RE: Device to transfer stuff to the iPhone
There isn’t one. Unfortunately so far pretty much all the third-party applications like CopyTrans, AnyTrans, iTools are inaccessible. WALTR2 is useable to some degree, but I don’t think it gives you quite the same flexibility to transfer content to and from an iPhone. How to Add Songs and Custom Ringtones to Your iPhone Without Using iTunes or Jailbreaking It For most of us who have an iPhone, while it certainly has countless benefits, it also suffers from a few drawbacks. The most limiting of these downsides is without a doubt the need for the iPhone to sync with iTunes. This is both a blessing and a curse, since while iTunes makes it seamless to sync content with the iPhone, it also locks each iPhone to the user's computer. So what happens when you have an iPhone but don't have your computer nearby and want to load an extra song or custom ringtone to it? Well, until very recently you simply couldn't. But thanks to a great tool that became available not long ago, now everyone can load custom ringtones and songs to their iPhones regardless of which computer they use. Let's take a look at how to do this. Here's what you'll need: .An iPhone or other iOS device .An iPhone USB charging cable .A song or custom ringtone file .iTools, a media-management software available for both Windows and Mac Before beginning, you must first download and install iTools on your Windows PC or Mac. Once it is installed, simply follow the steps below. Important Note: iTools is compatible with Windows 7/Vista/XP and Windows Sever 2003/2008. For the Mac, iTools requires your Mac to be running Mac OS X 10.6 or later. Steps to Add a Song or Custom Ringtone to Your iPhone Without iTunes Step 1: Open iTools. You will see that iTools' main screen shows if your Windows PC or Mac is connected to your iPhone or not. Step 2: Connect your iPhone to your Windows PC or Mac. The main screen of iTools will now change to show your iPhone's information, along with the types of media supported by iTools on the left column of the window. Step 3: Click on Music at the left of the iTools window. The screen will change to display the songs stored in your iPhone. But what interests us is the new panel at the right of the screen, which displays the different types of audio files that your iPhone supports. Make sure to highlight the Music option under Media Types at the right of the window. Step 4: To transfer a song to your iPhone, click the Import button at the top of the window, find your song file, click on it and click the Import button of the dialog box. After a short while the song will be uploaded to your iPhone. If iTools doesn't show the correct song information don't worry, the song is uploaded and will play perfectly on your iPhone. Adding a Custom Ringtone Step 5: To transfer a custom ringtone to your iPhone, the process is very similar. Highlight the Ringtones option under Media Types at the right of the window, Then click the Import button at the top of the window, find your custom ringtone file, click on it and click on Import. Shortly after this your ringtone will be uploaded to your iPhone and ready to use. Tip: Instead of clicking on the Import button, you can just drag and drop your song or ringtone to the iTools music or ringtones windows respectively. Final Thoughts So there you have it. While Apple strangely keeps locking even simple options like these with iTunes, iTools will allow you to do this and more, no matter which computer you use. Re: Device to transfer stuff to the iPhone
Maybe this will help, but like I said, I can't guarantee the accessibility of iTools. This is both a blessing and a curse, since while iTunes makes it seamless to sync content with the iPhone, it also locks each iPhone to the user’s computer. So what happens when you have an iPhone but don’t have your computer nearby and want to load an extra song or custom ringtone to it? Well, until very recently you simply couldn’t. But thanks to a great tool that became available not long ago, now everyone can load custom ringtones and songs to their iPhones regardless of which computer they use. Let’s take a look at how to do this. Here’s what you’ll need: •An iPhone or other iOS device •An iPhone USB charging cable •A song or custom ringtone file •iTools, a media-management software available for both Windows and Mac Before beginning, you must first download and install iTools on your Windows PC or Mac. You will see that iTools’ main screen shows if your Windows PC or Mac is connected to your iPhone or not. Step 2: Connect your iPhone to your Windows PC or Mac. The main screen of iTools will now change to show your iPhone’s information, along with the types of media supported by iTools on the left column of the window. If iTools doesn’t show the correct song information don’t worry, the