Ok, so it’s a rice cooker pot and supermarket in a single device.

See this is why people are getting lazy,
We don’t do things without having app to help us do it.

RE: Freestyle Libre or Dexcom?

2020-01-31 Thread Simon A Fogarty
The libre doesn’t by default sync with the phone,

You need to wave the phone near it.

Dexcom does sync auto with the phone from a somewhat distance
There is an adapter you can get called a miaomiao that you can stick on to the
libre which uses Bluetooth to sync with the phone.

It does not work with a 6S or earlier because they did not have an NFC chip
which was available for third party developers, it was locked down to allow
Apple Pay and that’s it.
The iPhone 7 and later have an NFC chip which developers can access and use for
their apps/devices.

Hi all,
Yes, this is very much iPhone related. I have a question about two glucose
readers. One is the Freestyle Libre and the other is the Dexcom. I know that
the Libre app is accessible but I don't know anything about the Dexcom. My
doctor wants me to get the Dexcom because it has alarms and the Libre does not.
The downside of it is that you have to enter in codes every so often. To me,
if it is accessible that doesn't really matter because there is always Aira or
some way to work that out. I also noticed that the Libre link app does not
work on the 6 S. Anyone know why? Or do you have a customer service number?
Does anyone have any answers or where I can go to find out more? Thanks in

1. VoiceOver cannot read anything if focus is not on it. So you cannot read the
address bar without moving to it.
2. Try control+up-arrow to move to the top left. BTW, the address bar is at the
top of the screen.
3. Control+down-arrow, to go to the bottom right.

the paid version of WinZip, and that won’t.

Yeah I noticed that on an older key board / mouse set,
In the battery compartment there is a little slot to sit the USB dongle so it
doesn’t get lost.

Yes, at least for Logitech this is pretty standard, they also do this with
their K780 keyboard which includes a USB dongle and I think some of their mice
also have a spot to put in the USB dongle.
I think it’s not necessarily important to bring the dongle as close to your
keyboard as possible, but to keep it a few feet away from any devices which may
interfere such as the computer itself, a wireless modem etc. The range is quite
good, I can use my K780 most places in my 1,100 square foot house and that is
with the laptop being in my office which is all the way on one end of the
house, if I had it more in the middle it would work everywhere.

Sieghard,

Thanks. I figured the USB extension cable was to allow placement of the dongle
closer to the keyboard for use with a desktop computer. What I didn't realize
was that when opening a new keyboard package, that the dongle was in the
keyboard's battery compartment. Maybe that's a standard practice for USB dongle
devices but this is my first one and I didn't realize that.

Hi Alan,

The USB extension cable is meant so you can plug your USB dongle into the end
of it and then plug the cable into your computer. If you plug the dongle
straight into the computer, especially if it’s in a port in the back, you loose
a lot of range and may get interference which you don’t get if you use this
cable and put the receiver 3 or 4 feet away (I think that cable is 4 feet long.
I get the same improvement with my Logitech H800 headset when using it with the
USB dongle. If I plug it straight into the computer I can’t use my headset in
my bedroom next door to the office. If I use a USB extension cable and hang it
on the wall a few feet above the laptop it’s no problem.
One thing I have yet to figure out is whether the same dongle can be used for
the keyboard and the headset. Logitech calls it a “unifying receiver” and you
can definitely use a USB receiver and the Logitech Options software to pair
another keyboard or a mouse to it, but I am not sure about the headset. I have
often wished Logitech would make a USB keyboard with a 3.5mm headphone jack on
it so I could either plug speakers or a headset straight into the keyboard.

Regards,
Sieghard

Hi List,

I wanted to comment about a couple of issues setting up the Logitech G613
Lightspeed keyboard that would have been helpful for me had I known about them.

  1. The USB dongle or transmitter that sends the signal to the keyboard is
housed in the keyboard's battery compartment not in the box with the keyboard,
USB extension cable, and smart phone/tablet stand. I was totally unaware that
this item existed and was assuming what is the USB extension cable also
included the USB transmitter. The transmitter is very small and is reminiscent
of a micro thumb drive. The battery compartment can be found on the bottom of
the keyboard toward the top and to the left of center when the keyboard is face
up. I would never have located the USB transmitter if my sighted brother wasn't
aware of it from the pictures on Amazon and gone looking for it.
  2. The keyboard uses two double A batteries which are user replaceable and
come installed in the unit.

HTH.

