Hi Todd,

The recipient will see everyone to whom the message is being sent. They'll see
names of anyone in their contact list and phone numbers or email addresses for
people who aren't.

Best,
Anna

Anna,

If this is done as described, does it mean the receivers would still see email
addresses/mobile numbers just as you do in Outlook by inserting a common right
after the last character then a new email address in the To: field? Or you do
not see anyone, just the sender’s address alone?

Hi Todd,

Type in the first few characters of the first person's name. If the person is
in your contacts, you'll find options such as their mobile number or email
address. Double-tap the one you want. If the person isn't in your contacts,
type their email address or phone number.

Then do the same thing again; start typing the next person's name, and select
them from the list. You can add as many people as you want in this way.

Best,

Anna

Re: color id app

2016-11-15 Thread Richard Turner

I have to mostly agree with Sieghard on this one.
Digit-Eyes sells labels that can be sown into clothes and will last through
dozens of washing and drying cycles.
If you don't want to go to that extent, try TapTapSee. I am hoping the output
stays on the screen long enough to use with a braille display. Sieghard is
right, that the iPhone is not very good at color identification, but TapTapSee
will at least identify patterns and if the light is good, at least come close
on the color.
I've used it fairly successfully with shirts with a wide variety of patterns
and colors and it is probably 75% accurate with color in mediocre lighting and
gets better in good lighting.
But, you will always want sighted confirmation or good labels like Sieghard
suggested for any time that being well dressed is important. If it is a casual
event, and exact matching isn't necessary, with practice TapTapSee can do OK.
Plus it is free.

Richard

Rich,

I noticed the same thing as you said below months ago after downloading that
Color ID app. I can tell by the way it behaves, not from VO, but from what the
Braille Sense U2 Mini Braille display said in Braille.

If you or I moved the iPhone a little bit, it will make the camera see
something where the color is still the same but makes the camera think
differently.

I have not used the app for a long time now. It needs some improvements.

My U2 Mini is muted so Braille is the only means.

Re: how to delete pictures off of the iPhone

2016-11-15 Thread Christopher Chaltain
Well, I have a slightly different take on this issue. I'm not a fan of
telling someone how much information they should or shouldn't include in
their posts. If someone wants their message to be read by the most
people then they'll take the time to make it readable, spell checking,
proof reading, adding some information about a link, using a good
subject line and so on. If someone doesn't want to take the time to do
this then they may not get as many people reading their message.

Not every message has to be read and not every link needs to be
followed. If there isn't enough information in the message to have you
follow the link then don't follow the link and delete the message. I
think Mr. Ed suggests this himself.

For my part, the subject line and the URL told me enough about this link
to let me know I didn't want to follow it. I don't think Shaf was being
very rude posting this link.

On 15/11/16 15:53, Sieghard Weitzel wrote:

I sort of agree with Ed, yes, you can check what the underlying URL of a link is, but not
everybody on this list may know how to do this and I actually don't think one should have
to do this. Also, in this case the link wasn't even forwarding to a particular article
with instructions but it was simply pulling up a page full of Google search results. He
could have just as well posted "Just do a Google search for How to delete pictures
from your iPhone" or whatever the exact search term was he used. Given the various
skill levels of members on the list I think either post nothing or at least post the
basic steps and then it's OK to post a link to an article which describes it in more
detail.

Hi,
I only made the suggestion because I have received emails that were made to
look like my wife had sent me the emails and there was a link to click on in
the email. I bet you that if I would have click on the link it would have been
some kind of spam, or virus. So that is why it is nice to have a comment on the
link and not to just send a link. Let me ask you this question. When you
receive an email with just a link in it do you just click on it. Well if you do
you are opening yourself up to a big security risk. So if you don't like my
suggestion just hit the delete key.

I think that when you just post a link and do not say anything about it that is

The

SE and speaker phone

2016-11-15 Thread Nancy

Hi All,

I am confused. My husband tried to make it so that my SE would not
switch back and forth between regular hearing and speaker phone.

Is anyone able to give me directions on how to make be regular all the
time and not switch back and forth to speaker phone? My SE is using 9.3.2.

