RE: question about viphone emails

2017-02-16 Thread M. Taylor
Hello,

Just so you know, I am replying to your question, on-list.

I am not completely certain that I understand your question.

At present, whether or not you receive a copy of the emails you post to the
list, will depend upon the settings of your email client.

For example, when I send messages to the list via Outlook for Windows, I
receive a copy of the message, just as everyone else does. Frankly, this is my
preferred configuration as I like to have a confirmation that the message was
posted.

However, when I send a message to the group via my MacOS mail client, I do not
receive a copy unless I configure the client to do so.

I hope this helps to answer your question.

Mark

Mark,

I signed up for VI phone and show that I do not want to receive emails related
to topics I post. Although I received a rather helpful email from a member
regarding one of the topics that I posted about. Not certain if there is a way
to know if they contacted me off list? Or if my settings are allowing for
email’s from users to come to my inbox?

Hi,
Thanks for not revoking posting privileges. I did try to ask permission to post
an other time a few weeks ago without any answer. I used the online form on the
google groups sight to contact the owner. The moderator address was nowhere to
be found. THanks for updating it.

It should make it easier for me and others to respect the guide lines of the
list this way.

Best,

Iona

I apologize for the problem of not having the official moderator email work

Consequently, I have, once again, updated the group list footer information,

Again, my apologies for any embarrassment this may have caused.

Sincerely,

You have to install the new official webvisum from the Firefox plug-in page and
then it will work again.

Hello folks,

Is there an iOS app that can be used to resolve captchas? In the past I used to
use webvisum with firefox. Lately, I have not been able to use it. When I
launch firefox and go to the addons manager I get the message that webvisum
could not be verified and it has been disabled. I find no button or option to
enable it. Has anyone else encountered such a problem?

In any case, If there is an accessible iOS app to resolve captchas, that would
solve the problem for me.

I appreciate your help and suggestions.

Regards,

Cris

If it's possible, swipe up with three fingers to get to the next page of the
website, and flick backwards till you reach the button to double tap. This
helps also for filling in edit boxes that you might not be able to write in
initially. Though you may be hearing certain things, the voiceover focus might
not be there, which is why you do this.

  Hello:

When using the uber and lyft apps, I’ve noticed that when I input a specific
pick up address, the apps show a pick up point as one street over from my
physical location or to meet at an intersection pick up. This is disconcerting
when I am not exactly at their shown location. What do I need to do to have
these apps reflect my exact specific location? Thanks in advance.

question about viphone emails

2017-02-16 Thread solaunmarissa2007
Mark,

I signed up for VI phone and show that I do not want to receive emails
related to topics I post. Although I received a rather helpful email from a
member regarding one of the topics that I posted about. Not certain if there
is a way to know if they contacted me off list? Or if my settings are
allowing for email's from users to come to my inbox?

Hi Rajmund,

Viphone+Owner would, as the name suggests, go to Cara who is the list owner.
Viphone+Moderator is meant to go to Mark who is the list moderator.
Email lists usually have emails for both owners and moderators and I assume
it's probably just a setting that needs to be changed so the messages sent to
these addresses don't also come to the list.

I double checked that under Gmail contacts are switched to on , these

My guess, is that maybe the iPhone just remembers that I have conversed with
these individuals in the past. It goes ahead and saves the email address?

it ended up in my viphone folder. Did this go to the list?

Thanks for clarifying.

Native mail application question

2017-02-16 Thread Marissa Solaun
Viphone group,

Question related to the native mail app running iOS 10.2.1 on an iPhone 6. So I
have email addresses that show up in the auto complete of people that I used to
converse with quite sometime ago. I know that you can double tap on the more
info icon next to the email address, and double tap on remove from recents.

My question is: I have gotten rid of those email addresses before they keep
showing up each time if I have to delete my email account for some reason ( and
set it up again.) why do the addresses keep showing up if I have already
clicked remove from recents.

I double checked that under Gmail contacts are switched to on , these
individuals do not show up on the list. And, they are not on the computer
contacts list either.

My guess, is that maybe the iPhone just remembers that I have conversed with
these individuals in the past. It goes ahead and saves the email address?

RE: is there an app to resolve Captchas?

2017-02-16 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
You have to install the new official webvisum from the Firefox plug-in page and
then it will work again.

Subject: is there an app to resolve Captchas?

Hello folks,
Is there an iOS app that can be used to resolve captchas? In the past I used to
use webvisum with firefox. Lately, I have not been able to use it. When I
launch firefox and go to the addons manager I get the message that webvisum
could not be verified and it has been disabled. I find no button or option to
enable it. Has anyone else encountered such a problem?
In any case, If there is an accessible iOS app to resolve captchas, that would
solve the problem for me.
I appreciate your help and suggestions.

