I agree with this. I would even upgrade myself if my iPhone is not jailbroken. Re: els app someday?
Hi Penny, Well I sure will be happy to send my player back. :) I do not often use NLS just because it is simply not convenient as I really like to use my iOS devices. In any case what will be really interesting to me is how they work the logistics of distribution, (i.e. downloading within the app etc.). I hope they do not require patrons to download the files and import via iTunes. I think that would add an unnecessary level of complexity and since companies such as BookShare have managed to make this work, I suspect NLS has some sense of what patrons do want. Re: What happened to the speaker volume control
I'm not having any voiceover volume issues on my iPhone 5 while in a call. I can hear voiceover just fine. The change with buttons are set to off. This is just my personal preference. I never had this problem on my 3 GS with iOS 6 either. In fact, with the 5 I sometimes have to turn voiceover down a little while in a call. It seems as though voiceover and sounds in general are louder on the 5. I'm trying to find that right combination of voiceover volume and sound volume. -- Earle Msn: peterson...@sympatico.ca Skype, Twitter, Facebook, and Yahoo: rowdyamerican Aim: rowdyamerican28 On 2012-09-26, at 12:11 PM, Brent Harding br...@hostany.net wrote: I just installed 6 over the air yesterday night, apparently it downloads it ahead of time because the speech quit almost immediately after I hit the I agree button, and when it came back up, all the volume was whisper quiet. I guess Ricardo must have the only 4S or maybe one of the very few 4S phones which don’t have that problem. I did a full factory restore a couple of days after I installed iOS 6 and it fixed the problem I had with the playback controls not showing up in the lock screen consistently. It also seems to have greatly improved the custom labeling problem, at least it appears to have done so since I was able to label 3 weirdly labeled buttons in the Sonos app which before I was not able to change. As far as the Voiceover volume during a call bug I still have it. It maybe that it is slightly better, I can hear Voiceover relatively well in a quiet environment, at least so that it’s useable. But I still can’t turn down the call volume very much, just to a point and putting VO volume to 100% using the rotor does not make it as loud as in iOS 5 where balancing the 2 volumes was easy to do. I have definitely reported this to Apple, let’s hope the first iOS 6 update will address a few of the more annoying issues. RE: Siri voice
Hi Reggie, What Ricardo is referring to is to ask SIRI a question and then while SIRI is talking to adjust the volume with the buttons. Ask something which will result in a longer answer, e.g. Calculate a 15% tip on a $32.48 restaurant bill. SIRI should come back and say something like Input interpretation and then give you the result of the tip calculation. Then while she is reading this out push the volume up button and the SIRI voice will become louder and it should stay at whatever level you leave it at. RE: Audible question.
Hi Allison, WhisperSync is what Audible calls their background cloud syncing operation, e.g. if you had 2 Kindles or a Kindle and an iPad with the Kindle app and were reading an eBook on one device and then switch to the other device, the book on the second device should open at the place where you left off on the first device. Basically what iCloud does between iOS devices. Since Amazon owns Audible, they are now advertising and pushing the idea that people should buy also the Audible version of a Kindle book they buy and if the book supports WhisperSync which is now stated on Audible, a person could read the eBook on a Kindle and then if they were to pick up their iPhone and start the Audible app with that book in it, the Audio Book would start playing where they stopped reading the Kindle book. Same of course should happen between Audio Books on multiple devices. SIRI should come back and say something like Input interpretation and then give you the result of the tip calculation. RE: Problem with list archives in Google Groups