Thank you so much for your help!

RE: color id app

2016-11-15 Thread Todd Patkus

RE: family sharing and in app purchases?

2016-11-15 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,
Have one of the other kids install the app and see if it allows them to
"restore" purchases.
I'm guessing the original app is free to download.

Otherwise, try going into app store, updates, purchases and see if that child
can download it from there...

Just guessing here from a brief experience with family sharing.

Re: Vehicle locator GPS app

2016-11-15 Thread Wayne Merritt
One thing to note about nearby Explorer: it also includes turn by turn
directions. If you are looking for this as well as street
identification, then great. If however you are just looking for a way
to ID the streess as you pass them, then you may not want to pay $80,
even if it is all at once. For a while there was a free app called
iMove which did this and a few other things. You might check the
AppleVis site for more ideas:

I don't have Wifi Assist turned on and I see the "network connection
in progress" many times in my status bar. I really haven't worried
about it very much. Also, in general, I find that from time to time
when I do iOS updates, some settings are turned on or off to their
default states, like the Wifi Assist. Other settings that have been
toggled one way or another for me include but not limited to:
Bluetooth, background app refresh, location services, and the list
goes on. I think it is worth going through your settings at least
after each major update and perhaps even every so often to see if
something has been changed. Yes, it takes awhile, but you might be
surprised what has been put at it's default "On" state, like the Wifi
Assist.

Many average users are not even aware of this setting especially since

I have to disagree with Sieghard about turning off wifi assist (unless
 you
simply never leave home). I've been away from home in locations which
were supposed to provide free wifi, but what I've found is that their
 wifi
was so excessively slow, or the signal was so excessively poor, that I
could not use the internet at all without having wifi assist enabled to

switch over to use of cellular data.

I suppose I could keep trying and failing with the wifi, until I figured

out it wasn't going to work, then tell it to go "forget this network",
 so
it would then use my cellular data, but on my next visit it could work
 ok,
but since I had to "forget" the network in order to use cell data, I'd
never know without going through all that again.

I guess I am never this close to using every last byte of my cell data
plan, so I don't have to worry about it, and I simply want my phone to
work and work quickly (especially since I use siri to execute a lot of
 my
commands, and it needs internet access to even parse and execute my
 commands).

Maybe check in Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services.

This is at the end of location services and I would turn off most of

things like traffic, frequent places, cell network search, Wi-fi Network

I sort of agree with Ed, yes, you can check what the underlying URL of a link
is, but not everybody on this list may know how to do this and I actually don't
think one should have to do this. Also, in this case the link wasn't even
forwarding to a particular article with instructions but it was simply pulling
up a page full of Google search results. He could have just as well posted
"Just do a Google search for How to delete pictures from your iPhone" or
whatever the exact search term was he used. Given the various skill levels of
members on the list I think either post nothing or at least post the basic
steps and then it's OK to post a link to an article which describes it in more
detail.

RE: how to delete pictures off of the iPhone

2016-11-15 Thread Mr. Ed
Hi,
I only made the suggestion because I have received emails that were made to
look like my wife had sent me the emails and there was a link to click on in
Mr. Ed

Hi shaf,
I think that when you just post a link and do not say anything about it that is
very rude on your part. I for one like to know what is suppose to be on the
link. With email security these days I have received numerous emails with just
links posted in them. So I and I think everyone else on this list would
appreciate it if you take a little of your time to explain what is on the link.
Thank you and have a good day.

Re: Voiceover volume on the Apple Watch

2016-11-15 Thread Larry Smith
You can also increase or decrease the volume on the watch by double tapping
with 2 fingers. On the second tap, hold and slide up or down to increase or
decrease the volume.

Voiceover volume on the Apple Watch

2016-11-15 Thread Robin Christopherson
Sieghard

On the Watch you can actually do a two-finger double-tap and hold, wait for the
blurpy noise, then move your fingers up or down the screen to change the volume
of VoiceOver.

Thanks, Robin

Sending this a 3rd time. 2 prior attempts as a Reply apparently didn't go
through.

