2015-09-14 Thread John Diakogeorgiou
I purchased this game yesterday. When playing it, it begins to studder
like it's running to slow. I am wondering if anyone else has had any
problems with the game. I'm trying to determine if the problem is the
game or the IPhone software. I am using 9.1. This game is to expensive
not to work.

RE: NFL Game Pass update

2015-09-14 Thread SSEric
Using Pro Radio and Pro Football, I was able to get several games' feeds.
However, not all.

Really, I only checked five games, but if this sample is representative, I
can live with it. I'm not a die-hard fan, though, so missing a game here and
there won't matter.

It has been so long, I don't recall if these are free or paid apps.

The app is on the app store and right now Verizon is offering the service
for free. Even if you don't take the Game Pass, you can still get the live
videos and if you can follow okay from them you can save yourself $99. I am
not sure I will extend the 7 day trial but will wait until this weekend is
over to decide. I can also get the games today on Pro Radio with no problems
and that does not cost me anything. so I am thinking with NFL Mobile and pro
Radio I have two possible choices without paying the ridiculous price of the
NFL Game Pass.

To my knowledge NFL Mobile only works on Verizon.

I am now listening to the live radio stream of the Seattle/St.Louis game on

Subject: RE: problem resetting account information

Hello Vicky,

Generally speaking, there are two methods to using a Smartphone screen
reader. The primary method, more by culture than by anything else, is
based on swiping from either left to right or right to left in order
to place focus on the various elements of the display.

In the early days of iPHone, this was the surest method to make
certain that the user did not skip or accidentally bypass important
information on the screen.

The second method, used primarily by Android Smartphone owners, as a
result of technology rather than culture, is referred to as
explore-by-touch. This method requires that the user slide her/his
finger around the screen in order to detect the various elements being
displayed.

For whatever reason, the swipe method sometimes skips items in iOS in
the currently released version of the system. As a result, if one
uses only the swipe method, he/she may unknowingly skip over important
information.

To deliberately experience this for yourself, do the following:

1.

From the LaunchPad, single-finger double-tap the Settings icon.

2.
Now, simply single-finger swipe from left to right as many times as
you like to go down the list of items. Take note of what you hear. I
suggest that you swipe at least 12 times or so,

3.
Next, single-finger swipe from right to left in order to reverse your
direction, moving up the list. Chances are, you will hear more items
than you did in the first instance. Some items that are commonly
skipped, when going down the list are FaceTime, Messages, and Notes.

Vicky, I write all of this to say that I suspect that the reason you
are not entering all of the required information is because, using the
swipe method, focus is skipping a required field that must be
addressed before successfully completing the submission process. For
example, if you are entering a new credit card, then the 3-digit
security code field may be being skipped by VoiceOver, again, using
the swipe method only.

So, try using a combination of both the swipe and the explore-by-touch
method when entering information.

Good Luck,

Mark

Such an external battery would be limited to idevices since the android

smart enough to build their batteries with both full sized USB and micro

I once heard of an app that, of course, I can't recall right now, which tells

I am going from Central Ohio to Savannah Georgia, which takes me through

Good Luck,

Mark

If you are running the beta of 9.1, that could be why. Have you tried
running it on an i-device with a more public version number, like 8.4?
I don't have the game, but have learned from reading other people's
accounts that it is good to use caution when using software on a test
machine. I have listened to the podcast though and am highly
considering getting the game, it sounds very fun and challenging.
Also, if you act within the first 14 days or so you can get a refund
using the Refund link in the email receipt you should get from Apple.

Closing a voice memo

2015-09-14 Thread David Renstrom
Hi,

I'm writing a short guide on how to use the built-in Voice Memos app. If I want
to record a new voice memo immediately after listening to a saved one, the
Record button is dimmed. I can "undim" the Record button by tapping on the
title of another saved voice memo. But if I've only got one voice memo, this is
of course not possible. Does anyone know another way to make the Record button
available again? I know about the two-finger double-tap to start a new
recording, but the user I'm helping out doesn't wanna learn a lot of commands.

Thanks in advance,
/David R.

RE: problems with sounds and voice-over

2015-09-14 Thread Rob
I don't know if this describes your problem, but you might give it a try.

There has been a problem for a while that sometimes the microphone stays on
when you use Siri. If this is the problem, hold the Home button down until you
hear the 2 beeps from Siri. Then release the button. Then press the Home
button again to close Siri.

another possible solution is to hold the volume up button and swipe around the

Gi, Dave,

Don't reset your phon just yet. If you haven't done so already, add the volume
setting to your rotor. You can find that in the Settings app, under
General/Accessibility/VoiceOver/Rotor. After that, turn to volume in your rotor
and do a one-finger flick up. This will raise your VO volume. Then use your
volume down button to lower your VO sounds. If your VO volume gets too low
again, just do another one-finger flick up with your rotor set to volume.

