Just to have that on record: I admin 2 SOGo instances. One has mostly
windows clients, but no domain. The other one only GNU/Linux clients. In
both cases the update server is crucial to deploy the TB extension. If
it disappears without replacement we would be in great trouble.

That is correct - CardDAV addressbooks are considered as local ones
since they are fully sycn'ed.

OK need to retest. I can also edit Calendar entries that come from

We also use the GPOs of TB to deploy the connector initially. So we

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird 78 Support

2020-09-28 Thread Ludovic Marcotte

Hi Lukas,

I tested the plugin a bit and noticed that I had to put in the full URI
for my username into the 'baseURL' -> http://URI.example/SOGo/dav/username/

When I stop at '/dav/' it generates garbage like
'SOGo/dav/Calendar/Calendar' 'SOGo/dav/Calendar/Contacts' etc. and when
I only use the 'https://URI.example/' it wont even ask me for a login...
Normal for now. That code needs to be adapted because of the RDF removal
from Thunderbrd.

Also there seems to be an issue with the mail address for the calendars
- it states 'nslMsgidentity: caldav_1'

That's ok.

---

2. nothing works regarding the SOGo Update Server - as Mozilla dropped
entirely the RDF code

At least with Enterprise Policy (policies.json) you could kinda set it
(to install SOGo Connector globally we already would have to use this
anyway starting with TB78)
Indeed - I've been more and more questioning the usefulness of the SOGo
Update Server.

2. it won't be possible to synchronize lists

What a bummer, a much used and wanted feature in the last version - a
rather important reason why we are in the middle of moving to SOGo
Connector.

Are there plans to fix this in the future? If not directly - by
borrowing a trick from tbsync and cardbook by using the categories? - Oh
wait
Categories from SOGo are synced to Thunderbird, but not the otherway
around for now. I still need to investigate this.

3. GAL address books from SOGo are fully sync'ed

You mean the global address books (people)? This could be a blocker - We
have more than 25000 user in there, so this wont work...or? (btw. for
now it synced only 200 of them and then stopped). On of the most
important features for us, as using ldap directly crashes TB, if the
server is not reachable (which it is only in internal network)

Normally all entries will be synced - for me it's the case. Perhaps you
are reaching other limits on your system. Ideally, on big email systems,
the "readOnly" CardDAV address book should be searchable only. I will
eventually investigate to see if I can do something about this.

Hi Christian,

downloaded the newest version this morning. Here are some observations:

The default address books like "Personal" and collected addresses" are still
displayed after installing the Addon. Cannot delete the Personal Adressbook (The local one
from TB).

Normal, Thunderbird v78 is now preventing the deletion of these.

The LDAP Directory (which is used for SOGo Auth) is in the Address book but
not as an LDAP in the Settings.

I don't understand what you mean.

I can edit Calendar entries which should be read only (saving is not possible

Works for me, I only have the view dialog, not the edit one.

Hi,

Maybe you could publish this at
https://developer.thunderbird.net/add-ons/about-add-ons
so that also other addon developers can get aware of this.

It is still a draft and was heavily modified in the last two days. We
will send this information to all add-on developers (who are registered
on ATN) this Friday.

It will be added to DTN as soon as the related API for bootstrap
extensions is done.

I will add the options section today or tomorrow. There is also an API
for legacy bootstrapped extension, but if I remember correct, sogo was a
legacy overlay extension, but have not looked lately. The guide for the
bootstrapped API will need a few more days.

This is intended to get compatible with TB78 with minimal efforts, but
of course it is not a long term solution. After the initial update, we
will send out little update-steps to get rid of the legacy parts one

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird 78

2020-07-22 Thread John Bieling

Maybe this can help:

https://github.com/thundernest/addon-developer-support/wiki/Using-the-WindowListener-API-to-convert-a-Legacy-Overlay-WebExtension-into-a-MailExtension-for-Thunderbird-78

After the initial update, we
will send out little update-steps to get rid of the legacy parts one by one.

I've spent some time on this yesterday and it'll be quite complex to
adjust the extensions so they work with Thunderbird 78. Most of the
difficulties is coming from the GUI parts that we were changing using
overlays.

It'll take a few weeks before we are done.

thank you very much for the clarification. I already read about this
extension and my hope was, that with the SOGo Connector (Integrator
part of it) it isn't necessary to manage the ACL's.

So let's hope that this add-on will be available for TB 68+ sometime.

Thanks again and regards,

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird with Connector 68.0.x - managing ACLs

2020-02-11 Thread Martin LEUSCH

Hi Markus,

SOGo Connector is only able to manage ACL for calendars and address book.

To manage mail folder ACL there is Imap-ACL-Extension
(https://addons.thunderbird.net/fr/thunderbird/addon/imap-acl-extension/)
but this add-on is not yet compatible with Thunderbird 68.