So after you sign into Gmail, can you put the list address in the address bar and still be in html when you land in Google Groups? The new GG page has those links that JAWS does not detect as links and even when I routed JAWS to them and clicked, I could never tell if I made any lasting changes. Even when I eventually succeeded in bringing up a revert to old GG link, it seemed to be unresponsive to any keystroke combination I tried. And when the Settings Button finally drifted through the fog, it did not respond like a normal button either. When I finally got the Settings menu to drop down, I changed that setting but it has reverted to the New GG again today. When that message is flashing, it seems to take focus away from anything else. For me this was a huge help, since I have over 2000 movies and TV shows that I like to watch, that are already on an external HD, and I didn’t want to have to by them again through iTunes. Now I just convert the movies I want, import them in to iTunes, and I’m good to go. No paying for extra data to watch through iTunes match, no spending hundreds of dollars to buy them in iTunes store. Just spending 40 bucks for this program. And when a new version comes out, you get 30 percent off the upgrade. And for those of you who have a DVD collection that you want to rip to your hard drive, I have heard of people using handbreak for this, and even DVD remaster. Personally I have never gotten either one of those programs to work for me. A program I did have success with is called “DVD to AVI” It’s made by a company called “Leawo software” Not only does it rip the DVD for you, but by passes the copy write protection with no other apps or programs to install. Don’t know how vo accessible it is, cause never used it on the mac. Personally I haven’t bought a DVD or rented from the redbox in over a year. I use other resources not fit for this list. RE: Sorry for last message Braille displays again
Hi Donna, It depends a bit on the display, but for the most part, once you have them successfully connected, follow this pattern: When you are done using the display, lock the phone, then turn off the display. When you want to use the display again, make sure the phone is locked, turn on the display, (with some it helps to wait about 10 or 15 seconds) then unlock the phone. On Jul 10, 2012, at 11:31 AM, Amy Billman wrote: Personally, I have the impact, not the Defender. There are a couple of reasons, the most important one, being that for me, it's ugly IMO. When you have it in the Defender with its belt clip, I feel like a construction worker. I know they have all sorts of girly colors, but the style/design is just off putting. Plus, I'm careful. I take care of my phone; meaning it's either in my purse or backpack or something unless it's in use, and even then I can keep it in my pocket if I have earbuds or headphones of some kind. So for me because I'm not scaling tall buildings, mountain climbing, hiking, or diving, it's not a need. The other thing is I want my bulk to give me something useful. If the Defender for example included battery with its bulk, like the juice packs or other similar cases, maybe that would make me change my mind. But it doesn't. It provides bulk without a purpose. Now, I have a friend who is the mom of a very active six year old boy, plus she breaks stuff; a lot. For her, the Defender is a good choice and she loves it because it can take a beating and doesn't impact the phone in any way. For me, if I'm not using a battery case, I use the impact case. It's thick rubber, that the phone just sits in, with the screen exposed. I like it also because if I want to switch cases, it's easy to get in and out. I find the Otterbox a project, one that's not worth my time. Just my two cents on the subject. *smile* Amy Billman Check out my company for your screen protector and phone accessory needs! In fact, I highly recommend them. I'm just a person who is a free spirit and likes trying new things and different things to experiment. So, I'm currently using some cases which are made of a tpu rubber, this is a bit of a harder rubber, and doesn't feel like the silicon rubber that the Impact case feels like. This means less friction, but also less catching on things like in the pocket. It also means a bit of less bulk. In fact, I just got an order for 9 tpu cases which are all different colors ranging from purple, to blue, to clear, to neon yellow. They don't cover the bottom part of the screen like the impact case from Otter Box does, but it does form-fit the phone very well and really let's it shine through. The nice thing about these cases is that you can put them on and take them off with ease, yet they stay on the phone very nicely. I also like the fact that I can go back to my impact case whenever I want. The one I don't use any more is the Defender case. I finally got tired of the bulk, but again, this isn't anything bad against Otter Box, since that's the purpose of the case. -- Raul A. Gallegos How do you write zero in Roman numerals? The student will be using it with an IDevice and a Mac running OS 10 and Windows 7. JAWS is the screen reader on Windows. I want a portable display but not too small so I am looking at a 32 cell display or a 40 cell display. Please let me know your experiences. Re: Still trouble with email Can not delete mail
