Hi,

I assume you are talking about locking the orientation on an iphone.

First, touch the status bar at the top of the screen and then perform a three
finger swipe up the screen to open the control centre. There if you swipe
along, you will come across the orientation lock button. Put your phone into
portrait mode and tap the lock orientation icon. It will now say orientation

RE: Battery life tip

Thank you very much indeed, the wifi off tip is fantastic, I ran yesterday on

The more your screen is locked the less battery your phone uses. When the
screen is locked it's black and does not react to being touched and also the
LED backlighting is off and it is one of the things which uses up a fair amount
of battery. It is in fact a good idea to turn brightness to 0% if you are not
using any remaining vision or if you don't often share your iPhone with a
sighted person.
Screen brightness is also adjusted in the Control Centre, touch the status bar
like the time and then swipe up with 3 fingers. Here you can turn on/off
Airplane Mode, WiFi, Bluetooth, Lock the Orientation and change the brightness.
There are also shortcuts along the bottom of the screen for the Clock,
Calculator etc.

Are there any other general battery life conservation tips that anyone has for
example, my IPhone 5s says screen dimmed after a while and then screen locked
when not in use.
Does the screen actually go blank or is there a screen saver that you could
disable?

Subject: Battery life tip

Hi all,

I thought I would pass on a little tip for those using an iPod touch and or an
iPhone.

Since purchasing my iPod 5th gen about 1.5 years ago, I've always had WiFi
running at all times. At most I would get about 1.5 days battery life. I was
learning how to use the device so wanted access to Siri and other online access
to iTunes store and such, which explains why battery died so quickly.

Now having long learned how to use my iOS device, I thought I would run it with
WiFi disabled and only turned on when I needed it. I discovered that with WiFi
disabled I could get 6 days of battery life. This means of course that WiFi is
a major battery hog. Smile. At one point when battery life was at 100%, over
24 hours later I was still at 100%. Quite frankly, I'm amazed my iOS device can
do this since I had never considered running it without WiFi.

My point is that if one is finished learning how to use their iOS device, and
if one doesn't need to use email and other information constantly pushed to
your iOS device, maybe turning off WiFi will also extend the battery on your
device.

I of course am aware of personal preference and iOS lifestyle preferences, but
since the bulk of iOS apps don't need an internet connection to run, disabling
wifi could remove the constant hassle of charging out of your life. Smile.

Just thought I would pass on this little tip.

Joseph

Requesting Recommendations for either paid or free Dictionary Apps

2014-05-15 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

I am currently enrolled in the NFB's Braille Transcription/Proof reading
course.

As such, I am in need of a good either free or paid iOS-ready, VoiceOver
accessible dictionary app, preferably collegiate, that will diagram the
syllables of words.

Now I only have one Braille display and that is being used to enter the
Braille transcription code so I need a dictionary app that will allow me to
read, character-by-character via the VoiceOver Rotor, in order to determine
how the words are syllabically separated.

Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.

Mark

Note that both devices need Airdrop. This requires iOS7, and new enough
hardware. I don't remember the supported devices list off hand, but if the
Control Center lacks Airdrop, chances are your device does not support it.

  1. On both devices, open the Control Center and enable Airdrop by tapping the
Airdrop button. Set it to everyone, unless both of you are in each others'
contact lists.
  2. Find the video on the initiating iPad and hit the Share button. Choose
the target iPad. If it doesn't show up, be sure it is on (unlocked, or at least
on the lock screen) and try again.
  3. Once you tap the target iPad, the transfer will take a couple seconds to
start. On the target, you will get a popup asking you to accept or reject the
video; accept it, and you're done, once the data transfers.

Phone behaving very oddly after immediately placing a call

2014-05-15 Thread Shermeen Khan
Hello everyone,

So I'm experiencing a most annoying issue, and I'm wondering if it's
specific to my device or if this problem is generating enough
annoyance across the blind population to start a revolution. Anyway,
when I make a call and put the phone to my ear, one of two things
happens:
1) My face somehow presses all sorts of random buttons, so VO (or the
phone) has not recognized that the phone is against my ear. So I'll
hear things like Three, four, seven, etc. (and the associated tones
of those buttons being pressed) or heading not found. or;
2) The person I'm calling will answer the phone, and unless I have the
phone very firmly pressed to my face (I'm talking like, really hard)
the phone will constantly flip back and forth between speaker and the
regular ear, causing all sorts of frustration. I have a very simple
case on my phone--and this problem seems to be present regardless of
whether or not the case is on, so I suspect it isn't an issue of my
case somehow tinkering with the proximity sensor.