Hi all,

I have a general question regarding the SOGo Connector. In the
documentation I found this:

--- snip ---
Among the supported features of the SOGo Integrator extension, we have :
    Remote administration of folder access control lists (ACL)
--- snip ---

Does that mean, that within Thunderbird I should be able to share some
of my mail folders with other users?

If yes:

I have installed the new Connector and can, for example, see mail
folders shared by other users - no problem. Also: I can share my
calendars with other users, can manage specific access rights for them
etc. - no problem

But when I click on one of my own mail folders -> properties -> share:
I can see all _my_ access rights to this folder, among others:
administer the folder. But _how_ can I do this? I can't see any button
or something similar for this.

Is the SOGo Connector sufficient for this (and maybe is only missing
some local or [Dovecot] server side settings)? Or do I need an
additional TB add-on for this? I hope I didn't only overlook something
...

It would be nice if somebody could help me.

Thanks and regards,
Markus

P.S.: Sharing the mail folders within the webmail client works without
any problem.

all,

I have the same issue with the incomplete adressbook sync.

There is no clear pattern besides the fact that only a subset on
contacts is being synchronized.

I am using an eGroupware server that ever has been working with the
previous TB and sogo connector versions.

of those and only some of his other address books were complete. So a deleted
and subscribed all of them desperately and those with less than 200 were all
complete only the one with 4000 got stuck at some number around 200
(217,230,220 etc). There is nothing in the error console of TB and nothing on
the server in the logs. Sync just stops after those 200.
I can reproduce this if I subscribe to the address book so I don't think it is
account related.
This works with TB60 and the old plugin. That is how I got the user their
address book back. New profile on TB60 sync the address book and then upgrade.

Can anybody reproduce this? Anything I can do to debug?

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird Plugin vor Version 68

2019-12-13 Thread Alex Hoebart

Hello,

I also see something similar: fresh Tb 68 install with sogo-connector. I
see all my 4 address books, but only those with 41 and 16 contacts are
complete. The one with 450 contacts in SOGo only has 316 contacts in Tb.
The one with more than 1000 contacts initially has 0 contacts. When I
delete this address book in Tb and restart, it gets filled with 266
contacts.
Further synchronisation does not work. I also don't see any buttons for
subscribing, etc., nor any related properties like sync interval.
It seems something breaks the sync with Tb68. Anyone has experience with
this?

BTW, calenders work fine.

Regards,
Alex

TbSync supports NextCloud (or any CalDAV/CardDAV server), so that could
be an alternative.

Thanks Christian, that confirms what I thought and discovered during

According to the developer documents at
https://developer.thunderbird.net/add-ons/tb68#required-changes it is
possible to host both TB 60 and 68 versions of extensions at
addons.thunderbird.net and when upgraded TB68 will find the new
version.  However this would need Inverse to upload the SOGo Connector,
which is going to be difficult as it has to be updated manually for each
installation.

Out of interest, how are you going to handle the upgrade?  Will you
manually visit every SOGo client and upgrade machines for them or have I
missed some obvious way of automating this?

I don't have this issue. You could always share your exact site.js and
SOGo.conf to make sure (by stripping password information).

site.js (we only changed this one line)

pref("sogo-connector.autocomplete.server.urlid", "ldap.example.com");

sogo.conf

SOGoUserSources = (
     {
     CNFieldName = gecos;
     IDFieldName = uid;
     KindFieldName = kind;
     MultipleBookingsFieldName = Multiplebookings;
     UIDFieldName = uid;
     baseDN = "ou=Users,o=example,c=com";
     bindFields = (
     uid
     );
     canAuthenticate = YES;
     displayName = "Example Users";
     filter = "(status='A')";
     hostname = localhost;
     id = ldap.example.com;
     isAddressBook = YES;
     port = 389;
     scope = ONE;
     }
     );

prefs.js after sogo-connector installation in Thunderbird:

user_pref("ldap_2.autoComplete.directoryServer", "ldap_2.servers.public");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.description", "Example Users");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.filename", "ldap.mab");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.uri",
"carddavs://sogo.example.com/SOGo/dav/testuser/Contacts/ldap.example.com/");

prefs.js after the next restart:

user_pref("ldap_2.autoComplete.directoryServer",
"ldap_2.servers.public_1");

user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.description", "Example Users");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.filename", "ldap.mab");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.uri",
"carddavs://sogo.example.com/SOGo/dav/testuser/Contacts/ldap.example.com/");

user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public_1.description", "Example Users");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public_1.filename", "ldap-1.mab");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public_1.uri",
"carddavs://sogo.example.com/SOGo/dav/testuser/Contacts/ldap.example.com/");

after every Thunderbird restart, a new directory server is being added
like "_1", "_2" and so on. It also creates a new MAB file every time.
Thunderbird automatically uses the newest one in

"ldap_2.autoComplete.directoryServer" every time. The Preferences >
Composition > Addressing menu always only shows one directory server,
not multiple (see attached screenshot from the 5th Thunderbird restart).

