Weird Recording Bug

2022-09-23 Thread Brandon A. Olivares
So I was recording a video of myself playing the piano. And I noticed that the
sound sort of cut in and out, or almost like the volume was being adjusted
throughout the video.

It's hard to describe, but maybe you can tell from the YouTube video:

https://youtu.be/Ki2VyfHlqvU

What exactly is going on here? Is there some way to disable this? I used to get
really nice sound quality from recording on the iPhone.

This was done in the Camera app.

Thanks,
Brandon

RE: Siri Does Not Speak Responses

2022-09-23 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi.

I'm not having any trouble with Siri using iOS 16.0.2 on my iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Wonder if Siri has its own volume setting, similar to Voiceover?

RE: iOS 16.02 is available with VO fixes

2022-09-23 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi.

I have notifications on the lock screen. I flick up to the clear option on the
notification. It’s still there. If I flick up, instead of clear, there’s a
dismiss option. If I activate that option, the notification is gone.

Just letting folks know what works for me.

For me a notification sometimes seems to still be there, but if I flick down
nothing happens so it's actually gone but Voiceover still thinks it is there.
Usually if I flick to another notification and back it then sorts Itself out.

Re: No speaker while using Amazon app

2022-09-23 Thread 'Kimberly Samco' via VIPhone
Hi,

Thanks so much for the suggestion sadly it didn’t work. Here’s what I did; I
opened the Amazon app, then press the home button to close it, press the home
button twice to go into the app switcher and then opened the Amazon app from
there. Is this what you had in mind?

Thanks,

Kim

Yes, I get a similar response, I’m told: sorry you need to continue in BBC
Sounds, which is ridiculous since BBc Sounds is the BBC radio app.

Yes, adding "by Apple Music" works, but I never used to have to do this. One
would imagine that if you use Apple Music this should be the default.

Hi Sieghard,

Have you tried asking for it on Apple Music, such as “Play Dire Straits on
Apple Music?” Maybe asking it that way once will sort it out.

Best,
Anna

RE: Accessible thermostats

2022-09-23 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I think you should look at the Honeywell T9 or T10 or maybe they have an even
newer one, these work with what used to be called the Honeywell Home app and
this is now called Resideo which is I believe a company they bought.
The app is the same, it was just a name change a few weeks ago, but it's quite
accessible and whenever I see advertising for Honeywell thermostats it is
always about them and this app and not the Total Comfort Control which I think
is older. But you can maybe just Google "Honeywell Total Comfort Control vs
Resideo" and see what you find.

I have a low voltage guy coming out tomorrow, and while they’re here, I’d like
to ask them about upgrading my thermostat to something accessible. I currently
have a Honeywell thermostat, and I remember hearing good news about their
accessibility. Do I just need to make sure I get a smart wifi thermostat that
supports Honeywell’s Total Comfort Control app? Anything else I need to be
aware of? What about any other options, like Nest? Thanks for the info and tips.

Well, I got 16, then 16.0.2. I got a phone call. How did I know? I found it in
Notifications.

I asked my husband, did you hear my phone ring about half an hour ago. He did
not. I did not. So we called from his phone, did not hear.

Bottom line: I went to Settings and Sounds and Haptics, and Ringer Volume was
at 7%! So, I fixed that.

RE: mail weirdness since latest update.

2022-09-23 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Maria,

The only thing that comes to mind is the sync settings for the gMail account in
question. This is to say, in the settings area for mail, on the account page
in question, you should have the number of days to sync to "no limit". I think
the default when you add an account is 1 day.

Good luck,

Mark

Subject: mail weirdness since latest update.

HI.
i am really enjoying the latest update. There is just one thing that’s strange
with my email. I have a gmail account with several folders and messages
filtered in to those folders. I also have messages that are not filtered that
go in to the main inbox. My mac, and iPod that are not updated behave normally.
I can see messages in the inbox etc. When i go to the inbox, on my iphone SE
2022 however, I see my messages that have been filtered in to other folders,
But, when i go to the main inbox, I see there is unread mail and the phone
checks for email. It says it was updated after quite a long time and then says
no mail and the inbox is empty. It doesn’t seem to download anything.
I have tried rebooting the phone and the app, tried off loading mail and
reinstalling it, and have also tried deleting and re adding the account. Is
this a know issue? Is my phone just being weird?
PS if i go to the in box on my iPod and mac, i see all the messages i am
supposed to see.

thanks in advance.

Carolyn; I found it, particularly most helpful to restart your phone a few times. That did not remove all the idiosyncrasies. However, the phone runs a lot smoother than it did.Sent from my iPhone 13 Pro!!On Sep 23, 2022, at 5:44 PM, Carolyn <4carol...@windstream.net> wrote:Well, I got 16, then 16.0.2. I got a phone call. No. I was just looking at a bookshare book and had my navigation set

2022-09-23 Thread Gerardo Corripio
Yeah I've done that with Twitter for instance, but the way I've gotten to the submenu, is double-tapping, and holding the 2nd press. This does work, but for instance, in Whatsapp, it puts you in the Reply field too. At least for now... it's a partial workaround. Nevertheless I hope this bug gets fixed soon!GeraEnviado desde mi iPhone SE (2nd Generation) de TelcelEl 23 sep 2022, a la(s) 3:20 p.m., Holly escribió:

but someone said to do a single finger triple tap to see the options to mark as
completed, etc..

Well, I thought I would try that with a text message, and when I did a

I will try this again with the next text I get, but it has worked twice

2022-09-23 Thread Dan

I just found that if I am looking at
book/documents from BookShare in VDR there is a problem.

I started to look at periodicals.  I then
changed the rotor to headings.  I then started doing a single
finger swipe down to move header to header.  I found that VO
doesn't announce the new header as it changes.  If I swipe down
then swipe left and then swipe right it announces the new
header.

