RE: Mail app

2023-09-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Sorting is for sorting mail in various ways, it is not for setting up
rules/filters which treat certain emails in a certain way, e.g. to move all
emails from the Viphone list to a mailbox you set up for this.

And at least iOS 17, when Ken adjust Mail rules in the iOS mail settings,
application for iCloud account. I don’t think this is available for Google or
Microsoft accounts.

iCloud Mail Rules, Apple ID → iCloud → iCloud Mail → iCloud Mail Rules

Hello. Unfortunately, there is not a way to create a rule as you

does what and when they want.

I would suggest deleting the account on your phone and re-creating it. That

One that says collapsed?

If so, double tap so it is expanded, and the subfolders will show up.

Re: Mail App and a Notes Folder

2020-05-05 Thread Richard Turner
one thing to check, have you noticed if in the mail app, your account is listed
twice?
One that says collapsed?
If so, double tap so it is expanded, and the subfolders will show up.
At least, that is how I get my outlook folders to show up.

Re: Mail App not Always Vibrating and Dinging with New Mail

2018-10-06 Thread Craig Werner
Hello, everyone.

After extensive conversations with an Apple representative who,
through a couple encounters, has shown me she knows what she is doing,
I have to some extent lessened the severity of my problem. The
account in question, a Verizon/Aol one that I had configured as a POP3
account (obviously not the one I use for this group), is now an IMAP
one. I have long thought of changing from POP3 to IMAP, and although
I have a good reason for using POP, I know very well the advantages of
an IMAP configuration. To make a long story short, we are working on
the theory that even though AOL supports POP3 and IMAP, the IMAP
configuration works better. With IMAP, the "new email" ding sounds
much more often than it did with the POP setup.

This problem didn't rear its head until I updated to iOS 12, so we may
well be talking about the possibility that iOS 12 is pickier about the
way its mail app interacts with AOL Mail than was iOS 11.x. I realize
that this scenario is highly conjectural and even possibly suspect,
but I am moving on since this problem is hardly a show-stopper. I
appreciate everyone's contributions to this thread. BTW, for those
unfamiliar with the workings of Verizon email, AOL now manages Verizon
email accounts. This makes for an unsettling experience for some
users.

2018-10-04 Thread Craig Werner
Thanks very much, Mark, for your upbeat message. Unfortunately, "Quick" is
one of the vibration settings I have selected during testing, and still,
the new mail notification is oddly intermittent. It fails more than it
succeeds. I appreciate everyone's helpfulness, and I am confident a
solution will be found before I am driven over the brink.

2018-10-04 Thread M. Taylor
Believe it or not, I noticed the same behavior after updating to iOS 12 and it
drove me crazy until I discovered the solution, (smile).

While this was done, automatically in iOS 11, in iOS 12, from the Settings
menu, select sounds and haptics. Next, Make certain that Vibrate on Silent is
set to on. Next, select the New Mail item by single-finger Double-tapping.
Now, at the very top of the display, select the Vibration pattern. The default
is set to off. This is why there is no vibration. Simply set it to Quick, and
all will be as it was in iOS 11. (smile).

Enjoy,

Mark

Hello, everyone.

I just updated my iPhone SE to iOS 12, and I notice that often, when I
open the Mail app, the phone does not vibrate or make a sound when new
mail is downloaded. When I go to "Settings -> Sounds," "Vibrate" is
set to "Alert," and the "new mail" sound is set to "Classic Ding."
Has anyone noticed this behavior? Whether I receive vibration and
auditory notice of new mail appears to be quite intermittent. Today,
the alert fails more often than it succeeds.

Thanks for all help.

Yes me too I encountered the lack of vibration upon updating to iOS12. I fixed
it and all is vibrating as it should, by going into Settings/Souns, and
changing the vibration pattern from Standard, to I think it was alert? Hope
this helps some.Hopet

Re: Mail App not Always Vibrating and Dinging with New Mail

2018-10-03 Thread Tom Lange
Hi,
I, too noticed that my new mail sound had changed to “none” so I reset it to
the sound that I wanted, which was under the classic sounds. It now works fine
but I don’t get a vibration, which is no big deal, but I may fiddle around a
bit more to investigate why.

Re: Mail App Alternatives

2013-01-11 Thread Grant Hardy
One very popular app in the mainstream iOS community is Sparrow. I've
never tried it though so have no idea whether or not it is accessible.

The built-in mail app can play very nicely with your Gmail account,
though. What you can do is set up filters and labels on the Gmail
website, i.e. I have a filter which sends messages sent to this list
to a label called ViPhone and has them skip the inbox. When I'm
reading mail in the built-in mail app, it respects the filters I've
set up because the labels show up as folders to the iPhone, which uses
IMAP to get the mail.

A lot of people don't set up their Gmail accounts using the default
IMAP route and instead opt to set them up as Exchange accounts. That
gives you push notifications, but it takes away a fair amount of
functionality and makes it harder to sort, search, and read other
folders besides the inbox (at least in my opinion). An example is that
you have to choose every folder that you want pushed, and you might
not want push alerts for all your labels! What I'd recommend doing is
setting up your Gmail account as an IMAP account then using another
app such as Ultimate Notifier, Push, or even the native Gmail app, to
provide push if you want it.

Subject: Mail App

I have a question, in Ios 5 when you would read email there was a refresh
button on the bottom left before the status where it shows how many messages
are downloading. In IOS 6 that button isn't there anymore, now how do you
refresh the inbox without getting out of the mail app? Any help is
appreciated.