Any thoughts? am I crazy? (don't answer that!) or is it my phone?

Thanks,
Shermeen

RE: Phone behaving very oddly after immediately placing a call

2014-05-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Chermeen,

Which phone do you have?

I would do 2 things:
First, make sure your screen is clean, e.g. wipe it with a damp cloth or if you
have an LCD screen cleaning kit, use that.
Second, power your phone down, wait at least 30 seconds and turn it back on.
Make sure that before you turn it off you bring up the app switcher with a
quick double press of the home key and then close all apps.

See if this helps and let us know.

Regards,
Sieghard

case somehow tinkering with the proximity sensor.

Any thoughts? am I crazy? (don't answer that!) or is it my phone?

2014-05-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Chermeen,

Not sure what else to recommend apart from doing a complete factory restore and
to set up your phone as a new phone. See if this fixes the issue, if it does
you can then restore from a backup and see if the problem stays gone.
Alternatively, if you can reproduce this problem consistently, take your phone
to an Apple Store and ask them to give you a new phone.

the hints button in I Associate 2

2014-05-15 Thread Rebecca Ilniski
Hi all. For those of you who have played I Associate 2 and if you need
a hint do you ever have problems with selecting the hint button and then
tapping on the word that you would like the hint with? Sometimes I find
that the button doesn't work when applying the double tap for the word
that I need the hint for. Is there a way around this problem? I am
enjoying the game.

Mocha Telnet Lite

2014-05-15 Thread Traci Duncan
Hello all,

Has anyone used this app or something similar on their iDevice? Mocha Telnet
provides access to a Linux/UNIX Telnet Server. Using your iPhone or iPad, you
can connect to a Telnet Server and run applications in a VT220 Terminal window.
Exactly as you would, if you were sitting at your system console, just on a
smaller screen. LITE VERSION Compared to the Lite version the full version has:
- Full support for keys F1-F20, Esc, Tab, Arrows and other VT220 terminal keys.
FEATURES - Supports all standard VT220 emulation features. - Alternate screen
size (24x80 or 24x132). - Zoom and scroll as the Safari browser. - Telnet and
SSH2 protocol. - Landscape mode. - Auto login. - OPTICON 200X barcode scanner.
- Linea barcode and card reader. - iScan barcode scanner from Mobilogics. -
Camera as barcode scanner. - Pop up keyboard. - User defined key values. -
Colors can be customized.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mocha-telnet-lite/id286893976?mt=8

Here's why I'm asking. I've been looking at this product AirEnabler, to turn
any stereo into airPlay system.

http://airenabler.qnology.com/quicksetup

The thing is, it is a bit techy to set up. Especially, if you want the device
to join your existing home WIFI.

If I set it up this way, am I doing anything to lessen the security of my WPA2
network? I'm not offering up my password or anything to this telnet service
for someone else to access?

Anyway, I was a bit curious about the whole thing, the airEnabler is $49. It
has 3 modes of set up. It's natural set up uses an open WIFI, then your device
is restricted to your cellular data connection for anything else. For home
use, you can have the AirEnabler join your private WIFI network, then your
device uses WIFI as usual.

What are your thoughts? It gets good reviews on Amazon.

Thanks,
Traci

As the co-moderator of another iphone list, we are organizing a

This means that the topics discussed at this event will be

to discuss things and ask questions face to face instead of just
over email.
Some suggesttion we already have are airdrop, dreams for the

ios 7.
If you have any other suggesttions, or just want to join the fun,
please email me offlist. You can also go ahead, and add me on
skype. My skype name is kateddandrekson, and my profile id is
Book Thief.
We don't exactly have the times yet. But I will let you know
when I know. I should find out tonight.

Hi everyone.
I'm quite confused. I'm trying to set blind square up so that it
announces when I've reached a destination. I'm not planning a rout, just
using it to see what's around me when we're running errands in the car.
I have the feature where it tracks the entire root set to on, like the
help section on the website says to do. Do I need to create a distance
alert around every single place I encounter? I sure hope not! The app
doesn't seem to acknowledge that we're approaching the place, much less
when we've reached it.
Thanks for your help.

create a recording, edit the recording, delete play it. You can preform
searches for on-demand content then play the resulting tv show/movie.

There is also the xFinity Connect app, which is fairly accessible. This
is for your Comcast email/phone/text messaging.

I think there are a couple more apps, but I haven’t used them much.

