Re: Eyes On Success and Pod catcher?

2016-12-24 Thread Kelly Pierce
If you want free podcatcher options, use the Podcast app that is part
of iOS. Another choice is Overcast, which is highly recommended by
the folks at AppleVis. either one is accessible and you can search
itunes with either one to locate your podcast without needing to enter
the long URL.

Re: KNFB Keeps throwing me out

2016-12-24 Thread englishrider91
Nes, I have. Nothing seems to help. Sometimes I can do 3 or 4 field of view
reports before these weird issues start popping up. The only thing that works
to get rid of them for another unknown amount of time is to cloq the app from
the app switcher and reopen it. It's really weird and frustrating. This
solution is also the only one that will work for the weird non-responsive back
button issue. And yes, I actually have tried deleting and reinstalling, with no
fixing of these issues.

Chip,

Have you had any luck with Braigo?

I couldn’t get it to work.

Very odd.

Richard mentioned alternatives such as Prizmo, but I also want to mention
Braigo (which is free) as one more alternative. I understand $100 is quite a
lot, so I hope one of these alternatives will work for you until you get KNFB.

convenience and speed, but with the bouncing and crashing makes it an

To get anything close to the power of KNFB Reader for quick text recognition,
the ability to scan many pages with batch mode and save it into one file, with
very few taps and good accuracy; you would have to spend around $1000 for an
OCR program on a Windows computer, and a couple hundred on a Mac, plus the
cost of a scanner.

If you do not want or need all that in one app, then Prizmo, TextGrabber or
even now iDentifi can do a very good job for a lot less money.

In my opinion, the biggest draw back with KNFB Reader as compared to computer
scanning programs is that it does not retain formatting for paragraphs.

Any of us who have experienced this should write a note to
supp...@knfbreader.com to let them know (I just did). I also let them know
that this is becoming the subject of public discussion in the VIPhone mailing
list, so they understand this may be used by those who are considering whether
or not to purchase this app. For the price, I certainly feel we have the right
to expect better tech support than the app seems to get, especially since there
are free OCR apps available.

I also discussed this in my app store review, but I also tried to be fair and
said that when it works, it’s very good.

So, please do write to them if you are also experiencing any difficulties.

tossed out of KNFBReader pretty often. What also happens a lot is that I get no
field of view report. It just mays "no report available." Also, another thing
that'll happen is that when I get a successful picture and then press the back

to the main screen. I have to completely close the app to restore functionality.

RE: KNFB Reader, why I think it is worth the money

2016-12-24 Thread Richard Turner
Chip,
Have you had any luck with Braigo?
I couldn’t get it to work.

Very odd.

Richard mentioned alternatives such as Prizmo, but I also want to mention
Braigo (which is free) as one more alternative. I understand $100 is quite a
lot, so I hope one of these alternatives will work for you until you get KNFB.

Yes esepcially here in Mexico it's $1700 Mexican! So yes thanks for
the alternatives! I'll try especially Braigo out, hoping it works with
Spanish materials.

RE: KNFB Keeps throwing me out

2016-12-24 Thread Chip Orange
Hi all,

Any of us who have experienced this should write a note to
supp...@knfbreader.com to let them know (I just did). I also let them know
that this is becoming the subject of public discussion in the VIPhone mailing
list, so they understand this may be used by those who are considering whether
or not to purchase this app. For the price, I certainly feel we have the right
to expect better tech support than the app seems to get, especially since there
are free OCR apps available.

I also discussed this in my app store review, but I also tried to be fair and
said that when it works, it’s very good.

So, please do write to them if you are also experiencing any difficulties.

Sounds exactly like what I experience with my SE. needless to say, the
KNFBReader experience is less than inspiring.

I find myself using other apps like Prismo and iDentifi more often because of
this.

I've tried deleting and reinstalling, as well as closing all apps in the app
switcher before starting, and neither of those things really helped. I get
tossed out of KNFBReader pretty often. What also happens a lot is that I get no
field of view report. It just mays "no report available." Also, another thing
that'll happen is that when I get a successful picture and then press the back
button after all the text has been read, it just sits there and doesn't go back
to the main screen. I have to completely close the app to restore functionality.

Thanks,

Ari

2016-12-24 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I’m sure if enough people suggest support for Google Drive andmaybe OneDrive
KNFB may implement it in a future version.
Interestingly enough I don’t ever recall KNFB kicking me out except I think
when the iOS 10 beta first came out and KNFB didn’t work at all, ever since the
official update came out which supported iOS 10 in September I have no issues
whatsoever.

RE: KNFB Reader, why I think it is worth the money

2016-12-24 Thread Richard Turner
What would be even better, at leat for those having trouble, is if it would
send crash reports to the developers.
I’ve not had any of those issues on a iPhone 5S, 6, 6S or iPod Touch 6th gen.
But for those having these issues, some way for it to send crash reports could
help them identify what is going on.

The thing is, I don’t even recall so many issues like these mentioned with my
old 5S. Who knows, maybe it was a recent update where they started to pop up.
Often, if I want to scan a fax or letter or even something quick like food
packaging, this is where you notice all the issues. Sometimes, you want
convenience and speed, but with the bouncing and crashing makes it an
exercise in frustration.
The onething I wish they would include and I’ve written KNFB about is to
be able to back up to Google Drive. Not just DropBox.

RE: KNFB Keeps throwing me out

2016-12-24 Thread Richard Turner
Ari,
Have you tried doing the memory clear, or whatever it is called? Hold down the
power button until it says “power off” then, instead of powering off, hold the
home button down until the phone starts talking again. Be sure to use a
different finger than the fingerprint one if you have fingerprint recognition
set.

Good luck. This has to be rather annoying.

Thanks,

Re: Recording apps

2016-12-24 Thread SSEric
I have both, and I think they probably are each good for different things. If I
am getting someone's contact information, the Just Press Record app is nice
because of its ability to transcribe. That saves having to memorize information
as you switch from the recording to your contact list. Just for quick
recording's, you can't beat dropbox, though. It is so simple to start and stop.

Re: Punctuations In Dictation?

2016-12-24 Thread Richard Turner

Hi,
Have you tried saying exactly what you said in your email. For an exclamation
mark say "exclamation mark" without the quotation marks. And to have it do an
equals sign, rather than just the word equals, say "equals sign."
I hope that helps.
Richard

Any help regarding punctuation in dictation is much appreciated.
Thanks!