song is uploaded and will play perfectly on your iPhone. Its called Waltr 2. I use it all the time. It does it in less than a minute or two.. I will say the program Waltr 2 does neeed components in I Tunes to work, without actually using I Tunes itself. You might need sighted asisstance to configure the transfer of ringtones and other media over the air wirelessly to your I Phone. So you may only need to hook your phone to the computer once to accomplish this. There is also WALTR2 which is software that allows you to transfer ringtones to the iPhone, but it's no easier than iTunes as far as I am concerned. I know at times iTunes had accessibility issues but currently it does not when it comes to transferring ringtones and I really don't get why people have this almost mythical fear of it. -Original Message- From: 'Carol Pearson' via VIPhone [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] Sent: Friday, September 01, 2017 2:23 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com; Michael Amaro Subject: Re: Device to transfer stuff to the iPhone Hi there, I think the app you're talking about is iMazing. Re: Device to transfer stuff to the iPhone
Hi there, I think the app you're talking about is iMazing. (Note, there's no letter I in the word. It's just a small letter i followed immediately by Mazing, with a capital M. I had intended to to try it myself some months back but, because my husband was so ill and needed 24/7 attention for some time, I decided not to do so at that point. However, I have now downloaded it and am all set to go when I find the time for playing which isn't quite yet as I still have heaps of paperwork and unread messages to get through. There was someone on the list who didn't use it often but had it and used it occasionally. I can't remember the person's name, I'm afraid, but maybe you'll get more answers. If you don't, give me an email (in case I should lose yours or something) and I'll try to help as I do now intend to take a serious look at it. I've kept this on list, just in case anyone else is interested in following this thread but can take it off if there appears to be no further interest. By the way, it's my understanding that the app is free for individual users and I have received a code to insert so can be ready to go very soon. I do hope this helps a bit. Try the app "File Explorer" ... it is available as a free and a paid version, and it is supposed to allow you to use it to get files into apps such as Voice Dream Reader from any source (your network or plugged into your phone like iStick). I have played with it to get files off of my network drive attached to my router, and from my NAS, and it seemed to work just fine. It will either move files for you or let you open apps which use them, or even has its own suite of apps for music playing, showing photos and videos, etc., so that you can just click on a file and have something immediately handle it. Yes, there is a lightning and a USB end. The one we have has a slot for a micro SD card and you can get them with a regular SD card slot. I saw that now they have them that are more like thumb drives with their own internal memory. Kay Malmquist kay.malmqu...@gmail.com - Original Message - From: "Michael D. Hi all, if you use an app like Voice Dream Reader, you can import files to it from dropbox, and it works excellently for music as well as audio books. Just zip up the folder you want to import, ands add from dropbox with Voice Dream Reader. There is also an excellent app called File Browser that allows you to connect to any drive on your home network, and you can share the files from there, as well as play them. I don't think you can put them in your Apple Music library, but you can share them with your I-Cloud drive. I have never done this, I can't say if they become available or not! Re: Device to transfer stuff to the iPhone
iTools will do it too, but I can't vouge for it's accessibility. I had a sighted friend help me with the trial version as I didn't want to just jump into it not knowing how it worked, but I plan to buy the paid version very soon. With the trial version, I was able to put 20 ringtones on my phone. I don't add music to my phone as there are so many radio station apps available, it just takes up room that I don't have on my 16 gig phone, but iTools does give the option of adding music. -Original Message- From: Chris Chaffin Sent: Friday, September 01, 2017 8:58 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Device to transfer stuff to the iPhone I personally use Dropbox to transfer files to my phone, and even transfer some files from my phone to my computer. The only way I know that you can do this is by using iTunes. I love Dropbox, it is very easy to use and is very accessible, allows you to access your files from anywhere, and it has a free version.