Re: the hints button in I Associate 2

2014-05-15 Thread Donna
Try tapping on the word that is associated with the blank letter fields. For
example the word is associated with lemon and has 6 blanks. If you swipe
through the puzzle you should come accross the word lemon. If you tap on the
word after choosing a hint, the letter hint will appear within the word
association blank letter field.

Hope this made sense and is helpful.

the hint for. Is there a way around this problem? I am enjoying the game.

Re: Requesting Recommendations for either paid or free Dictionary Apps

2014-05-15 Thread Joseph FreeTech
Hi Tracy,

Using WordWeb on your iOS device, do you know if there is a way to configure
WordWeb to present textual information without breaking it up into links? In
other words, if the definition of a word can itself be defined, it is shown
as a link. The problems is that just about every word used in a definition
can be defined by WordWeb, so all words end up on their own line. The end
result is constant swiping from word to word rather than listening to a
definition without interruption. Just hoping you might know of a little
trick to make WordWeb a better app.

thanks,

Joseph

As you already know, blindSquare does that. In my opinion, BlindSquare is
better on doing that than Seeing eye GPS by Sendero. What I do like about
Seeing eye GPS is the turn by turn directions that you get when trying to

blindsquare. Other then that, to know what is around you, you can use an

BlindSquare can notify someone once they have arrived at a destination if

Hi everyone.
I'm quite confused. I'm trying to set blind square up so that it
announces when I've reached a destination. I'm not planning a rout, just
using it to see what's around me when we're running errands in the car.
I have the feature where it tracks the entire root set to on, like the
help section on the website says to do. Do I need to create a distance
alert around every single place I encounter? I sure hope not! The app
doesn't seem to acknowledge that we're approaching the place, much less
when we've reached it.
Thanks for your help.

Day One Journal app

2014-05-15 Thread Christina C.
Hello listers,

I've been looking for an accessible journal app for iOS. I especially want to
sync across devices and my Mac. I came across the Day One Journal app. I will
add the link to Day One below.

The developers are working on accessibility of the Mac version. I requested
some accessibility improvements for the iOS version. Day One responded promptly
with Thank you for your suggestions. I probably was not very good at
explaining to Day One about my difficulties with the app. :) I really like
what this app has to offer. It's actually not too far from accessibility. I can
add a journal entry but I cannot figure out how to delete an entry. The buttons
are labeled a bit strangely but mostly understandable. It's the timeline page
that is difficult for me to figure out..

If any of you have tried the iOS app I would greatly appreciate it if you could
send Day One a quick note about your experiences with the app as a voiceOver
user. They might find it helpful. They do not seem closed to the idea of making
some accessibility improvements since they are improving the Mac version. I'm
really not trying to be a pain but I really like the potential of this app. I
really want to Journal. Please don't suggest that I simply use a text editor as
it would not have the things on my wish list for a dedicated journaling app. :)
It would also not be efficient for me personally.

Hi Carla,
I've had RNIB navigater for about a week now and here are my thoughts.
I've found it very hit and miss to be honest. One minute when I'm moving
about either walkingor in a car it's telling me all the streets and pois as
I go past. The next, more often when on a bus it's only telling me streets
or only telling me points of interest which is very frustrating as I want to
know both. I've found when it works it works well but it has been very
inconsistent. It's also mentioned a number of unnamed roads which
Blindsquare has been able to name straight away.
For me I don't thinkI will pay a monthly subscription for the app as I think
with the exception of describing intersections Blindsquare does everything
Navigater does. Ok you have to link to an external app for maps and turn by
turn but I've found it works well in combination with navigon. Also
Blindsquare in my area seems to be much more consistent when reporting
things.

Just my thoughts,

RE: Phone behaving very oddly after immediately placing a call

2014-05-15 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Shermeen,

I answer my phone all the time without benefit of any BlueTooth or attached
headsets. I simply place the phone up to my ear and it works perfectly. I
have never encountered the issues you have described. While I am currently
using a 5 S, I have not encountered any difficulties on any of my previous
devices, either.

It is possible that your proximity sensor could be malfunctioning. When you go
to the Apple store, be sure to accept an incoming call so that the technicians
can view how you hold your phone as you attempt to talk on it.

Good Luck,

Alternatively, if you can reproduce this problem consistently, take
your phone to an Apple Store and ask them to give you a new phone.

Jose, thanks for confirming that I am indeed not crazy. I'm glad it
 isn't just me.