Playing Dropbox Files

2020-01-31 Thread Duane Steele
Hello again, iPhone listers,

First, let me say thanks for the info from Sighard about playing dropbox files
in the Files APP. That works as an alternative for trying to play files in
Dropbox itself. A second option is to download any dropbox files you want into
Voice Dream Reader. Both of these solve the issue of playing Dropbox files.
However, this doesn't excuse the APP developers for making files difficult to
open in the APP as they have always done until most recent updates. I have
contacted Dropbox support for advice on how they will solve this issue, and
will share what I learn. They're notorious for taking their time in actually
addressing issues. But they have given me a ticket number. So I'll keep on
this. Meantime, I trust the alternatives suggested by Sighard and myself will
work.

App for Scanning ASIN?

2020-01-31 Thread Fazil
Hi,list.

Is there an app that can scan ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number)?

Do we have ASIN on the product itself or just in the catalogue?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi to all. I've got my iPhone 8 and am still using IOS 12.41. If I'm in any
app, I like to sometimes go to my status bar and say check the time, or maybe
check my bluetooth speaker battery level or the battery of my iPhone. Once
this is done, what can I do to quickly get back to the app I was in without
maybe hitting my home button which closes everything or having to go into the
app switcher. Thanks for any help. I contacted apple accessibility, and they
weren't much help.

Freestyle Libre or Dexcom?

2020-01-31 Thread Kay Malmquist
Hi all,
Yes, this is very much iPhone related. I have a question about two glucose
readers. One is the Freestyle Libre and the other is the Dexcom. I know
that the Libre app is accessible but I don't know anything about the Dexcom.
My doctor wants me to get the Dexcom because it has alarms and the Libre
does not. The downside of it is that you have to enter in codes every so
often. To me, if it is accessible that doesn't really matter because there
is always Aira or some way to work that out. I also noticed that the Libre
link app does not work on the 6 S. Anyone know why? Or do you have a
customer service number? Does anyone have any answers or where I can go to
find out more? Thanks in advance.

Please tell me why on earth he wants to keep audio books zipped at all

OK. I did find the camera button. Thanks.

Carolyn, if you are talking about text messages in iMessages, you open the
conversation.
Near the bottom of the screen, find the camera button, then flick right passed
the apps button and there is an edit box.
Double tap so it says editing, and type or dictate your message, flick right
once to send and double tap.
There is no reply button.
You are just continuing the conversation.

Carolyn:

I was wrong about where the 'send' button is. It is just below the
message you have just entered.

Also, if you have opened an attachment, like a video, you need to go
back to the main message to write and send your text.

please write to h...@flexibits.com

It used to be that in the month view, you could explore the screen and find
everyday of the month.

Now, maybe 3 days out of a week speak their name and date and number of events,
but the rest just click, click, click.

I'm pissed!

You should read about all the changes before updating.
I stupidly updated, and wish I had not.

2020-01-31 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
Alex, why doesn't your friend use 7zip to make regular zip files.
That's what I do whenever I zip audio books into zip files for either
voice dream reader or NLS books for the files app then transfer them
to bard mobile. I can't think of the last time I used 7zip to make an
actual .7z file. I've used 7zip on my computer for years with no

RE: update on the Bluetooth Instant pot

2020-01-31 Thread territek
The older Bluetooth one. I had lots of trouble with the Bluetooth connection in
IOS12… and frankly was afraid to try in v13 even though the company had updated
the app. Because the Bluetooth is not made anymore, I did not have any
expectations that the update would improve Bluetooth connectivity for VO. So a
very pleasant surprise.

RE: A couple of setting up comments about the Logitech G613 Lightspeed Wireless mechanical gaming keyboard

2020-01-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
It is both. If you pair it to an iOS device or a Mac is knows this and acts as
an Apple keyboard if you pair it to a PC it works like a regular PC keyboard
except that if you want the function keys to work as function keys you have to
install Logitech Options which for many is not accessible/possible without
sighted help.
Once installed open Logitech Options and tab until you hear a checkbox which
says something like “Use F1 through F12 as standard function keys”, check it
and you are good to go.
Not sure if function keys are used much on a Mac, never used one and never will.

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: How to program the programmable keys on the Logitec G613 Lightspeed mechanical gaming keyboard

2020-01-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Yes, that left most button at the top is a slider and it disables the Windows
key which apparently is something many gamers like to do so they don’t
accidently hit it and the Windows/Cortana search box comes up in the middle of
their game.
I can’t remember if it has to be to the left or to the right, but you can
simply try it, push it to the left if it’s in the right position and if your
Windows keys work then it obviously has to be to the left, if they don’t work
it has to be to the right.
The other two keys switch between the USB dongle and Bluetooth, Bluetooth is
the one on the very right, USB is the middle one if you count the slider as a
button, it sort of looks/feels the same.
On the very top is a large button which is a volume rocker, press on the right
side and volume goes up, press on the left and volume goes down, immediately to
the left of that is a button which is the Mute toggle.