Sounds like you may want to go to the Apple store if you can or call Apple care if you have that and only that option and ask them what in your configuration is causing your mail to do what it is doing. There should be some setting or detail or characteristic of your provider that is causing it. On 9/30/12, Jen Colley jen.col...@shaw.ca wrote: Yes, same for me. RE: braille display
You have several good options. Note, prices are approximate. Focus 40 blue from Freedom Scientific, $2,800 or their new 14 cell which I have not seen yet for about $1,300. Humanware has their Brailliant BI series in 32 or 40 cells. 32 cells $2,600 and 40 $3,000. HIMS has the Braille Edge, which is a 40 cell for $3,000. If the BrailleNote is an Apex, it could be used as a display. Then, there is the RefreshaBraille 18 from APH, $1,700. I personally rather like the HIMS Braille Edge. Partly because it has an SD card and a mini-notepad application that allows for writing down notes without it connected to any other device. Those are really only useful if you are going to keep them on the Braille Edge as they are .brl files, at least if you want to use contracted braille. They can be set as txt files, but you can't read them on a computer unless you write them in uncontracted braille. I'm hoping they will do an update that will allow for saving the braille files as txt. I really like my Alva BC640 with speech pack, and my RefreshaBraille 18 from APH. In both cases, I like the way the brailling keys feel. RE: article: iPhone 5 honeymoon over already?
Scott, First, it's Apple, not APple. A little spellcheck for the company you reveer would go a long way. Second, the media was merely reflecting what people felt about the new iPhone 5. Aluminum by its very nature is more fragile, and it is prone to more scratching. Consumers should have known that going in, but yes, people get all perturbed when the device isn't what the older models used to be. But, as another poster has pointed out, if people want to complain, let them. By golly it's their money, and some of the sentiments may be felt by other buyers. Countering every post perceived to be negative about Apple or Apple products does nothing to change anyone's mind. Just sayin'. The reason all of these other devices receive so little criticism is because those companies simply do not have the success rate as does APple. CNET News: After just a week on the market, the iPhone 5 has owners writing up a laundry list of faults with the new device. Soon after the iPhone 5 went on sale last Friday, users started filling up discussion forums and social networks with reports of scratches and nicks on their brand-new phones. People say they've noticed the defects around the aluminum band surrounding the phone, with the issue more visible on the black version of the new iPhone. Those complaints don't appear to bother Apple. Any aluminum product may scratch or chip with use, exposing its natural silver color, Apple Senior Marketing VP Phil Schiller said in an e-mail, according to 9to5Mac. That is normal. Apple seems much more taken aback by the flap over its iOS 6 Maps app -- so much so that CEO Tim Cook on Friday took the startling step, for Apple, of issuing a major mea culpa for falling short of delivering the best possible experience. We are extremely sorry, Cook wrote, for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better. But back to the iPhone: A purple halo also seems to plaguing some iPhone 5 owners, reportedly occurring on photographs if you aim your iPhone 5 camera toward a bright light source such as the sun or an incandescent light. If you then move the camera so the light source is off-screen, a purple halo effect can be seen through the camera. That effect also shows up on any pictures that are taken. Users are also complaining of lines of static appearing across their keyboard as they type. But the problem seems to occur only when they enter their passwords at the App Store or iTunes store. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the VIPhone Google Group. It began playing. Just a stroke of luck probably. But give it a try. Nancy Nancy Badger, Ph.D Assistant Vice Chancellor, Student Services UT Chattanooga Sent from my iPhone with dictation software. Re: article: iPhone 5 honeymoon over already?