OK, I just tried this.

What eventually worked for me several times in calling myself from my home
phone, was to push the top round button on the side, not the dock rectangular
button.

After pushing the top round button, an Answer button appeared on the screen.
Single finger double tapping on that answered the call. The Answer button
changed to an End button, and single finger double tapping this ended the call.
There is also a Mute button to the right of the End button.

Hope this works for others,

keith

I too have tried doing the magic tap to answer or hang up a call but with no
success.

Would like to know if there is a different gesture or perhaps you can no longer
answer or hang up a call with a simple gesture.

Subject:RE: Voiceover volume on the Apple Watch

I had heard somewhere you could adjust it on the watch and I tried all sorts of
gestures, but the 2-finger double tap and hold/drag was not one of them, thanks
a lot for this since it works great and at least I can now easily lower the
Voiceover volume in the evening. I like to wear the watch over night for sleep
tracking purposes, but sometimes it seems to wake up randomly and Voiceover
then announces the time and while my wife is a sound sleeper, I don't want to
disturb her. At the same time I don't want to turn Voiceover off which is easy
to do since I may want to use the vibration method of checking the time when I
wake up.

One more thing, Aleeha, did I read somewhere about a gesture referred to as
"magic touch" or am I dreaming? I am still trying to figure out the best way to
pick up a phone call on the Apple Watch, a 2-finger double tap which works
great on the phone doesn't seem to do it or at least not reliably.

Hi Aleeha,

Thanks for the tip, I actually wasn't aware you could do that. I just thought
you had to go to the Watch app on the phone to adjust the volume.

Thanks for the tip!

You can also two finger double tap and hold on the watch screen and drag your
fingers up or down. You have to do it slowly, though, or you will run out of
screen.

RE: Voiceover volume on the Apple Watch

2016-11-15 Thread Daniel L. Gervais
Thanks for the info, I also noticed the buttons on the screen when receiving an
incoming call, but what I meant was if there was a finger gesture, similar to
the magic tap, that I could perform instead of navigating through the buttons
and selecting the answer button.

It's kind of like on the iPhone, when receiving a call, you can press on the
button on the screen but you can also do the two finger double tap to answer
the call, and again to hang it up, which is a lot quicker to answer and end
calls.

My apologies for not being clearer in my description.

Hope this works for others,
keith

Would like to know if there is a different gesture or perhaps you can no longer
answer or hang up a call with a simple gesture.

Hi,

Also note you have to do the two finger double tap and hold, then drag softly,
as the watch face is presure sesitive.

Hope this helps,

Sieghard

You can also two finger double tap and hold on the watch screen and drag your
fingers up or down. You have to do it slowly, though, or you will run out of
screen.

I too have tried doing the magic tap to answer or hang up a call but with no

Would like to know if there is a different gesture or perhaps you can no longer
answer or hang up a call with a simple gesture.

Go to Settings > iCloud and double tap on iCloud Photo Library to turn it off
(if it's on to begin with), Voiceover will tell you if it is on or off when you

Re: Voiceover volume on the Apple Watch

2016-11-15 Thread Aleeha Dudley
You can also two finger double tap and hold on the watch screen and drag your
fingers up or down. You have to do it slowly, though, or you will run out of
screen.

RE: how to delete pictures off of the iPhone

2016-11-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Victor and Casey,

First of all, Victor, Casey asked how to delete photos from his phone using the
phone which is why I gave him the steps to do this. Secondly, Casey and Victor,
you cannot delete pictures off your phone any more since iOS 8.3 unless you
don't have "iCloud Photo Library" turned on. If you have iCloud Photo Library
turned on and I venture a lot of people do have it turned on, you can still see
pictures on your phone in Windows Explorer and I am pretty sure you can still
copy them, but you can't delete them since with the introduction of iCloud
Photo Library the file and folder permissions were changed to disallow this.
You can of course turn off iCloud Photo Library which from what I read restores
the ability to delete pictures using Windows Explorer, but then of course your
pictures won't upload to iCloud.

Regards,
Sieghard