Thanks,

Ari

If I use the “reset all settings” option, will it keep all my folders? Will the

This problem has only started having this problem over the last few weeks.

Turning on voiceover on a new iPhone using iTunes

2015-09-14 Thread Mary Otten
Wayback in the dark ages, technologically speaking, when you got a new iPhone,
if you wanted to turn on voiceover, you would connect the phone to the computer
running iTunes and do it there. I haven't done that in a long time, and I
understood from somewhere that this capability is actually absent now
Is that true? I ask because I intend to do a full encrypted backup of my phone
to my mac running on iTunes prior to getting my new phone. Then you're supposed
to immediately connect the phone to The computer running iTunes and commence
the set up there using your computer. That should be easy enough. But at the
end, do you turn voiceover on in iTunes? Or do you take the phone off and tell
Siri to turn it on and hope you're in the right place? Just curious.

ISO accessible replacement for iTunes

2015-09-14 Thread Jerry White
Good evening everyone!

I apologize if this subject has been talked to death, but does anyone know
of an iTunes replacement that is accessible to JAWS 13 and works on windows
7?

I can no longer add audio books to my iPhone 6. I can, however, still sync
music lists to my phone, but I cannot see the "Recently Added" list to
select songs I have just addded to the library to add to a specific list.
When I tab around, I can select the iPhone 6, change to the audio books
section on the phone, and then only see a few of the many audio books I have
in my iTunes library. Also, when I select "File", and Add Files", it does
just fine, but I can't then see them to create a playlist.

Any help is greatly appreciated! I have windows 7, and the latest version
of iTunes installed.

Thanks in advance!!

Jerry

of course, and I paid the appropriate price. I'm looking for something
that would be better quality of course, but, I have never seen anything

the battery connected to the phone via the connector. Does such exist?

Hmm, I don't need to actually enter a password to check my voice mail, but
I'm using Verizon and they've got this Visual voicemail that lets you see
how many messages you have and listen to or delete them right from the voice
mail screen in the phone app. Once this is set up , no password is necessary
to play voice mail unless you have one set up to unlock the screen, but
these are two different things.

The last time I changed my password, I had to call my iPhone number from the
phone itself and then follow the automated prompts to change the password.
I could also check voice mail and do the usual deleting or saving like I did
with my flip phone before getting an iPhone.

But like I said, I generally don't use that method to check voice mail since
I can access it from the voice mail screen. It's much easier than trying to
punch numbers in an automated menu.

HTH and I haven't confused things further.

Subject: changing voice mail password

Hello
Has anyone had trouble typing in their password quickly enough to succeed
in

checking their voice mail on the iPhone? I have not. When I went to
settings and tried to change the password, there was no enter fields and a
done button was dimmed. I then opened up the phone atp and selected voice
mail but there was no option to do it from that screen either. Perhaps I
have to go into a specific mail account to do it?

the battery connected to the phone via the connector. Does such exist?

One thing I can think of with respect to your new phone and just downloading
the apps you want from the store is that, if you have a lot of folders, you
won't have those if you use this method. You have to redo everything. How good

Submitting App Crash Reports

2015-09-14 Thread Chris Smart
Hi folks. The developer of an app is requesting that I submit logged crash
reports by selecting the text in a report from the list found in Settings >
Privacy > Diagnostics and Usage > Diagnostic and Usage Data, nd pasting said
text into the body of an email to them. I can bring up the list of diagnostic
reports, open one by double-tapping, but cannot figure out how to select the
text and copy it to the clipboard. I'm not seeing any controls to do this in
the rotar, and this is not a typical edit field.

So, what am I missing? Probably something really simple right? Or is this not
possible with Voiceover on?

thanks for any suggestions.

RE: WHEN I SET UP MY NEW PHONE

2015-09-14 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Carol,

You're in the best place when it comes to setting up a second phone as iTunes
on your computer will take care of everything.

When you get your new device, simply attach it to your computer. Next, you
will choose to set it up as a new phone. Next, you will simply move to the
various tabs on the device, from within iTunes and manually select which apps,
books, and Playlists/music you want on the new device. As long as each device
you attach to iTunes has a different device name, iTunes will keep their
respective settings, separate.

Managing multiple iOS devices is one of the things that iTunes does best.

By the way, it's always a good idea to backup your devices on a regular basis.

button to speak the focused content and magnify text up to 15X. Bold
text, increased contrast, and reduced motion are also included,
features standard on other Apple products. While closed captions are
specifically noted, there is no mention of audio description on the
accessibility page, though it certainly may be available under
settings or in specific apps. The accessibility shortcut (pressing the
Menu button 3 times) can be enabled to toggle VoiceOver, Zoom,
captions, or other accessibility features though like on other Apple
devices, the shortcut isn't enabled by default. Here's a link to the
TVOS accessibility page.

RE: Submitting App Crash Reports

2015-09-14 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Chris,

I looked into this and, like you, was unable to copy the contents of the entire
report to the clipboard.