Regards,

Cris

Subject: exact location finding with uber and lyft apps

Re: onscreen keyboard problem

2017-02-16 Thread Kimber Gardner
Sandy,

The apple accessibility tech seemed to think it had something to do
with Bluetooth as well. He had me turn off Bluetooth altogether after
unpairing my amazon basics keyboard and my focus display though none
of these actions brought back the keyboard.

I have seen posts from sighted users who say they have the vanishing
keyboard problem but no definite cause or resolution. One of the
suggestions was to restore the phone completely. I absolutely did not
want to do this which was why I called apple accessibility.

In any case, it's a thorny problem and I hope Apple gets it resolved
in a future release.

Re: A question about Whatsapp.

2017-02-16 Thread Jan Kleinhans
Hi

There is a web option for whatsapp, although I don't know how accessible this
is using the computer. I think there is also some code that has to be scanned
in for the web service. Other than that you have to use a valid cell phone
number for whatsapp to work. A group has a group admin person which has to add
you to a specific group, and for that he will have to have your phone number.

How do you get in to a group? Do you always have to share your phone number
or can you do it via email or the web?

Re: onscreen keyboard problem

2017-02-16 Thread 'Sandratomkins' via VIPhone
Kimber,
I have always thought that this was a Bluetooth issue. iOS 10 X has been
plagued with Bluetooth issues. perhaps, it is Bluetooth plus voice-over
related? when it happens to me, I have the impression that the phone is still
thinking it is connected to my Bluetooth keyboard, even though that keyboard is
switched off. often, it might say "quick nav on" which implies to me that it is
thinking the keyboard is connected.

next time it happens to me, I shall try your method with locating the edit box,
turning off voice-over, and then tapping the middle of the screen once. thanks
for the tip!

Re: Onscreen keyboard problem persists

2017-02-16 Thread Kimber Gardner
Sandy,

What you are calling "putting the phone to sleep" is what I meant by
locking the phone. Each time I did that the keyboard would disappear.

I posted another message describing my call to apple accessibility and
the steps the tech took to bring back my onscreen keyboard. In short,
when you have focus on an edit field, turn off VO then do a single
finger single tap in the center of the screen. Turn VO back on and
your onscreen keyboard will be displayed. It's not a solution, but
it's a viable work-around.

I hope this helps.

Re: onscreen keyboard problem

2017-02-16 Thread Kimber Gardner
Please do report your onscreen keyboard problems to Apple
accessibility. I spoke with someone yesterday and he told me they have
other reports from voiceover users who are having trouble with the
onscreen keyboard disappearing. He took me through several steps --
most of which I had already tried to no avail. But the one thing he
had me do and that worked was this. He had me open an app where I was
seeing the disappearing keyboard problem and put focus on the edit
field. He then had me turn off VO with the triple click of the home
button. While VO was off, he had me do a single tap with one finger in
the center of the screen. He said this gesture would cause the
keyboard to appear and it did. I turned VO back on and haven't had any
problem since.

He seemed convinced that the disappearing keyboard was VO related, but
we were unable to reliably reproduce the problem which will make it
difficult to address.

One more thing I noticed, while I was having the problem, there was a
button displaying under settings, general, keyboard that indicated the
presence of a hardware keyboard. When the disappearing keyboard
problem cleared up that button was gone. So there is definitely a VO
related issue, we just don't know how to reproduce it or the
underlying cause.

Due to the fact that Roger will be going away eventually, my Roger groups are
migrating over to Whatsapp. I have a couple of questions. 1. If you record a
voice message that you don't want to keep, can you delete individual messages?
When clearing a chat, does this action clear the messages? I do not want to
accidentally delete myself from a group.

Have you ever gave Karen, the Australian female voice from one of the voicing

I use Karen for my VoiceOver voice and the British female for Siri. I picture
Karen as a drop dead gorgeous (can't decide upon hair color) brunette or

Re: Onscreen keyboard problem persists

2017-02-16 Thread 'Sandratomkins' via VIPhone
Kimberley,
I very rarely lock my phone. I merely put it to sleep. so, though this is
doubtless a bug, would you try doing that and see if your keyboard will come
back for you? by locking the phone, I mean, getting that "iPhone shutting down"
message. perhaps, I had misunderstood you…

as for when it started, I have had issues with the on screen keyboard and,
indeed, the Bluetooth keyboard, ever since iOS 10, at least!

sorry I can't help, but if you find a solution, do let me know!