Joe, First I realize how Apple is spelled, so thank you for observing that I held the shift key down a tad to long. Secondly Joe, perhaps instead of proofing e-mails for spelling errors etc., you would do better to consider the content because obviously Joe, you failed to grasp the point I had made, but not surprised when you are more concerned with grammar etc. Joe, also keep in mind that I never said customers did not have the right to complain, so you missed the entire point. The point I made and will continue to make is that the media will look for anything to take Apple to task over. The media seems to be making a lot of the issue and from all that I have read and heard the issue is not affecting a large number of customers. Now on the other hand you look at issues surrounding some of the other phone manufacturers and you hear practically nothing. Joe let me see if this helps you understand. Media likes to make a lot of noise at the expense of the top dog. Does that provide sufficient clarity for you? And as always joe, you are entitled to your opinion which is not right or wrong; however, entirely yours. On Sep 30, 2012, at 4:15 PM, Joe jsoro...@gmail.com wrote: Scott, First, it's Apple, not APple. RE: Verizon LTE is a battery hog.
LTE is going to be a bit tougher on the battery, it's that simple. Hi everyone. The subject basically says it all. The other day, I was waiting for the bus and did some light browsing and news checking on my iPhone 5. When I got to work, I noticed that my battery had drained 10 percent from 100 to 90. I also notice that the battery drains even when I'm doing nothing with LTE available. I always clear the app switcher after I finish doing something, bluetooth is almost always turned off, and my screen curtain is always on. Furthermore, when I'm on WiFi, I don't notice nearly as significant of a drain. Do any other iPhone five users who have LTE available notice this? Thanks. So, you would be happier if it worked via an IRtrans hub and controlled more devices. Our current design will not require additional IR support, because we will be connecting directly to the cable boxes via your home's wifi / router. I originally used it on windows, and still do. But it is much more accessible on the mac. What this program does, is take your AVI, MKV, and many other formats of videos and puts them in the MP4 format soe that you can put them in to iTunes to be sinked with your I device. For me this was a huge help, since I have over 2000 movies and TV shows that I like to watch, that are already on an external HD, and I didn't want to have to by them again through iTunes. Now I just convert the movies I want, import them in to iTunes, and I'm good to go. A program I did have success with is called DVD to AVI It's made by a company called Leawo software Not only does it rip the DVD for you, but by passes the copy write protection with no other apps or programs to install. Don't know how vo accessible it is, cause never used it on the mac. Personally I haven't bought a DVD or rented from the redbox in over a year. I use other resources not fit for this list. If you'd like to know more about that, my contact info is always at the end of my messages. Hope this helps someone save money like it did me. If I understand you correctly, if you connect directly to the box in question, it will only work with boxes that allow this. This is likely a small number. Re: Television Remote for Visually Impaired
I don't know how accessible it is, but TiVo already has an iPhone app. I haven't used it much yet, but it seems to be accessible so far. How would this app compare to what TiVo already has? I've also seen apps for home theater systems from Yamaha, Pioneer, Denon and Onkyo. Again, I don't know how accessible these apps are. These apps all talk to network capable devices over the local network. I'm all for this effort. I just wonder how it compares to what's already available. I would like to easily program into the remote only the channels I watch most frequently, for example the 10-15 channels among the many dozens or more available for viewing. I also would like the option of having up to 5 channels in the Last Channel Viewed switch, kind of like the rotor options in iOS. I don't know if I'd use up to 5 channels for this purpose, but I do know I sometimes would like to have 3 or even 4 channels among which I could toggle quickly and easily. Re: article: iPhone 5 honeymoon over already?