Sieghard, I have actually done both of those things already, and the
problem still persists (oh, and I have an IPhone 5). If ever I was
concerned about the proximity sensor in the past, or was worried about
the speaker inadvertently being engaged, I used to have the option of
turning off vo with a triple home click, although now, regardless of
at which point I am during the call (either placing it or it already
being placed), I can no longer turn vo off--tribble clicking home does
not seem to disable vo when I'm on a call.

 Thanks,
 Shermeen

 I would do 2 things:
First, make sure your screen is clean, e.g. wipe it with a damp cloth
or if you have an LCD screen cleaning kit, use that.
Second, power your phone down, wait at least 30 seconds and turn it
 back on.
Make sure that before you turn it off you bring up the app switcher
with a quick double press of the home key and then close all apps.

See if this helps and let us know.

(and the associated tones
 of those buttons being pressed) or heading not found. or;
 2) The person I'm calling will answer the phone, and unless I have the
phone very firmly pressed to my face (I'm talking like, really hard)
the phone will constantly flip back and forth between speaker and the
regular ear, causing all sorts of frustration. I have a very simple
case on my phone--and this problem seems to be present regardless of
whether or not the case is on, so I suspect it isn't an issue of my
case somehow tinkering with the proximity sensor.

Any thoughts? am I crazy? (don't answer that!) or is it my phone?

 Thanks,
 Shermeen

Hello Charmaine, I'm not for sure if this is already been mentioned but it
sounds like your proximity sensor made a lot of attention so you may want to
have that look better than Apple, occasionally if I move mine away from my ear
it will go on speaker and sometimes I have to take it with my ear and put it
back up to my ear to get it back on speaker I have not had the number pressing

Re: Phone behaving very oddly after immediately placing a call

2014-05-15 Thread David Chittenden
The proximity sensor is just below the earpiece speaker on the iPhone. It is
not a matter of how hard the iPhone is pressed to one's face, it is the angle
at which the iPhone is in relation to the ear / face. Rather than pressing the
iPhone to the face, try rotating the iPhone very slowly up toward the nose
whilst the earpiece is against the ear. After I figured out the proper angles a
few years ago, I have never had any problems with my iPhone switching to
speakerphone / the proximity sensor having difficulties detecting my face.

Weather Channel App

2014-05-15 Thread Joseph FreeTech
Hi all,

some time ago I found a very accessible and very informative weather app
called Fahrenheit. It shows the current temperature on the home screen, so
if you swipe to this app or place it somewhere on your home screen where you
can quickly tap on it, the current temperature will show. For example:
Fahrenheit 70, or Fahrenheit 86, etc.

Since this app is incredibly accessible, you can add as many cities as you
want and use a 3 finger swipe from left to right and vice versa in order to
access the current weather and forecast for any city you have configured
such as temperature in your city, or temp in New York, or temp in whatever
city you'd like. On the main screen associate with your city, the current
temperature is shown at the very top of the screen so it is easy to acquire
the desired information, but below is also the forecast for what I believe
is the next 2 weeks. Amazingly, this app is only $1.

I will sate up front there's a little quirk in that on your Home screen you
will not hear Fahrenheit 99 degrees, you will hear Fahrenheit 99 new items.
I don't know why it is saying new items but since all I care is about the
temperature, this quirk doesn't bug me in the least. Smile.

Here is more iTunes store info:

Description

Fahrenheit displays the temperature on your Home Screen icon, Notification
Center and Lock Screen.

Fahrenheit is a stunning weather application that uses latest technology to
show you the current temperature of any location right on your iPhone/iPad
Home Screen! Beyond the real-time temperature on the Home Screen Fahrenheit
also is the number one weather application giving you very detailed weather
information of unlimited cities world wide, packed in a gorgeous design and
easy-to-use user interface!

LOCKSCREEN NOTIFICATION CENTER
Now, in addition to the temperature badge, you can set up the app to notify
you of any changes in the weather as they happen, right in the Lockscreen
and Notification Center.

It works really easy. We have Notification Setting that allows you to
receive a Popup/Banner alert from our Push Server. This alert will also
appear in the Notification Center and Lockscreen to show the temperature of
the last update. You can set the number of notifications as you prefer (max
1, max 5 etc) in the iPad/iPhone general settings.

TEMPERATURE IN THE ICON BADGE
Fahrenheit is backed by an online web server that uses Push Technology to
push the current temperature of any location to your iDevice. This makes it
possible to always automatically have the up-to-date temperature displayed
in the red badge at the top-right of the Fahrenheit icon on your Home
Screen. Fahrenheit supports all iOS Devices: iPhone 4s/4, iPhone 3Gs/3G,
iPad 2, iPad and all iPod Touch devices!

