tomorrow. There is also an API
for legacy bootstrapped extension, but if I remember correct, sogo was a
legacy overlay extension, but have not looked lately. The guide for the
bootstrapped API will need a few more days.

This is intended to get compatible with TB78 with minimal efforts, but
of course it is not a long term solution. After the initial update, we
will send out little update-steps to get rid of the legacy parts one by one.

I've spent some time on this yesterday and it'll be quite complex to
adjust the extensions so they work with Thunderbird 78. Most of the
difficulties is coming from the GUI parts that we were changing using
overlays.

It'll take a few weeks before we are done.

Office 365 still supports ActiveSync. Nothing changed there. The
Administrator of a Office 365 tenant however is able to disable EAS for
his instance. So that could have happened.

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird Plugin

2018-09-03 Thread John Bieling
I just want to shed some light onto "TbSync" which has been mentioned in
this thread.

Until a few weeks ago, it was a plain ActiveSync AddOn, but with the
sogo-connectors missing support for Thunderbird 60, one of my clients
asked me to add CardDAV support. So I did. Last week its description
changed and is now officially supporting CardDAV.

I think users of the SOGo groupware should stick to the
sogo-connector/integrator, because TbSync is "just" following the
sabre/dav specs, but does not do any of the special stuff for SOGo. It
does however support shared resources with read-only rights.

TbSync works a bit different from sogo-connector: Users do not need to
know the URLs, TbSync uses the discovery service to find all address
books and calendars and lets the user select which one to sync via UI.

The CalDAV sync is delegated to lightning, which means it has the same
problems when it comes to syncing calendars of different users on the
same server. My CardDAV implementation does not have a problem with that.

Best regards,
John

Given that with the built-in Lightning and with CardBook I can also
work with SOGo's calendar and contacts, I see no advantage in the
SOGo connector. In both cases, I need to manually add the SOGo
calendar and contacts to Thunderbird with the SOGo CalDAV and CardDAV
URLs and account data.

Odd. You should not need anything but the password with SOGo.

Or did I miss something about the SOGo
connector?

I think so. Even in a small company the automation provided with SOGo
connector is a must.

If you are just an end user and not admin, you are right.

These ldap conns are used to authenticate any sogo related http/webdav

Is it possible to tell ldap to release these connections after a

Is it possible to switch to a socket-based-communictaion?

Thanks for pointing that out, there was a leak in the error path of

Re: [SOGo] SOGo not releasing tcp spockets?

I investigated the problem further. I dumped the output of netstat
before and after I restarted sogo. Before the restart (running 12 h) I
had 280 conns (steadily increasing all day), after the restart I was
back to 40.

The diff shows that almost all of the persistent connections, which only
go away by restarting sogo are somehow *ldap* related: (VERBUNDEN =

These ldap conns are used to authenticate any sogo related http/webdav
request with the local ldap server, right? Why do they stay?

Is it possible to tell ldap to release these connections after a timeout?
Is it possible to switch to a socket-based-communictaion?

Thanks for your time

[SOGo] sogo-tool does not backup contacts and agenda?

HI,

I just tried to backup my users using sogo-tool. The created backup
files do not contain any contact or agenda data, is this as expected or
did I do something wrong?

I called

sogo-tool backup test_backup ALL

If this is as expected, how do I backup the contacts of my users?

[SOGo] Which jdbc driver for postgreSQL 8.4?

2013-01-15 Thread John Bieling
Hi,

i am trying to install funambol v10(bundled) using postgreSQL 8.4 (which is
also used for sogo). I am stuck at the step Download the preferred JDBC
driver.

Do I need JDBC3 or JDBC4?
Do I need the version which supports postgreSQL 8.4 or can I use the latest
one, supporting 9.2, which will also support 9.2?

Nobody have a clue about this ?

Which ldap entry is used by sogo to authenticate against an external

Right now, sogo is trying to authenticate with 'sogotry' and I would
like it to do it with 'sogo...@domain.com'.

Using the embedded postfix as an authenticated smart relay isn't an
acceptable solution.

send that AUTH=PLAIN to support old Outlook Express clients that need
this for authentication to work (cf. http://www.wogri.at/248.html?L=1 ).

It would by nice if SOGo went the extra mile to accept this
non-standard but obviously existant line. Being RFC compliant is not
a bug, though :-)

Re: [SOGo] Multi-User Login not working reliably? Something broken?

2013-01-07 Thread John Bieling

1. Issue

If I use SOGoLoginDomains, the system authenticates the user against the
selected domain, so entering info with password of domainB but selected domainA
will result in an wrong password error. Good.

If I do not use SOGoLoginDomains, he will try both info accounts and match it by
the password - and sometimes messes up (log in to the wrong info account, if that
account just logged out). Bad - He should not allow that at all, the user must
specify info@domainA or info@domainB to log in and the system should grab the
domain from there! Is this a feature or a bug? Can I change that behaviour?

 I opened a bug report for this and provided a patch, locally tested
and considered working.

[SOGo] Multi-User Login not working reliably? Something broken?