Chris, I don't even have to troll for articles because if you red any of the tech blogs etc. (or not) it's splattered all over the news. As far as whether the media is fair or not is really not the issue. If it is news (what everyone is talking about) the media wants in on the chatter fest. Hey, for the media it is all about sales and if you don't join in on the fun, then you get left behind. And there is always a little tendency to beat up on the top dog because people have the perception that when a company is doing that well and then makes a mistake, you just gotta take em to the woodshed. You are correct in that there are more devices running android then iOS, but not at all surprising when you consider there is one APple and thus one manufacture of iOS devices. Samson is only one of several manufacturers of devices running android. Well I think enough has been said from my perspective on this topic. Re: Sorry for last message Braille displays again
Hi, Any time you need to re-connect your braille display with the iPhone or you've locked your iPhone and want it to come up and begin displaying braille when you wake it up, remember to always have the braille display powered on before you re-start or unlock your iPhone. I can only speak authoritativly about the Focus Blue braille displays, but when the displan is already on, the phone should find the display when it ues up, or is unlocked using the power butson or the Home button. As long as Bluetooth is active, the iPhone should find the braille display if it has already been paired with the phone. Re: Television Remote for Visually Impaired
Hi Lou, I find this very interesting, partly because I've wanted something like this for a while and partly because I'm making something that does the exact same thing, although my solution would need much more technical knowhow than the average user has in its current form. I think the best root for you to take is to make a device that is able to learn IR codes from any device that a user already has; this way you're not limiting yourself to any particular device like a virgin media box or a sky box. I've spent the past 2 or so years searching for a Freeview box that is controllable over WIFI or has firmware that is open enough that I can just write the functionality myself, but apart from one very old PVR from topfield which has some community based firmware modifications, there wasn't really anything that came close to providing what I (And I think you) also want. Even if you did manage to get one model working, there are so many different Freeview boxes around in the UK that the chances are that potential customers wouldn't have one of the boxes that your system works with. A few months ago, a company called Tvonics came out with some talking Freeview recorders in partnership with the RNIB. Unfortunately, just over a month later, Tvonics went into administration and as far as I know everyone at Tvonics was left unemployed. Because of this, it's very unlikely that you will be able to control these boxes without some form of device that sits in-between the box and an iPhone because the team that writes the firmware for them simply doesn't exist anymore. I mention this company because if you are working with the RNIB, it would at least to me look quite strange if a RNIB approved device such as yours was unable to work with the only widely used accessible Freeview recorder on the market which was also created in conjunction with the RNIB. The EPG information is an interesting problem although when I started developing my solution I thought it would be fairly easy to solve. Out of interest, where are you getting the EPG data from? I am aware of the radio times listings for Freeview that are available in XML, but if EPG data for *every* Freeview channel is downloaded, this amounts to hundreds of MB's of data that need to be searched when a user is looking for a program for example. In my experience, this doesn't happen quickly enough on commodity hardware for it to be a nice enough experience for the end user. I'm toying with the idea of offloading this functionality to a server which would store the listings using MYSQL and then allow access to it through an API although I currently don't have time to develop this. One thing that I found out that you might not know (Apologies if you do) is that not every Freeview box will have the same numbers for each channel - E.G. channel 4 +1 will not always be number 13 on every box. This makes it quite hard to create a program guide that changes the channel, since for it to work correctly, the user needs to manually specify the number that each channel uses on their own box. Lastly, I'll end with a big question: Why are you targeting this at blind people? There are lots of people who have multiple remotes that want something like this; even people who have a universal remote such as a Harmony will surely like the idea of being able to control their devices from an iDevice; partly because you're getting rid of the range problems associated with IR and replacing them with packets sent over WIFI which obviously has a much longer range. There are a few devices that already do this but it's very hard to find them in the UK plus none of them are overly good value; how about you make an amazing solution targeted towards the technical consumer that just so happens to be accessible with voiceover? I'd be really interested to speak with you off list about this; my email address is replacewithfirstn...@benmr.com. Regardless of what you do and how you do it, good luck!! Ben. Re: article: iPhone 5 honeymoon over already?