Another thought I have had is using Jaws scripts to substitute actions for the
left hand keys. I assume they have different scan codes than the regular F1-F6
keys but don’t know how to find out what they use.

Also, my Windows keys are disabled from time to time. I had installed the GHUB

Any ideas appreciated.

Territek,

Thanks for these detailed instructions. It's so nice that we still know how to
use words to explain things when so many companies seem to be moving to
pictorial and image explanations that leave lots to be desired even for those
not using screen readerss.

I will say that with how involved programming these keys seems to be, I think
I'll leave them as they are.

Thank you Sieghard,
I discovered that as well. Here is some of the information that a sighted
person took from the website. Most of it was image text so not easily accessed
by JAWS users. These are step by step directions. Setting up will still require
sighted assistance though.

How to customize keys on Logitech keyboards -
1)Download GHUB software.
2)Install the app and open it.
3)Click on the keyboard picture in the middle of the window after boot up.
4)Upon clicking a list of 3 menus appears in the extreme left of the
application window.
5)The order of items would be color, Assignments and game mode
6)click on the second menu from the top or assignment menu. It opens a small
set of the menu on the right side.
7)The newly opened menu has options like commands, keys, actions, macros &
systems. These are organized
in two rows. The first row has commands, keys, actions & rest are in the
second row.
8)To map any predefined functions to a G key, click on the command. It opens a
list of commands below.
9)The commands are listed down in order and categorized as windows and mac
respectively.
10) Choose any command from the list and drag it to the key, you want to
assign, and leave it.
11)For creating your own commands, click on macros(just below command option).
12)You will encounter a button of "create your micro" while navigating down on
the same location. Click on that button.
13)Upon clicking, You will be presented with a new window where you need to
specify a name for the micro.
14)After entering the name, you will be prompted to select a type of macro.
Types are No repeat, Repeat while, toggle, sequence.
15)select a type and it will provide some configurations specific to that type.
And below you will have menus like actions, open application, record, and some
more options. It would be 6-7 options in total. Click on any as required.
16)Save the macro on the same screen by clicking save toward the bottom of the
screen.
17)After save, you would come back to the macros menu and would find the
created macros just below the "create your own" button.
18)Now drag the macros to the key you want to assign to.
19)And you can now use that key to activate.

devices but this is my first one and I didn't realize that.

Regards,

Sieghard

Wireless mechanical gaming keyboard

HTH.

If you have sighted help who is somewhat technologically capable, e.g. they
know the basics about dragging and dropping etc. it’s not so hard to do.
You might even be able to ask Microsoft Accessibility to help with this or
Aira, if you are subscribing since something like this would take more than 5
minutes although I guess you could try and argue that you were trying to do
this with Jaws and couldn’t accomplish it and they may help under the Jaws
promo.

It will do all of what you said, but it will also let you program the 6 G-keys
on the left. Sorry, I use that keyboard at work and therefore can’t check now,
but I do know that while I could see/read some stuff in that application, I had
to get one of my employees to drag and drop things onto those keys to make them
do what I wanted.

RE: A couple of setting up comments about the Logitech G613 Lightspeed Wireless mechanical gaming keyboard

2020-01-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

RE: Downloading A YouTube Video in iPhone5S?

2020-01-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I just Googled this and even at only a resolution of 720P, it looks like a 10
minute video is between 90 and 100 Mb. This means a 34 minute video at 720 P
would be between 306 and 340 Mb.
At 1080P, which is high definition, 10 minutes are between 140 and 150 Mb, a 34
minute 1080P video would therefore be 476 to 510 Mb.
If it’s in 4K resolution is would be well over 1 Gigabyte.

RE: using the phone for translations

2020-01-31 Thread 'deidre muccio' via VIPhone
Richard

Yes, now that I say that, it's kind of funny cause I must hear the Spanish
first in order to pronounce it properly! I can also capture native speakers and
translate that way too when they are around. Mostly I am studying on my own and
reading emails that are now all coming in in Spanish! Hah! It's timely to look
all that stuff up. Even if I get a single word - noun, adverb, or verb
translated that goes a long way to comprehending what is written.wor

I will look for the Microsoft Translator app pronto.

Fantastic! I have one of these keyboards at my desk and one in the bedroom.
Apparently that switch was getting moved without my knowledge when the
keyboards were being moved around.

I had spent a lot of time developing work arounds and really appreciate your
input.

