The issue I have is with the braille cursor. When I'm using my braille display, I can't move my cursor wherever I want using the routing keys. I literally have to turn on VO and use gestures on the phone to move my cursor. Quite annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? I have the Focus 40 Blue. Thanks. Re: Any improvements for voice over in 13.2.3
Sandy, I've reported the Mail app loss of focus to Apple Accessibility after upgrading to iOS 13.2 and they replied acknowledging the issue and its reporting by numerous users. Apparently, they are still working on it since it's still present in iOS 13.2.3. I think it's a good idea for everyone who experiences this issue to report it to Apple Accessibility because the squeakier the wheel, the more likely it is to get greased. I have no VoiceOver problem now that I updated to 13.2and still with 13.3 no problem. I really like Slience Calling and the fact that it is so easy to go turn it back on, if for some reason I want to, then turn it off again. I just turned off phone in Notifications though, because I check anyway, and those Notirications drive me nuts whenever I press the Power Button to get to my Home Page. Incidentally, what is the Sleep/Wake Button. RE: Any improvements for voice over in 13.2.3
Has she updated to the latest 13.2.3 update? The Voiceover problems after a call were an issue in the earlier iOS 13 releases, but seem to have been fixed entirely with iOS 13.2 and we are now on 13.2.3 with 13.3 already in Beta for some time, wouldn't be surprised if 13.3 came out for the public either before Christmas or in the first part of January. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of brian albriton Sent: Wednesday, November 20, 2019 9:24 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Any improvements for voice over in 13.2.3 With iOS 13, my wife's 6s crashes voiceoVer after an AIRA call. RE: Any improvements for voice over in 13.2.3
There are bugs one can work around and some one can't. I did actually forget about the dictation issue, this actually is a super-annoying issue and there is no work-around except to take a Bluetooth keyboard and type the message, so yes, I guess that is a work-around but only if I am near my Bluetooth keyboard. Of course for people who only speak/use English this is not a problem. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Anthony Vece Sent: Tuesday, November 19, 2019 10:56 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Any improvements for voice over in 13.2.3 Just reload the message Sent from my Verizon iPhone XR!!! > On Nov 19, 2019, at 1:32 PM, Davy Cuppens wrote: > > Anthony > > Like that friend of mine that encounters the fade-in speech bug or the > dictation bug whereas your second dictation line behaves in another installed > language ... how would you wirkaround these bugs? > If one is using the native mail app constantly there is no way to rule the > focus. RE: Any improvements for voice over in 13.2.3
I too was frustrated by having to constantly return my rotor to Headings when on a webpage, so I took the opportunity to assign the two-finger swipe right and left to previous and next headings navigation. That way each time I'm in a position to move by headings I don't have to worry about where the rotor is pointed, I simply flick right or left with two fingers. Thx, Albert *** Albert A. Ok, one minor annoyance is I have to use the rotor to move to headings every time in Safari to move by headings. Prior to 13.2 VO remembered my setting and I could move by heading in safari without first have to use the rotor. Currently I run 13.2.3 and I really like iOS 13. I really like the preset/profile feature to have individual settings per app and they are automatically applied when that app is in the foreground. Apple squashed quite a few bugs in 13.2 and as I said iOS 13 now works fine for me. Re: Any improvements for voice over in 13.2.3
Sieghard I do understand your statement very well but my iphone is a bit of a newsticker for me and there are severe bugs in the notification center at least for me in the 7 days I had used ios13.1.2. Moreover, some notifications become sticky even since ios13.2.2 reported by several of my friends. I will certainly update to ios13.3 on condition that the mail and notification focus bugs are gone. I hear positive rumors of ios13.3 betatesters that the notification bug is solved wait and see. A few mispronunciations to me are small annoyances but not reasons for not upgrading and take advantage of potentially other new features. It could even be the case that you have to upgrade to iOS 13 if you want to use certain apps. One example is the new ScripTalk Mobile app which is available in the US and Canada and which can read prescription medication packages which have been equipped with a special RFID tag by the pharmacy. That app won't work on anything below iOS 13 and of course anybody who bought a new phone this fall gets iOS 13 whether they want it or not. The fact is that almost all of the major bugs like the one with Voiceover going away after a phone call and not being able to use third-party software keyboards have been resolved. There are still a few rotor and focus issues in the Mail app when deleting messages, but those I also classify as relatively minor and they definitely are not deal-breakers. If you have to use a hearing aid I can understand how system sounds not coming through the hearing aid can be more of an issue, but hopefully this will also be soon resolved. I can't comment in detail with respect to braille input and using braille displays since I don't use either. With my hearing aids, I have the problem of the haptics, but not with my little cheapy Bluetooth that messes me up when s scrolling through, say Contacts. That is why I intend to look into a Logitech one. I can navigate without problem with my hearing aids, but the haptics come out of the phone's speaker. I have navigation problems with my $6.80 cheapy Bluetooth, but the haptics come through the headset, not the iPhone speaker. Would be nice if there could be some kind of merger that would solve both problems. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Monday, November 18, 2019 10:52 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Any improvements for voice over in 13.2.3 Do you use Braille or hearing aids? Re: Any improvements for voice over in 13.2.3
No, please stay where you are! The bugs are becoming funnier and funnier. Yesterday I read on facebook, several American english synthesizers can even not pronounce the word gun and speak it as gna or something like this. A friend of mine which is a music producer and extremely advanced ios and mac os user with the use of protools and all that sound stuff, he has the bug since ios13.2. that his voiceover is fading-in each time when he takes his iphone after let say 30 seconds of rest. So stay on ios12 like I do. That is not normal behavior. Have you done a screen share with Apple Accessibility and demonstrated that? That has never happened with any iPhone I have ever handled, and that is quite a few since I teach people how to use it and am often going through the sound settings on their phones. RE: Any improvements for voice over in 13.2.3
Do you use Braille or hearing aids? I am not sure if Braille input got fixed, I don't use it, but as far as I am concerned the main issue otherwise was with hearing aids. Apart from that and a few minor annoyances iOS 13.2.2 (haven't upgraded yet to 13.2.3) works very well. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Joe Orozco Sent: Monday, November 18, 2019 5:49 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Any improvements for voice over in 13.2.3 Are we at a point where iOS 13 is recommended? One of the Most annoying bugs for me is that the sound goes to the iPhone speaker anytime I go to change any setting in sounds and haptics even though i am using the earbuds, worse than that, the phone rings even if I am not anywhere near the sound volume settings.