I also think some of this is a result of Apple's model. They make a big splash releasing an update to their mobile OS and most of their mobile devices, so there's going to be a lot of press, both good and negative. I don't think you'll have as much of a media frenzy over Android or Samsung where things are more fragmented and spread out. I'm not saying this is good or bad but just not unexpected. Like I said, they also get a lot of publicity and good press out of this as well. On 30/09/12 18:02, Scott Howell wrote: Chris, I don't even have to troll for articles because if you red any of the tech blogs etc. (or not) it's splattered all over the news. I don't spend a lot of time out there trolling around for reports on other cell phone manufacturers, so my view is mostly skewed by what I see on this list, and therefore I see a lot more news concerning Apple than I do other cell phone makers. Obviously, it's more news worthy to jump on someone on top or pile on someone who's on the bottom, and I don't think there's much we can do about it, and I don't think complaining is going to change much. It's also interesting how you'll have people complain how unfair and one sided the news media is, but some of those same people are making the same kind of unfair generalizations about the news media itself. I know Apple has the perception of being to top cell phone maker in the world, and I think this is true emotionally, but I read the other day that there are more Android devices in the world than IOS devices and that Samsung has recently passed up Nokia as the number one cell phone maker in the world. I don't see the original post below, but I seem to recall that Ford and fuel lines were mentioned, which doesn't make sense to me at all. When I think of how many stories I've seen regarding Toyota, Ford, Audi, Firestone and so on, I don't think Apple is being singled out here at all. On 30/09/12 15:28, Scott Howell wrote: Joe, First I realize how Apple is spelled, so thank you for observing that I held the shift key down a tad to long. Does that provide suff ic ient clarity for you? RE: Television Remote for Visually Impaired
If it connects directly via wWiFi this means a lot of older devices that are not network attached can't be controlled. I am in Canada and have a Bell Expressvu satellite receiver which is hooked up to my network. However, Bell already provides their own app which is quite voiceover accessible and which allows me to see what's playing, select a program and set up the PVR function of the receiver for recording stuff. My Sony LCD TV which is about 5 years old is not capable to be connected to my WiFi and I think there would be a lot of people for whom your app would be more or less useless because they have stuff that isn't network or WiFi capable yet. I think having a solution similar to the RedEye remote is better as long as you can find a hub that is reasonable in price. I haven't tried RedEye yet because the hub is $200, but I probably will try it this winter. I wrote to them and they claim it is Voiceover accessible, they are interested in getting feedback and told me that through the retailer they offer a 30-day money back guaranty should it not be to my liking. I have tried one solution, the RE Universal Remote, which uses a 30-Pin IR Dongle and while it works to some extend, it is not as Voiceover friendly as it needs to be and what's more, I am not at all interested in something I have to plug in to my phone because it is too inconvenient and I also found, and this would apply to any app no matter how well it worked, that simply the fact that I have to pick up my iPhone or iPod Touch, unlock it, go into the app is slow by nature especially if all you want to do is turn the volume up or down and I just don't see how I would ever use it over the remote that came with my device. The same goes if maybe you are watching a DVD and you want to pause it because the phone is ringing, I guess if it was an iPhone app and assuming it would controla DVD player which you said it doesn't at first, there could be a setting to automatically Pause when the phone is ringing just like music playback stops when the phone is ringing. Anyhow, there are many ifs and all sorts of issues. I like the idea of a universal remote rather than having 4 or 5 remotes on my coffee table, how cool would it be if Logitech put simple voice output into one of their Harmony remotes. Hello, The app is called Read2Go, and it works very well. You can use it to search for books from Bookshare and download them to your device. You can read them with Voiceover or a cappella voices built into the app. I use a braille display frequently with it, and in the current version, it is doing a great job remembering my place from one time to the next when I read. Read2Go also plays unencrypted DAISY books with text, audio, or both. So Yes, if you want to read DAISY books and use Bookshare frequently, I think it's worth the money. My Sony LCD TV which is about 5 years old is not capable to be connected to my WiFi and I think there would be a lot of people for whom your app would be more or less useless because they have stuff that isn’t network or WiFi capable yet. I think having a solution similar