Yes and it should be on by default.
It is my favorite GPS app. I am often the navigator for my wife.
Keep the VO focus off the next turn which is in the upper left corner, or it
will drive you 'round the bend chattering all the time. But you can also touch
there to get the distance to the next turn and then flick to the right to get
off that spot.

You should be given an option to pair using a code. I'm not certain, on how
this was accomplished. It has been a year since I tried pairing using the code.
It must of have been more trouble & just as time consuming, being I've used the
camera to pair since initial setup.

Caller being announced using BT headphones

2022-08-22 Thread Marty Hutchings
I have my phone set to announce the caller and this works fine if I am
not using my Shokx headphones, but when I am using them, the phone rings
without announcing the caller's name or the number. Is there any way to
get this to work?

Thanks,

Marty H.

RE: Apple watch

2022-08-22 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi Loreal.

I listened to a tutorial on initially pairing the watch. The steps were done so
quickly that I’m not remembering everything. I’ll tell you what I remember, and
perhaps this will be enough to get you there.

First, on the Apple Watch, set the language and region.

Once that’s done, you should find an option to start pairing the Watch.

Here’s where I’m a little unsure. You need to know the name of your Watch so
you can pair it with the iPhone. It’s a Bluetooth name, so it will be a bit
cryptic. It’s what you need to know to find it on the iPhone.

Whether you get it before you start the Watch pairing or after is what I don’t
know. However it is, get where it tells you to get the image in the camera of
the phone.

Once on that seemingly useless image, examine the watch screen with Voiceover.
You’ll find a Pair Manually button, and that’s what you want to double tap.

Now, go to the Watch app on your phone, and start pairing on it.

Find your watch on the next screen and double tap on it.

If I remember correctly, the watch will announce a 6 digit code. Enter it on
the phone app.

If all goes well, your Watch and phone will now be paired.

That’s what I remember. If you still have problems, let me know and I’ll listen
to the tutorial again.

Have a blessed day and don’t work too hard.

If you just want to reset the watch, do one of the two following.

Press and hold the crown and side button at the same time for 10 seconds.

The other method might be where you’ll find other reset things. On your iPhone,

Go to General. In there, there’s a reset option. Perhaps there’s a reset to

Siri & activation tone

2022-08-22 Thread Donna Casteen
Hi All,

Is there a setting to turn on an activation tone when using siri?? My iPhone &
watch both vibrate when I activate siri, having a tone will also be helpful. I
do not use Hey Siri, it is turned off.

Donna

Apple watch

2022-08-22 Thread Loreal Lavigna
I just got an Apple Watch Series 7, and while the T-Mobile in-store customer
service person was willing and able to set my watch up for me, and attach it
to my phone for me also, what are the steps for how to set an apple watch
form factory default settings? I know someone, possibly Jonathan Mosen, did
a step-by-step about this perhaps a year or so back, but for the life of me
I can't remember when it was.

You probably already have the number for Apple Accessibility, but in case you

You’re right; I talked to someone this morning, and I couldn’t hear VoiceOVer.
I think there may be a setting buried somewhere that changes this behavior; it
might be worth checking with Apple Accessibility if it’s not possible for the
person to call on a different phone.

Best,

Re: Thoughts on Brailliant?

2022-08-22 Thread Ed Worrell
Hello,

The basic navigation commands between the Braillenote Apex and the Brailliant
are the same. Your wife should not have any issues transferring her knowledge
to the new display. Humanware has done a great job with making it comfortable
for long time braille users to simply pick it up and use it.

RE: is there a way?

2022-08-22 Thread Carolyn
As far as my experience goes, one cannot hear Voiceover unless using another
phone, which I do when talking to Apple Accessibility; they can hear Voiceover
then. Otherwise a caller can't. Sometimes, while talking to someone, I'll go in
and check weather or texts messages, etc. They cannot hear it when I do that. I
have gotten other phone numbers for people, and they cannot hear Voiceover.

Anna,

Has something changed? The microphone never used to pick up what VoiceOver was
saying while I was on a phone call and I thought if that is the case anyway,
the person being helped might be able to concentrate more with the earphones…

But if VoiceOver comes through on the phone, that would be ideal.

Re: is there a way?

2022-08-22 Thread Richard Turner
If the iPhone is their only phone; you still could simply call him.
I'd recommend he use earphones, but you could tell him things to do; and he
could try them while on the call with you. The downside is you won't hear what
his VoiceOver is saying, but he could report to you what it says. This will be
tedious, but can be done.
I've also heard that Teamviewer quick support can be used; but he would have to
be able to download the app, etc; which sounds unlikely at this point.

Just a thought. Have you considered trying to use Screen Recording to record
little sessions and then sending them to your friend? BlindAbilities just did
a podcast on how to use the screen recording feature. I would recommend giving
it a listen to see if it is something you could use. Here is the link.

Check out episode: iPhone101: A Deeper Dive - Screen Recording on the iPhone