It is not possible to display the temperature in Celsius. You have to
download the Celsius application instead.

FULL FEATURED WEATHER APPLICATION
Fahrenheit brings you all weather information available for every location
in the world and a 10-day forecast. In addition to these powerful
forecasting features, Fahrenheit provides more comprehensive weather
information. This includes detailed information regarding cloud cover and
rainfall totals. Fahrenheit also gives users information about sunrise and
sunset times. Many users also enjoy the real time wind direction feature,
which utilizes a display arrow on screen to indicate the wind direction at
any time thanks to the built in magnetometer.

Plese let me know if you have any questions.

Zombies, Run

2014-05-15 Thread Phil Vlasak
Hi Tess,
I am not sure you have the correct game,
Zombies, Run by Adrian Hon of Six to Start's is somewhat accessible.
Zombies, Run is written by award-winning novelist Naomi Alderman.
https://www.zombiesrungame.com/

You tie your shoes, put on your headphones, take your first steps outside.
You've barely covered 100 yards when you hear them. They must be close. You can
hear every guttural breath, every rattling groan - they're everywhere. Zombies.
There's only one thing you can do: Run!
You're Runner 5. Hundreds of lives are counting on you. You've got to help your
base rebuild from the ruins of civilization by collecting critical supplies
while avoiding roving zombie hordes. Can you save them and learn the truth
about the zombie apocalypse?

Automatically collect crucial items for your base as you run, plus artefacts,
notes, voice recordings, and more
Use the items you've collected to develop your base and help your surviving
population thrive. With a bigger base comes more missions and some unexpected
surprises.
Running Game Audio Adventure
Zombies, Run! is an ultra-immersive running game for the iPhone, iPod Touch,
Android and Windows Phone. We deliver the story straight to your headphones
through orders and voice recordings - and back home, you can build and grow
your base with the items you've collected.

Run Anywhere
Zombies, Run! works anywhere and at any speed. You can jog in a park, run along
a beach, or walk along a trail, even on treadmills!

Keep the survivors alive
You automatically collect items like medicine, batteries, first aid kits,
baseball bats, underwear and ammo while running - but when you're back home,
who needs them more: the soldiers or the doctors? Which buildings need extra
defenses? It's up to you - and the bigger your base, the more missions you can
play.
Where did the zombies come from? What are the leaders of your base planning?
There's a deeper mystery to be uncovered, puzzles to be solved, websites to be
discovered, documents to be viewed so you can learn the truth of what's
happened to the world.

Choose your own custom playlists before you start running: the story unfolds in
between your tracks through a series of dynamic radio messages and voice
recordings.
With 30 missions and over 40 runs worth of gameplay, you become the hero in an
epic story of humanity's struggle for survival where your running really
matters - and there's a deeper mystery to be uncovered as well.

Better Fitness Through Science
Coming Soon: Zombies, Run! records the distance, time, pace, and calories
burned of all your runs, and we're planning RunKeeper integration. You can also
hear audio notifications for time, distance, and pace during your run.

Using voice over, a blind person has played the first few levels of Zombies
Run! He can't figure out how to assign the supplies he has recovered or how to
build the hospital.
it is currently not possible to assign supplies or put up buildings, I know
that at least two people have contacted the developers, and they said that a
solution was being worked on, but it could be a few months before it was
released.
Christina wrote You can now assign your own supplies by creating a zombielink
account online
at www.zombiesrungame.com
You then log into your account via the settings menu in the Zombies Run app on
your phone.
This way, you can assign supplies on your computer and will update your app.
The website is accessible; I had no problem assigning supplies.
alex wrote Another way is to extract the audio files from the app, and listen
to them on the computer as they are ordinary mp3s.
yes I know its cheating, but why should I have to wait for the developers to
take there time getting the app accessible.
I mostly got the app for the story anyway, not for the fitness element.
Amy wrote, But really, running away from zombies with this app is probably the
most exciting workout ever. It's incredibly immersive, and the stoyline feels
like a novel. Last workout, my helicopter crash landed outside of the base
because a mysterious force shot it down with an RPG, and I was out in the
middle of the desert with all these flesh eating zombies, and then this radio
tower guy (with a REALLY attractive voice) contacted me and made me run through
a hospital, where his old flame turned out to be, ha, ha, no. I refuse to spoil
the storyline. It's too amazing. Also, everyone has British accents! I secretly
bought the game for that reason alone. The zombies were a bonus.