2013-01-06 Thread John Bieling

Hi,

I have a fresh install of SOGo 2.0.3 (Ubuntu 32Bit), and performed the
setup as described in the official guide. The users in my LDAP directory
are all without the @domain suffix. For example I have two users with
uid info:

uid=info,ou=users_domainA,dc=local
uid=info,ou=users_domainB,dc=local

1. Issue

If I use SOGoLoginDomains, the system authenticates the user against the
selected domain, so entering info with password of domainB but selected
domainA will result in an wrong password error. Good.

allow that at all, the user must specify info@domainA or info@domainB to
log in and the system should grab the domain from there! Is this a
feature or a bug? Can I change that behaviour?

2. Issue

The internal system email after login is constructed as uid@domain, but
sometimes he forgets the @domain suffix and tries to authenticate
against IMAP/SMTP with just the uid. I can overcome this by using
SOGoForceIMAPLoginWithEmail , but that option is missing for SMTP.

Secondly I would like to know, why with one domain he always added the
domain-suffix, but not for the other. Any Ideas? Am I the only one?

To reset my system, I drop the database and flush the memcached, could
there be some leftover configuration somewhere else?

It seems as he only prints the last line of the reply in the logfile,

But why is he ignoring the AUTH PLAIN support? Is the answer mailformed?

CNFieldName = cn;
IDFieldName = uid;
UIDFieldName = uid;
baseDN = ou=users.cvjmbonn,dc=local;
bindDN = uid=admin.cvjmbonn,ou=users.cvjmbonn,dc=local;
bindPassword = *;
canAuthenticate = YES;
displayName = Shared Addresses;
hostname = localhost;
id = public_cvjmbonn;
isAddressBook = YES;
port = 389;
type = ldap;
}
);

I do not see many differences to my configuration. This looks like this:

sogod domains '{
 exampleserver-de = {
SOGoMailDomain = exampleserver.de;
SOGoUserSources = (
{
CNFieldName = cn;
IDFieldname = uid;
IMAPLoginFieldName = rnsMSDovecotUser;
KindFieldName = Kind;
MailFieldNames = (
mail
);
MultipleBookingsFieldName = Multiplebookings;
UIDFieldName = rnsMSDovecotUser;
baseDN =
ou=exampleserver-de,ou=people,ou=it,dc=roessner-net,dc=de;
bindAsCurrentUser = NO;
bindDN = cn=sogo,ou=people,ou=it,dc=roessner-net,dc=de;
bindFields = (
rnsMSRecipientAddress,
uniqueIdentifier
);
bindPassword = ;
canAuthenticate = YES;
displayName = Gemeinsame Adressen;
encryption = STARTTLS;
hostname = roessner1.roessner-net.de db.roessner-net.de;
id = directory2;
isAddressBook = YES;
port = 389;
scope = SUB;
type = ldap;
}
);
 };
…

I have no further special options. Neither to force something (IMAP) nor
options that tell SOGo which domains can be taken for login. I have set
IMAPLoginFieldName for each domain, which is an email address.

Sorry, if I can not really help you.

Thanks for your time!

The field

IMAPLoginFieldName

is part of the LDAP user configuration? So each user can have his own setting?
How do I get this setting into the database? Is this field part of the LDAP
user or is it in the Postgresql database? Is there such a field also for smtp?

You use exampleserver-de for the domain-name, and not exampleserver.de
why?

Thanks
John

2013-01-06 Thread John Bieling

Hi@all,

how do I report or introduce a bug for discussion? Simply writing to
this mailinglist?

Thanks

Re: [SOGo] Only the last line of SMTP answer is returned - so SOGo fails to see AUTH PLAIN - sending fails

Hi,

using sogo 2.0.3 with

250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN CRAM-MD5
250-AUTH=PLAIN LOGIN CRAM-MD5

This is not RFC compliant, if I understand the spec correctly (see
http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5321 page 33). It seems some mailservers

send that AUTH=PLAIN to support old Outlook Express clients that need
this for authentication to work (cf. http://www.wogri.at/248.html?L=1 ).

It would by nice if SOGo went the extra mile to accept this
non-standard but obviously existant line. Being RFC compliant is not a
bug, though :-)

Can we do something about it? Can we patch the source, or will that only
be done by inverse?

Are they reading this or do we have to ask/tell someone?

Thanks

Re: [SOGo] Multi-User Login not working reliably? Something broken?

To be honest? I had copied an example from Patrick Ben Koetter and adopted
it to my needs :) Maybe he may say something to this aspect. But I think you
may specify whatever you like, as it seems just to be an unique name for a
block.

It's been a while I tested that. IIRC a '.' dot led to an error. I don't
recall ATM, but I recall I changed it to '-' and never looked back again. It's
a good marker to jump to in vi. ;)

In my config (using SOGoLoginDomains-Array) that unique-block-name is
also used at the login-screen for domain selection - and not
SogoMailDomain - or is there a switch to enforce the usage of the value
of SogoMailDomainfor that dropdown menu?

Sorry for the many questions..