Also, you could always remove all the junk in Preferences >
Composition  > Addressing by deleting all bogus directory services.

We do all our testing in a clean testing environment and use the
following Windows batch script for scrubbing Thunderbird's data after
every test run:

@echo off

call "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\uninstall\helper.exe" -ms
echo "Uninstalled Thunderbird!"
rem removing app data
RMDIR /S /Q C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird
RMDIR /S /Q C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Local\Thunderbird
echo "removed app data!"

Hope this helps.

Hello

Your observations are correct.
All Thunderbird Add-Ons are either compatible with Thunderbird 60 or 68
there is no way to be compatible with both.
Therefore you always have to upgrade Thunderbird, remove the old

CalDAV is handled by Lightning in Thunderbird.
It is used for synchronizing calendars with servers.
CardDAV is used by many backends for address book synchronization.
There is no built in support for cardDAV in Thunderbird.

"SOGo Connector" is such a cardDAV implementation.
The "SOGo Connector" Add-On is currently under development, in order to
make it run under Thunderbird 68+.
That is not easy, as multiple APIs have changed.
Additionally the sandboxing of Add-Ons was introduced.
Because of that Add-Ons are no longer able to communicate directly with
each other.
Therefore "SOGo Connector" is now merged with "SOGo Integrator".
"SOGo Integrator" adds some functionality like calendar and addressbook
auto discovering, managing of share privileges and synchronizing of
calendar and addressbook colors.
"SOGo Integrator" has to be manually customized before installation, and
only supports SOGo as backend.
That is the reason, that the current implementation will only run with
SOGo as backend.

Kind regards,
Christian Mack

 Hi,

I configured sogo connector plugin so that the books synchronize on thunderbird
startup and every 15 minutes, but nothing happens.

I have to manually force the synchronization.

 Hi,

Well it took longer than expected but the sources of SOGo Connector for
Thunderbird 68 are now available here:

https://github.com/inverse-inc/sogo-connector

SOGo Integrator is no longer needed.

You can basically clone the repo, customize
chrome/content/sogo-connector/global/extensions.rdf and type "make" to
have your XPI hot and ready.

There are still some glitches there and there and the SOGo preferences
options (in the new Thunderbird preferences module) are not yet working.
Since the code is available, feel free to open PRs. You can look at the
TODO file for {pers,ins}piration.

It took longer than expected because there are *a lot* of important
changes in Thunderbird 68. Also, a fair amount of cleanup in the code
happened - and much is due in this regard.

Thanks!

 As soon as it's usable yes - the merge process between the two

I don't have this issue. You could always share your exact site.js and
SOGo.conf to make sure (by stripping password information).

site.js (we only changed this one line)

pref("sogo-connector.autocomplete.server.urlid", "ldap.example.com");

sogo.conf

SOGoUserSources = (
{
CNFieldName = gecos;
IDFieldName = uid;
KindFieldName = kind;
MultipleBookingsFieldName = Multiplebookings;
UIDFieldName = uid;
baseDN = "ou=Users,o=example,c=com";
bindFields = (
uid
);
canAuthenticate = YES;
displayName = "Example Users";
filter = "(status='A')";
hostname = localhost;
id = ldap.example.com;
isAddressBook = YES;
port = 389;
scope = ONE;
}
);

prefs.js after sogo-connector installation in Thunderbird:

user_pref("ldap_2.autoComplete.directoryServer", "ldap_2.servers.public");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.description", "Example Users");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.filename", "ldap.mab");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.uri",
"carddavs://sogo.example.com/SOGo/dav/testuser/Contacts/ldap.example.com/");

prefs.js after the next restart:

user_pref("ldap_2.autoComplete.directoryServer", "ldap_2.servers.public_1");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.description", "Example Users");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.filename", "ldap.mab");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public.uri",
"carddavs://sogo.example.com/SOGo/dav/testuser/Contacts/ldap.example.com/");

user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public_1.description", "Example Users");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public_1.filename", "ldap-1.mab");
user_pref("ldap_2.servers.public_1.uri",
"carddavs://sogo.example.com/SOGo/dav/testuser/Contacts/ldap.example.com/");

after every Thunderbird restart, a new directory server is being added
like "_1", "_2" and so on. It also creates a new MAB file every time.
Thunderbird automatically uses the newest one in

"ldap_2.autoComplete.directoryServer" every time. The Preferences >
Composition > Addressing menu always only shows one directory server,
not multiple (see attached screenshot from the 5th Thunderbird restart).

Also, you could always remove all the junk in Preferences > Composition
 > Addressing by deleting all bogus directory services.