Requires iOS 5 or above. Works on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPod

Re: Phone behaving very oddly after immediately placing a call

2014-05-15 Thread Christina C.
I know this may sound weird, but if I put my phone up to my ear to quickly
after tapping a contact then sometimes I have problems. I am in the habit of
making sure the call is connected before I bring the phone to my ear. I am sure
that I am weird and it's just me. :) I really really have this problem if I
have Siri make the call and I put my phone up to my ear to quickly, it seems
like Siri won't even make the call sometimes. So, I just wait a bit before
bringing my phone up to my ear. Like I said, I believe this is just me and I'm
weird. :)

Otherwise, I don't have any problems with my proximity sensor on my iPhone 5S.
I had major problems on my iPhone 4 though.

Thanks for your help.

iCloud vs. iTunes backups: The crucial
differences that affect your data
by MacDailyNews
[cfsp key=adsense_336x280]Once upon a time one
of the primary handicaps of iOS devices was the fact that you had to physically
connect it to a Windows or Mac PC with a USB sync cable to back it up using
iTunes, Tony Bradley writes for PCWorld. With iOS 5 Apple introduced iCloud,
essentially allowing users to cut the cord.

But these iOS backup methods were not created
equal, and if you don’t choose carefully you could be risking significant data
loss, Bradley writes. To ensure your iPhone or iPad data is fully protected,
here’s a look at what each option backs up and when to use it.

iCloud Backup lets you back up your data
wirelessly and automatically to your iCloud account, Bradley writes. While
this method is exceptionally convenient, it doesn’t perform a full backup. It
backs up only what Apple deems the “most important data” on your iOS device:
your camera roll, accounts, documents, and settings.

Apps are the most glaring omission from the list
of data iCloud backs up. But that's mostly for the sake of efficiency. Your
purchased apps, music, movies, and books will be re-downloaded from the App,
iTunes, and iBook stores when you restore from an iCloud Backup, Bradley
writes. The same cannot be said about your music or videos that weren’t
purchased through iTunes, photos that aren’t stored in the local camera roll,
your call history, homescreen arrangement, and loads of other data. To make
safety copies of those, you'll have to use the good ol' iTunes Backup.

FW: Fraction calculator

2014-05-15 Thread Richard Turner
Greetings,

I had written Palasoftware support to thank them for the accessibility of
their app and also about the parental gate that you run into if you try to
get to their web site or support from within the app.

The instructions for the parental gate say to press the three circles
simultaneously.

I pointed out that was impossible with VoiceOver.

Below is their responses, which I am very impressed with. They truly listen
and respond.

Currently if Voiceover is on you can perform a three finger swipe on the

I will log your concerns as a bug and maybe we can come up with a better
alternative.

Hi Casey,

I also have storm shield and I get all severe weather notification alerts
when severe weather is approaching my area. Here's what you need to do. In
your storm shield app go to settings then go to background tracking and make
sure that is turned on. Then go to locations and turn it on.If you want any
other locations to get alerts and by the way you can select up to five other
locations to be selected for getting alerts. Go to extras then tap settings
then locations and add your chosen locations. I hope this helps. Take
care.

Re: Fraction calculator

2014-05-15 Thread Joseph FreeTech
Hi,

Regarding the Parental gate, try using a 3-finger swipe left, or right, or
up, or down, and you will bypass that parental gate. You will then find the
Contact info for Palasoftware. They are indeed very responsive to all who
write and actually seriously consider and employ user suggestions.

Currently if Voiceover is on you can perform a three finger swipe on the
parental gate to dismiss it.

I will log your concerns as a bug and maybe we can come up with a better
alternative.

We have made an adjustment to the next version (1.0.2) that removes the
parental gate when VoiceOver is on. -- We will see if Apple approves this.

automatic reading in ibooks on a braille display

2014-05-15 Thread Holly Anderson
Hi all, I got my refreshabraille today, I'm very happy with it. I have a
question about using it with ibooks. Obviously since its 18 cells there is a
lot of scrolling. Is there anyway to auto scroll the display when reading in
ibooks? I did some preliminary research, and I'm thinking no, but I just
wanted to make sure. People who have this display, have you found a
comfortable way to constantly hit the pan right button, I feel like its
twisting my hand in knots to try and do it. Any tips for using ibooks would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Holly

The below question is not limited only to iPhones. I am wondering
whether it is possible to flash a CDMA phone such that it would work on

Thanks.
