[vchkpw] Qmail-scanner and manteinance

2007-11-08 Thread egoitz
Hi!

I have been reading about qmail-scanner manteinance (I didn't think it has
lol) I only upgraded clamav when freshclam (that is launched once per
hour) told old version upgrade engine... and that's the only thing I did
with qmail-scanner maintenance... but have read that should too launch
qmail-scanner-queue.pl -z... I don't never upgrade spamassassin and are
the two things I launch in my qmail-scanner ... clamav and
qmail-scanner...

why should be launched qmail-scanner-queue.pl -z? don't undertand quite
well that have read over there... that sais for upgrading perl-scanner
database... what refers concretely with perl-scanner-database? and is it
advised to do any other manteinante operation (other than
qmail-scanner-queue.pl -z) ?

Thanks a lot
have a nice day

You might want to try simscan as a lightweight qmail-scanner
replacement.

Hi,

As far as I know. Nmap
only scans for ports it knows. And anyways, you don't need to scan
anything.
Just list what ports that
is listening on your computer:

netstat -aep | grep
LISTEN | grep tcp

2005-06-08 Thread BSUMRALLL

I just redid my QMail Rocks installation again on Fedora Core 3. I did a
lot more checking this time with SUIDPerl and made sure it was solid prior to
install.
Installation went error free.
QMail is receiving email and sending them to our outlook clients.
But.
Sending mail will reach it's destination, but the scanner is stripping the
header.
Email arrive to their destination as
UnknownSender and (no subject)
there was info in both those fields when I sent them!

Anyone have an idea what is causing this?

Are you using the formail utility anywhere in your scripts before the
mail gets sent?

I once had a similar problem, where formail would add an mbox-style From
header to the top of the email, which smtp servers would take as the
first line of the body of an email without headers, and then things
would get all mangled.

Re: [vchkpw] QMail Scanner 451 qq temorary problem.

2005-06-07 Thread Alex Borges

This is a common problemwith qmailscanner. Id also point you to the LWQ
way of instalation. Its by far the cleanest.

1.- This problem,to me, is associated with a faulty implantation of
qmailscanner
2.- This is generally cause qmail cannot run qmailscanner
3.- You mentioned up2date if youre using fc3/4 or rhel4, note they
have the SELinux patch enabled and running so:
 a) Make shure that upon attempting to deliver you DONT get Selinux
messages in the /var/log/messages file (this would be the most common
and confusing mistake)
 b) OBVIUSLY make shure that the uid that runs qmail* can run
qmailscanner (check the perms)

If the problem is not this one, then you should try and reinstall
again, carefully... rinse, repeat

badmailfrom doesn't allow for regex matches (I know there are patches,
but stock it doesn't allow it).

KLEZ was easily identified because of a null appended to the mail from:
line... it's that sort of operation on envelope information handling
that doesn't appear to be present in qmail-qfilter.

true, but if you're about to employ the qmailqueue patch along with
qmail-qfilter just to do regex based envelope filtering.. you should
take a look at the qregex patch:

http://www.arda.homeunix.net/store/qmail/

it allows for regex filtering on the envelope information, including
badmailto. without the need for extensive third party programs, just a
quick patch.

I don't recommend it. It isn't stable, and has high memory

Thanks Michael. So applying this

#!/bin/sh
# when QMAILQUEUE is set, all mail will be sent to the nominated script
QMAILQUEUE=/var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanner-queue.pl export QMAILQUEUE

is the piece that scans everything, like vpopmail domains with
user to user email also ?

Thanks

Dee

 Subject: [vchkpw] qmail-scanner

Hi all i've looked in the qmail-scanner list for the answer
and i'm not sure i found it yet.

i want to have qmail-scanner scan email to all vpopmail
 accounts.

i've heard there are issues but there is very little
 documentation on this.

is there anything anyone has that I can read, or any guidance.

 Cheers,

 Gary