I do not know if this is a VO with VDR
issue or something weird with VDR and BookShare data.   I
suspect it is an issue with VO and VDR though.

Anyone else experience this too?

Notification Center problem resolved...

2022-09-23 Thread Holly
Well, I found an answer to the notification bug of not being able to open a
notification with a double tap on the lock screen.

I remembered that with the latest update, when I got a reminder, the ‘more’
option which would show up with a one finger flick up was not showing up in 16,
but someone said to do a single finger triple tap to see the options to mark as
completed, etc..

Well, I thought I would try that with a text message, and when I did a single
finger triple tap on the notification, the messages app opened and put me in
the reply field.

I will try this again with the next text I get, but it has worked twice now.

Re: No speaker while using Amazon app

2022-09-23 Thread Donna Casteen
Hi,

Open the Alexa app, then immediately close the app sending it to the app
switcher.
Open the app switcher & open the Alexa app. You should now have speech as
normal.
Tap on More bottom left corner.
Swiping down from the top, when you get to Settings tap to open.
Swiping down from the top, when you get to Alexa App Settings tap to open.
Swiping down from the top, the first item is Alexa Hands Free, tap to Enable.
This setting is a toggle, tapping again would turn the feature off. You want
Hands Free Enabled.
The next time you open the Alexa app you should have speech.

Re: iOS 16.02 is available with VO fixes

2022-09-23 Thread Gerardo Corripio
For me, none! I have to put myself atop the notification, double-tap over and
over and over I don’t know how many times, until to the left of the
notification, is an “Open “ button, which is how I manage to open them. Even
the “OPen” button doesn’t show up; I seem to have to delete notifications below
or above sometimes, in order for the “Open” button to appear.

Nope, doesn't work for me, using an iPhone 11. I have always had my
notifications set to list & switching the notification view to stack gets me
the same results, not able to open a notification. I am able to open ONLY ONE
notification if I have powered off my phone & immediately go to notification
center after the phone is powered on. Using the tap & hold, then swiping to
Preview & tapping to open a notification does nothing.

What kinds of notifications are you finding won't open?

Perhaps checking the app specific notification settings then.
Like I say, they work fine on my 13 pro.

I will triple check later today. I should have some notifications showing up.
But I'm pretty sure I have been able to double tap and have the correct app
open to deal with the notification.

What kinds of notifications are you finding won't open?

Notification Center

2022-09-23 Thread deidreandlouise
Speaking of notifications, I've never understood how to set notifications for
Apps only under Notifications in Settings and where to go to not get
notifications from what I believe is the Notification Center. I do not need
duplicate notifications and don't need to have to clear messages that are
coming from the Notification Center. I simply hear messages make a tone and
announce who it's from then after I look at it keep it or delete it. Am I
confusing something here? the h.
Similarly how can I stay in the area after I've chosen to see all mail or
unread mail and not have to choose that over and over again. I simply want to
stay in my conversation list and would rather go looking to change it when I
wanted, not have to choose over and over again.
This may be ignorance on my part, or it may be that the headings that
show keep getting longer and longer, and I can't stand it.

Mine is set to show as list as Davy suggested.

RE: I don't know how to charge my airpods pro 2nd gen

2022-09-23 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi Kim.

I don't know what kind of charging cable the airpods come with, but if it's
like what Apple has done with other cables, such as for the apple watch and
iPhone, it now uses a USB C connector to get power. It's a smaller USB
connector, and won't fit into the larger ones. The larger connectors on
computers a few years old are USB A. Apple and other manufacturers have
switched to C. If I'm right, you'll need something to either plug into the wall
to charge them, or Amazon sells a USB A to USB C adaptor.

I learned all this the hard way with my Apple Watch charging cable that I got.
Wish Apple would have let people know this.

Have a blessed day and don't work too hard.

Right now I'm just playing but don't really know how to make the airpods do
anything.

I wish they would fix the keyboard shortcuts on braille displays for
copy, paste, cut, and undo. Yes, I have reported these issues to Apple
when they first started in the beta of 16. Glad the speech users are
getting some love though. Smiles.

Rebooting, Copy/Paste Issue, and More.

Apple has today released iOS 16.0.2to the public. According to the release
notes, it resolves a bug which could cause VoiceOver to become unusable after
rebooting your iPhone.

The full list of fixes mentioned in the release notes are:

* Camera may vibrate and cause blurry photos when shooting with some
third-party apps on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max
* Display may appear completely black during device setup
* Copy and paste between apps may cause a permission prompt to appear
more than expected
* VoiceOver may be unavailable after rebooting
* Addresses an issue where touch input was unresponsive on some iPhone X,
iPhone XR, and iPhone 11 displays after being serviced

At the time of posting, we are not aware of any additional changes for blind
and low vision users in this release. If you do observe any changes during your
own use of iOS 16.0.2, please do let us know your findings in the comments.

Re: I don't know how to charge my airpods pro 2nd gen

2022-09-23 Thread Kimberly Gardner
Okay great. Also, is there somewhere I can get a list of the airpod
controls? Right now I'm just playing but don't really know how to make
the airpods do anything.

Hi Maria; this is why I try to use applications from Apple as much as possible.
Apple does not support third-party apps.

If yours are the same as mine, the cable you use to charge your iPhone should
also fit the iPod case.

Subject: I don't know how to charge my airpods pro 2nd gen

Hi all,

I just got my first airpods. They are the pro 2nd generation. I feel dumb
asking this but how do I charge them? The cable that comes with the airpods (I
don't have a wireless charger) doesn't look like it will fit any of the
charging bricks either. Am I missing something? Do I need to buy yet another
charger?

Any help appreciated.