We do all our testing in a clean testing environment and use the
following Windows batch script for scrubbing Thunderbird's data after
every test run:

@echo off

call "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\uninstall\helper.exe" -ms
echo "Uninstalled Thunderbird!"
rem removing app data
RMDIR /S /Q C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird
RMDIR /S /Q C:\Users\testuser\AppData\Local\Thunderbird
echo "removed app data!"

Hope this helps.

I built and installed the extension, and noticed that, when it is

Should I add a bug, or should this issue be added to the TODO file?

Thanks for the job. We've got problems with linux clients (68.1.1) :

   TypeError: ABChecker.checkAvailability is not a function

   chrome://sogo-connector/content/messenger/startup-overlay.js:276

We don't have any query for user/password on a virgin profile. On an
existent profile, adress books and agendas are OK.
No logs on /plugins/update.php, the client never have a contact with
server, it fails before (virgin and existent profile).

Just tried to get out of that, but I can't see where is the problem.
FYI, this is what is our short updateArray from extensions.rdf :

SOGo Integrator is no longer needed.

You can basically clone the repo, customize
chrome/content/sogo-connector/global/extensions.rdf and type "make" to
have your XPI hot and ready.

I have customised the files as described in the readme [1], created a
custom site, changed the update path, the version number and the
sogo-connector.autocomplete.server.urlid
(lpref("sogo-connector.autocomplete.server.urlid", "ldap.example.com"))
and built the xpi.

Installation works, after restarting Thunderbird there's a prompt for
user name and password and then calendars and address books are syncing.

The problem is Thunderbird creates the same ldap address book after
every restart as a new one, so there are multiple entries when looking
at about:config like this:

ldap_2.servers.public.uri
ldap_2.servers.public_1.uri
ldap_2.servers.public_2.uri
ldap_2.servers.public_3.uri

It's still working, but you get the idea, why this is not optima...

Tested on Windows 10 (x64) with TB 68.1.1/69b4/70b3

Thanks in advance!

Cheers
Christoph

Another issue I found while testing the new addon for TB 68.

I created a new calender which appeared at the end of the calendar list in
Lightning.
Then I selected and deleted that calendar again, but SOGo did also delete the calendar
that was above the new calendar in the list.

Not sure what you mean...

You cannot have Calendars without Lightning - it is what provides the
calendar functionality.

I used to think I preferred having the calendar in a separate window,
but resigned myself to having it in a tab when the update that changed
that happened.

Now, I prefer it in a tab.

I don't think that preference is a good enough reason to stick with an
unsupported version of Thunderbird, but that is up to you.

> I have ca 65 calendars/task lists

How many calendars, and how many task lists?

Either way, I hope you understand, that is a huge number, and the super
vast majority of users do not have anywhere close to that many, the vast
majority probably have less than 6.

The problem is with Thunderbird.

This is a known issue, and one that is not easily fixable, because it
has to do with the underlying non-threaded code.

Because everything works on one thread, and the calendar code is not
written to throttle itself when working.

It is likely a bug related to the huge number of calendars you have, but
one that is unlikely to be specifically addressed, but may be fixed
if/when the underlying code is rewritten.

Re: [SOGo] Thunderbird 60 plugin auto-update

2018-10-31 Thread Gunnar Weissmann
Hi Christoph,

did you find a solution for your update problem?

We are testing an update from TB 52.9.1/Integrator-31.0.5 to TB
60.2.1/Integrator-60.0.0 and have the same problems like you (Errorlog:
Update manifest for sogo-integra...@inverse.ca did not contain an
updates property).

When we manual install the Integrator-60.0.0 for test purposes (we also
need the auto-update) the user-rights can not be displayed. In the TB
errorlog we found the following entry:
CalDAVACLManager.js: calendar acl entry not initialized.
So also a manual update is not possible at the moment.

A new clean TB 60.2.1 with Integrator-60.0.0 install is running without
any problems.

Who has done a successful auto-update? Is it generally supported?

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Gunnar Weissmann

Lightning (== calDAV) sync has nothing to do with SOGo Connector.
Connector only uses the authentication code of Lightning.
Therefore I assume, your Lightning is defect.

As soon as I change the category of the contact (add/remove/change a
category), it syncs successfully (any changes PLUS the category/ies).

Attached you'll find a patch which gets rid of a few errors, but it does
not fix the sync problem.

We also have an issue with the new plugins on TB60:

In the address book contacts are synced from the server to the client
but not back. Any new contacts created or modiefied do not show up on
the server. Err in console is:

does anyone else see this? Should I open a bug?

I also should mention this works fine on TB52 with the 31.0.6 plugins
against the same server.

Thank you for finding the fix.

As for the other problem. For you Addressbook sync works?

Just so I can start looking where our problem is.