Another thought I have had is using Jaws scripts to substitute actions for the
left hand keys. I assume they have different scan codes than the regular F1-F6
keys but don’t know how to find out what they use.

Also, my Windows keys are disabled from time to time. I had installed the GHUB
software but shutting it down does not seem to have any effect.

Carolyn, if you are talking about text messages in iMessages, you open the

Near the bottom of the screen, find the camera button, then flick right passed
the apps button and there is an edit box.
Double tap so it says editing, and type or dictate your message, flick right

There is no reply button.
You are just continuing the conversation.

Also, if you have opened an attachment, like a video, you need to go back to

RE: How to program the programmable keys on the Logitec G613 Lightspeed mechanical gaming keyboard

2020-01-31 Thread Tony
Another thought I have had is using Jaws scripts to substitute actions for the
left hand keys. I assume they have different scan codes than the regular F1-F6
keys but don’t know how to find out what they use.

Also, my Windows keys are disabled from time to time. I had installed the GHUB
software but shutting it down does not seem to have any effect.

Any ideas appreciated.

Tony

Hello all,

I know this is a long shot, but I’m hoping someone can help. I downloaded the
Logitech hub app as indicated on the Logitech site, but that seems to be all
about programming different personnas, lighting, and controls specific to

OK, I may not have been clear.
If it is a zip file of mp3 files, Voice Dream will open it and treat it like a
book, and each file will be a chapter as it were.
It handles everything internally.
So just share it to Voice Dream Reader and choose either save or open and it
should just work.

RE: Unzipping and listening to an audio tutorial on the iPhone

2020-01-31 Thread Alan Lemly
Kimberly,

Just to make sure you picked this up from Michael's and Richard's posts, you
don't need to unzip the files you want to read with Voice Dream Reader. You
just need to add them to your Voice Dream library either using the Add button
in the Voice Dream app or with a share button in the source app. Provided the
underlying files included within the zip archive are supported by Voice Dream,
it should read them just fine with no need to unzip them.

I was wrong about where the 'send' button is. It is just below the message you
have just entered.

Also, if you have opened an attachment, like a video, you need to go back to
the main message to write and send your text.

Re: Unzipping and listening to an audio tutorial on the iPhone

2020-01-31 Thread Joshua Hendrickson
I also highly recommend voice dream reader. It was the best $15 I
ever spent. I love all the really cool text to speech voices I can
purchase to listen to ebooks like those from bookshare and also my
Harry Potter fanfiction I have in .txt format works very well as well.
I like to zip up books from graphic audio then listen to a book on my
new bose revolve plus speaker. Listening to mp3 zipped books works
really well.

RE: Unzipping and listening to an audio tutorial on the iPhone

2020-01-31 Thread Richard Turner
Michael’s recommendation to use Voice Dream Reader would also be my first
suggestion.
IN the Files app, if you have Voice Dream Reader, there may be a share button
to share it with Voice Dream Reader.
Otherwise, in Voice Dream Reader, choose Add, then file browser and you should
be able to find it.

Also, if you are running iOS 13, you should be able to unzip it inside the
Files app, then I think you could play the files in there, but not as easily as
with Voice Dream Reader.

Re: Unzipping and listening to an audio tutorial on the iPhone

2020-01-31 Thread Michael Feir
Tead of unzipping it, you could import it into Voice Dream Reader. That app
is wonderful for listening to zipped mp3 books and lots of other kinds of
books and documents as well. You can unzip files directly in the Files app
and then use something like VLC Media Player to import the files into but
Voice Dream Reader makes it much more simple.

RE: How to program the programmable keys on the Logitec G613 Lightspeed mechanical gaming keyboard

2020-01-31 Thread territek

Hello all,

I know this is a long shot, but I’m hoping someone can help. I downloaded the
Logitech hub app as indicated on the Logitech site, but that seems to be all
about programming different personnas, lighting, and controls specific to
different games. I just want to program the six G-keys for dddspecific key
combinations.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Downloading A YouTube Video in iPhone5S?

2020-01-31 Thread Fazil
Hi, list.

I have iPhone5S and iOS 12.3-something, I mean the latest iOS for iPhone5S.

Yesterday, I downloaded a YouTube video from the Download option inside
youTube and I have done it for the first-time. YouTube gave me some
compression option, I picked up the smallest size and Download started.

Now when I go to download, youTube asks me if I want to delete from
download. It also tells me that this video can not be viewed offline.
YouTube, however, does not tell me how to share it.

My question is that if I want to share this 34-minute-video on WhatsApp, can
I do that?

Where can I find this video?

Thanks!