to the RedEye remote is better as long as you can find a hub that is reasonable in price. I haven’t tried RedEye yet because the hub is $200, but I probably will try it this winter. I wrote to them and they claim it is Voiceover accessible, they are interested in getting feedback and told me that through the retailer they offer a 30-day money back guaranty should it not be to my liking. I have tried one solution, the RE Universal Remote, which uses a 30-Pin IR Dongle and while it works to some extend, it is not as Voiceover friendly as it needs to be and what’s more, I am not at all interested in something I have to plug in to my phone because it is too inconvenient and I also found, and this would apply to any app no matter how well it worked, that simply the fact that I have to pick up my iPhone or iPod Touch, unlock it, go into the app is slow by nature especially if all you want to do is turn the volume up or down and I just don’t see how I would ever use it over the remote that came with my device. The same goes if maybe you are watching a DVD and you want to pause it because the phone is ringing, I guess if it was an iPhone app and assuming it would controla DVD player which you said it doesn’t at first, there could be a setting to automatically Pause when the phone is ringing just like music playback stops when the phone is ringing. Anyhow, there are many ifs and all sorts of issues. I like the idea of a universal remote rather than having 4 or 5 remotes on my coffee table, how cool would it be if Logitech put simple voice output into one of their Harmony remotes. Technical or conectivity aspects aside, as an end user, I think other than the standard keypad and volume controls that would probably be the base of any app remote solution, would be the ability to access other features that appear on the television screen like program information, ratings, etc. Just as importantly though would also be the ability to control what information is provided. More isn't always better. Flicking back and forth between channels, I don't necessarily need to know what's on channel 7 for the umpteenth time if I'm going between two programs and am commercial hopping. Re: bookshare app
If you mean, whether Read2Go will support them, the answer is no. Technically too NLS books are formatted differently than other daisy books such as those from Bookshare and Learning Ally. - Original Message - From: Kliphton kliph...@gmail.com To: viphone@googlegroups.com Sent: Sunday, September 30, 2012 8:33 PM Subject: RE: bookshare app Are NLS and bard books dazy books? -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Woody Anna Dresner Sent: Sunday, September 30, 2012 7:18 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: bookshare app Hello, The app is called Read2Go, and it works very well. Disappointed in do not disturb functionality of iPhone five
When I first heard about the scheduling function in do not disturb on the iPhone five I thought that it would allow you to schedule the phone to ignore calls at certain .periods during a certain day. However the application only allowed you to establish quiet hours during which calls will be ignored every single day. However the do not disturb function would be a lot more useful if it allowed you to set different times for different days. For example if I know I have a court appearance tomorrow at 2 o'clock it would be very useful for the phone to have a function in which I can schedule the program to block calls during that time. Then the following day if I have a meeting at 1 o'clock I can set the phone to ignore calls for that time as well. It could be a checkmark option when scheduling an event in the calendar. Therefore you would never have to worry about your phone accidentally being left on and going off in an important meeting. When you schedule the meeting you would have already told your phone to ignore calls for that time. I don't know if anyone can develop an application which would do this so we don't have to wait for the iPhone six for this functionality. However if someone does develop such an application I would be willing to pay quite a bit for it. James H. RE: Disappointed in do not disturb functionality of iPhone five
We wouldn't have to wait for the next iPhone, since that's an iOS 6 feature, not specific to the iPhone 5. If apple deems it necessary, or something they feel customers would use, it may be put in a future version of iOS, but for now, we've got to deal with what we've been given, which is pretty awesome. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of James Lockwood Sent: Sunday, September 30, 2012 7:51 PM To: iphone group Subject: Disappointed in do not disturb functionality of iPhone five When I first heard about the scheduling function in do not disturb on the iPhone five I thought that it would allow you to schedule the phone to ignore calls at certain .periods during a certain day. Re: Television Remote for Visually Impaired
I think another key component would be to be able to switch audio sources on the fly, from standard audio to the alternative audio sources to ensure descriptive video comes through on the SAP channel. Otherwise, what's the point of having a special remote? LOL.