The best I could do was to copy one line at a time by using the single-finger,
double-tap and hold gesture.

Even when I turned off VoiceOver, I was unable to copy an entire report.

So, asked them how to do this and let us know, okay?

Subject: Submitting App Crash Reports

RE: Turning on voiceover on a new iPhone using iTunes

2015-09-14 Thread Neal Ewers
Hi, You can still use the latest iTunes to turn on VoiceOver. Go to your iPhone
button in iTunes with your phone connected obviously. Tab past the treey
without changing it to apps or anything else. Keep tabbing and you will get to
accessibility options. There is a check mark for VoiceOver.

You can also ask Siri to turn on VoiceOver.

Wayback in the dark ages, technologically speaking, when you got a new iPhone,
if you wanted to turn on voiceover, you would connect the phone to the computer
running iTunes and do it there. I haven't done that in a long time, and I
understood from somewhere that this capability is actually absent now Is that

Re: Aftershocks headphones?

2015-09-14 Thread Andy Baracco
I have owned several of the bluetooth models. i use them for navigating with
GPS apps while walking or riding. They are good for this purpose because
they don't cover your ears. The negatives are that the audio quality is to
me not acceptable for music. They also suffer from audio bleed, so if you
are sitting next to someone on a bus, they can probably hear your music.
Also, they are not durable. I've broken a few with just gentle use. Also,
depending on how your head is shaped, you might feel that they are pushing
on the sides of your head. I do get a headache when wearing them for a long
time. You should know that they will be coming out with a new model that is
made of titanium, so this will hopefully solve the breakage problem. They
also say that they have found a way to solve the audio bleed issue. Hope
this answers some of your questions.

Fantastical Question

2015-09-14 Thread Emilio Hernandez
Hello everyone,

I have some questions I have not been able to resolve through an Internet
search. Thus, I hope users here can be helpful.

1. How do I get Fantastical to alert me with a notification for an event
created in Google calendar? I know Google will send me an E-mail, but I am not
always reading my E-mail to receive such notifications.
2. From reviewing the notes about Fantastical on the Internet, I note that this
app can send text messages and E-mail messages for birthdays? How does one
accomplish this task?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Re: Travel Apps

2015-09-14 Thread Sherrie
I used and app called iExit on our last car trip. It lets you explore what
is at exits on the interstates. It was a bit frustrating at times with the
voice over but I was able to use it. For instance I searched for Chick
Fil-a and discovered there was one at the very next exit. Then I got the
driving directions to it. I need to write to the developer since it did
close on me several times which was frustrating but I am using IOS 7 on an
iPhone 5.

The app is free so give it a try.

Google calendar accessibility

2015-09-14 Thread Mary Otten
Is anyone using the Google calendar app from the app store for the iPhone? If
so, how is it with VoiceOver? I assume that you might be able to open the app
with Siri, like you can the google now app. But you wouldn't be able to make
entries using Siri. I wonder about using the Google voice to make an entry once
you're inside the app like you can't search with Google now app. I'm interested
because the Amazon echo now has the capability of linking with the Google
Calendar.

Old-time Radio listservs

2015-09-14 Thread Tim Emmons
guys, I have a question and I hope everybody doesn’t mind. I apologize for the
cross-posting and I know that for some of these lists this is going to be way
off topic but I wanted to ask and if you want to take clutter off the lists,
please, email or contact me privately off the list so as to avoid clutter and
off topic stuff that might ensue. I have rediscovered and fallen in love again,
with old-time radio. I love listening and finding new programs and when Bard
went down this is what kept me entertained for hours on top of course, of
everything else, chasing a two-year old, (my son) and other numerous things.
Lol. But, I wanted to know if there might be a list or lists out there devoted
to Old-time Radio, programs, and all that type of thing. I wasn’t sure where to
look but I’m curious. If anyone can let me know, that would be awesome or point
me in the direction that would be great. I started using Vintage Radio, an app
in the App store, and I did their yearly subscription of $19.99 for their whole
catalog which is huge but I can’t ever get enough of this stuff. Lol. I was a
member of a list a long long time ago, but life and things in general at the
time had gotten in the way of getting the cDS back but I don’t know that the
mp3 CdS make their rounds like they did back in the day, but I’m curious.
Thanks again guys and if you know of anywhere to point me in the direction
please let me know. Thanks again and again sorry for the off topic cross posts
on some places but just trying to get an idea here. Thanks again and take care.

changing voice mail password

2015-09-14 Thread deidre muccio
Hello
Has anyone had trouble typing in their password quickly enough to succeed in
checking their voice mail on the iPhone? I have not. When I went to
settings and tried to change the password, there was no enter fields and a
done button was dimmed. I then opened up the phone atp and selected voice
mail but there was no option to do it from that screen either. Perhaps I
have to go into a specific mail account to do it?
