I
am not sure what he is looking for but I have used vpopmail for over 10
years and never had any problems. If you need quota then yes that’s a
different story. In the old days you could use and configure vpopmail
with OS quota (linux etc) but now with the new version you can use
vpopmail integrated function even though I have not use the quota for a
while since all my clients do pop and get them down to their client
machine so I do not have that problem but I would suggest to read the
new readme for the quota. If you do not need it then do not worry just
install follow Bill’s direction and you will be up and running in about
1 hour.

If you still need help let me know but I will be out of the country (traveling
to Italy) and be gone fo 2 weeks.

Ciao

Hello.

1) To use maildirsize files you have to configure vpopmail without
--enable-domainquotas option. Then each user with defined quota will
have file called maildirsize in his maildir. E.g.
/home/vpopmail/domains/example.com/username/Maildir/maildirsize This
file contains information about disk space usage and is updated every
time user deletes messages via pop3/imap or new message arrives. You
can read more about this method here:
http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html
http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html

2) Regarding messages w/o fields - what is in .qmail-default file in
/home/vpopmail/domains/your-domain directory? Could you post
all contents of this message (if it's not too big) here?

3) Honestly, I've never uninstalled vpopmail, but I think that if you
remove domain name from /var/qmail/control/virtualdomains  then
mail for this domain will not be processed by vpopmail. But there are
no other options for virtual domains with qmail. Vmailmgr is way
obsolete imho. Also you could try 'make uninstall' :)

Hello.

I would also recommend reading qmailtoaster and shupp.org/toaster resources as
Eric and Remo suggested.
Apart from that, I can only share my vusaged and vusagec configs,
which were working while I tested them. However, I chose to use
old-fashioned quotas, which are using maildirsize file in user's
directory (vpopmail is compiled without --enable-domainquotas option).
Please take a note that directive 'Disable' in vusagec.conf requires
patch which is available on this list in thread 'patch to disable
vusaged'.

My vusagec.conf:

--start file--

Global:
   Disable = 1;
Server:
   Filename = /tmp/vusaged.sock;
   Timeout = 1;

--end file--

My vusaged.conf:

--start file--

Log:
   Level = 1;
Socket:
   Filename = /tmp/vusaged.sock;
   UID = vpopmail;
   GID = vchkpw;
   Client timeout = 5;
               // Inactivity
timeout in seconds
   Poll timeout = 1;
   Detect client timeout = 4;
Queue:
   Workers = 10;
   Max queue size = 1000;
Polling:
   Use Maildir++ format = True;
   Directory minimum poll time = 120;
   Count directory entry size = False;
   Age Factor = 1;

--end file--

Hmm, strange. Are you sure there is no .qmail-default file in the domain directory and it is located in user's dir?
And, imho, path /home/vpopmail/~vpopmail... looks pretty strange.

And how does the message without 'from','subject' etc fields looks like? I think header lines would be enough.

As I understand, client_connect: connect failed message means that
vusage client was not able to connect to vusaged daemon.
Check your daemon and client config - is client using the same socket as daemon
does, /tmp/vusaged.sock ?
Is vuserinfo reporting quota usage without error?
However, I must warn that my knowledge is purely theoretical in this field - I
use maildir-file quota, not vusaged.

P.S.
  But this errors are not critical - your message got delivered
into mailbox. Now you should check your pop3 or imap software if
mail client is not displaying messages.

I guess you should use either
Filename =

Listen =

Try, for example, commenting out line with listen by putting // in the

Re[8]: [vchkpw] Issues with vpopmail

2009-11-26 Thread Pavel V. Yanchenko

Hello.

I would also recommend reading qmailtoaster and shupp.org/toaster resources as Eric and Remo suggested.
Apart from that, I can only share my vusaged and vusagec configs, which were working while I tested them. However, I chose to use old-fashioned quotas, which are using maildirsize file in user's directory (vpopmail is compiled without --enable-domainquotas option).
Please take a note that directive 'Disable' in vusagec.conf requires patch which is available on this list in thread 'patch to disable vusaged'.

My vusagec.conf:

--start file--

Global:
 Disable = 1;
Server:
 Filename = /tmp/vusaged.sock;
 Timeout = 1;

--end file--

My vusaged.conf:

--start file--

Log:
 Level = 1;
Socket:
 Filename = /tmp/vusaged.sock;
 UID = vpopmail;
 GID = vchkpw;
 Client timeout = 5; // Inactivity timeout in seconds
 Poll timeout = 1;
 Detect client timeout = 4;
Queue:
 Workers = 10;
 Max queue size = 1000;
Polling:
 Use Maildir++ format = True;
 Directory minimum poll time = 120;
 Count directory entry size = False;
 Age Factor = 1;

--end file--

Hi Pavel
thanks for replying. i want to explain my whole scenario so that it will be easier to suggest what should i do
firstly i configured qmail server and qmail-pop3d with Maildir format. it was working fine. and than i need to set user quotas so i googled and found vpopmail.
i installed it and created new domain, user and set user quota.
but i was getting error in running vusaged (/vusaged: error while loading shared libraries: libev.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
so i commented out Listen line in vusaged.conf file than i got this:
#./vusaged
config: using /home/vpopmail/etc/vusaged.conf
socket: listening on /tmp/vusaged.sock
vusaged: begin
controller: stage one
controller: stage two
so i think it is working fine now.

but now my problem is in log file i am getting this error:
delivery 13: success: client_connect:_connect_failed:_13/client_connect:_connect_failed:_13/client_connect:_connect_failed:_13/tcprules:_fatal:_unable_to_parse_this_line:_Received:_(qmail_4552_invoked_from_network);_25_Nov_2009_09:46:36_-/client_connect:_connect_failed:_13/did_0+0+1/
and in mailbox also, i get an empty mail without any to: from: subject and content.
vdominfo is working fine but in vuserinfo i get the same error saying:
client_connect: connect failed: 13
i dont know what should i do... i am configuring mail server for the first time and i am not so clear about the internal processes so if anyone can help me in understanding what vusaged and vusagec do (any link which have all the explanation) and what should i do to get my mails with all attributes rather than a blank mail
hoping to get any solution to my problem
Thanks

I guess you should use either

Listen =

Try, for example, commenting out line with "listen" by putting // in the beginning:

Did you try to add the link into the library ldconfig?

Looks like ld does not know where the library is.. I would add the path and then try to reinstall vpopmail to make sure just rerun it on top..

Just my 2 cents.

[vchkpw] Issues in vpopmail maildrop integration

2006-02-07 Thread Madhur K Tanwani

Hi,
I've been using vpopmail for quite some time now and worked fine all
this time.

I'm using vpopmail version 5.4.13 and maildrop version 1.6.3.

However, recently I modified the virtual domains .qmail-default file and
added this :

| /var/qmail/bin/preline /usr/local/bin/maildrop

It is since this point that I'm facing problems in delivery.

I've setup a virtual domain kr.ps.co.in as follows :
/var/vpopmail/bin/vadddomain -d /home/madhur/test_vpopmail_domains
kr.ps.co.in

/var/vpopmail/bin/vadduser [EMAIL PROTECTED]

My control files in /var/qmail/control are : (no entry in
/var/qmail/control/locals)

/var/qmail/control/rcpthosts :
kr.ps.co.in
/var/qmail/control/virtualdomains
kr.ps.co.in:kr.ps.co.in

Prior to my changes the .qmail-defauilt file in
/home/madhur/test_vpopmail_domains/domains/kr.ps.co.in was

| /var/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail '' bounce-no-mailbox
While the new file that is now,
| /var/qmail/bin/preline /usr/local/bin/maildrop

Also, I've a global maildroprc file at /etc/maildroprc :
if ( /^From:.*/ )
{

}
to  |/var/qmail/delivery_scripts/delivery_script.sh

All mails coming to [EMAIL PROTECTED], when seen in the
qmail-send's current file are seen as

delivery 1: msg 1946121 to local [EMAIL PROTECTED]

However, though the message used to be delivered successfully before,
the error that I get now is :
delivery 1: deferral:
This_account_is_currently_not_available./maildrop:_error_writing_to_mailbox.//usr/local/bin/maildrop:_Unable_to_deliver_to_mailbox./

I've been searching for quite sometime and have not much data on the net
hinting the problem here.
The site http://www.thesafebox.com/; indicates that the seekable
patch be installed into vpopmail and I've verified that the file created
by the patch are already present in the version of vpopmail i use (5.4.13).

I'm sure that many of us would be requiring to perform maildrop
filtering over mails received for virtual users and maybe the best
method for applying to all virtual users is to use the .qmail-default
file (as above). Hence I'm sure many of us here may have used some
approach here.

Hence, please could anyone explain what the problem is or best indicate
what the solution for the same is??
Maybe my approach is wrong somewhere and I'll be glad if you could point
that out,

Thanks in advance,
Eagerly waiting for a discussion on this problem,
