When I set up face ID on my iPhone 13 pro max, it was quite easy.
Voice over was great at telling me if the phone was to close to my face or not

hi Carla,
You may need to go into the Face ID and passcode settings and turn off the
require a tension feature. This feature, when turned off, does not require your
eyesight to be directed at the phone. Most people, I believe, with visual
difficulties turn this off., I hope this helps.
Best, Keith

I am totally blind and have set up facial ID on an 11 and a 14 Pro. I had no
problems. Just extend your arm about a foot from your face. Hold your phone to
the level of it being centered with your face. You will be instructed turn face
to right, left, up down, I can't remember, but just keep doing what it says to
do, and it will get your face in there. Turn off Attention Mode if it is on,
which is located in the Voiceover settings.

RE: Passcode & Face ID Question

2023-03-03 Thread Carolyn
I am totally blind and have set up facial ID on an 11 and a 14 Pro. I had no
problems. Just extend your arm about a foot from your face. Hold your phone to
the level of it being centered with your face. You will be instructed turn face
to right, left, up down, I can't remember, but just keep doing what it says to
do, and it will get your face in there. Turn off Attention Mode if it is on,
which is located in the Voiceover settings.

I just got my iPhone 14 yesterday. I went to this phone from the SE3. I can
do all of the gestures such as finding the app switcher and closing apps, etc.
The only thing I cannot do is have the phone accept my facial ID which I had
someone help me set up. Does anyone have any suggestions to make this work
because I do not want to go back to the SE3. I’m even learning to use the
power button rather than using a home button. I love the speakers and the
stereo sound when playing music. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, with
attention aware, you have to make eye contact with the screen v. just look in
the direction. Apple should probably rephrase this feature to mean eye contact
v. attention since they are different things.

hi Carla,

You may need to go into the Face ID and passcode settings and turn off the
require a tension feature. This feature, when turned off, does not require your
eyesight to be directed at the phone. Most people, I believe, with visual
difficulties turn this off., I hope this helps.

can do all of the gestures such as finding the app switcher and closing
apps, etc. The only thing I cannot do is have the phone accept my facial ID
which I had someone help me set up. Does anyone have any suggestions to
make this work because I do not want to go back to the SE3. I'm even
learning to use the power button rather than using a home button. I love
the speakers and the stereo sound when playing music. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Carla

RE: face id question

2023-01-10 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Paula,

The short answer to your question is, “No.” As long as she does not have the
attention aware feature switched on, Face ID does not look for the presence of
eyes and/or eye position, so to speak.

If she is having difficulty, it is probably because she is not positioning her
entire face within the camera’s field of view.

Mark

I found a way to get Face ID to work and almost be proof.
When I set up Face ID I sat in direct sunlight and set up Face ID.
Face ID works so well for me that I could even leave my sunglasses on inside in
my living room without sunlight and the phone recognizes my face. Take care

Hi Maria,
Thank you so much for this, but Apple Accessibility and I , tried this exact
same steps you are referring to, but that is the main problem the turn on
feature just won't let me turn it on no matter what I do.
Again thank you, as I greatly appreciate it.

iTunes-App Store and Face Id question Please.

2019-06-09 Thread janet gross
HI All,
I spent over an hour with Apple Accessibility trying to turn on Face ID for the
iTunes-app store, as I always had it enabled, but when I go to the app store,
face id doesn't request for face id. Apple and I tried several times to enable
this face id by entering and entering turning on face id in the face id options
under settings. I've signed out of iTunes-app store, signing back in,
restarting the phone. Apple is thinking this must be some kind of glitch, but
not for sure yet. Does anyone have ideas how to turn on the face id for
iTunes-app store? I also have face id set up so when I open my email, but face
id once again is not asking for face id, it just opens!
Thank you all.
Janet.

Peace Be With You.

Hello Hank, yes you can get past this without a problem. When you get a
phone that uses facial ID and if you are a voiceover user, the attention
part of facial ID is automatically turned off. When this happens, all you
have to do is have your camera towards your face and it will unlock your
phone. Hope this helps

Michael maslo

We was wondering if you have ever tried facial I'd previously to make these

Hi mary,

You are so worried about Face Id yet you want to buy one of the new phones?
I am not worried about it at all and actually think for me it would be better
since often when I do lots of woodworking I can't use Touch Id for days because
my fingers have little cuts, I get glue on them etc.
I have a 6S Plus and had the battery replaced by Apple a little over 3 months
ago and while I'd love to have a waterproof phone, I see little other incentive
to upgrade.
I guess if I were on a plan where I paid lots of money to have the option to
upgrade every year I'd of course do it, but at this point I like my $49 plan
(canadian Dollars) with unlimited calling, texting and 6Gb of data so that
means for me that I'd have to buy a phone at full price and that's just not
happening. I am, however, much more tempted by the Apple Watch 4, my wife and I
both have second generation Apple Watches and I do find it frustrating how slow
they sometimes are.

Sieghard

folks. Imagine you’re in a big city. Can’t you imagine the notion that somebody
could take your phone and unlock it and go away and you never even knew it was
gone until it was too late? Haven’t you heard of folks having their pockets
picked? Again I say, it is a security issue. Not for too many people, because
it wouldn’t affect the sighted. And apparently it doesn’t affect all blind
people, although I do know folks who say that even for them, when they can’t
use the attention feature, went home, they have a turned off, because it is a
hassle.

RE: face id question

2018-09-13 Thread janet gross
Hi Mary and all,
Well, I have to admit, if I'm walking down the street or sitting in a
restaurant and I want to unlock my phone for whatever reason, I would feel like
a real idiot pulling my phone out of my purse, and just holding it up to my
face, so now, I've unlocked my phone so someone can just walk right pass, and
grab the phone, but who knows, they just might say thank you!

Hi Sieghard,
Yes, I am upset about the security ramifications of face ID. In my own personal
use case, living where I do and with my current mobility limitations, thank you
chemotherapy, it’s not a huge deal for me. But I can’t see it being a big deal
for others. So it’s not all about me.

RE: face id question

2018-09-13 Thread Sieghard Weitzel

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: face id question

2018-09-12 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Mary,

If somebody really wants your iPhone and they want it unlocked what would stop
them from just grabbing you, take the iPhone and put your finger on the Touch
Id.
Also, even if somebody did as you describe, they run away with your phone
unlocked after snatching it and pointing it at your face they still could not
remove the requirement for a passcode or Face Id since if you try to get into
that section in Settings you have to enter your PIN.
Also, if you are somewhat quick you could easily put your hand in front of your
face if you noticed somebody snatched your phone and I doubt Face Id would work
if most of your face was covered by your hand.
I don't yet have a phone with Face Id and won't have one for at least another
year since I currently don't see the need to upgrade and my wife and I have
other plans which require spending money, but I think once you get used to it
it will be perfectly fine and in many cases better since Touch Id is not
perfect, either.

Regards,
Sieghard

Re: face id question

2018-09-12 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Hank,
When you get an iPhone it doesn’t have touch ID, and you are a voiceover user,
as you set up the phone with voiceover in abled, the phone knows that you’re
using voiceover, so it disables the attention feature. That’s the one that
makes you look at the iPhone with your eyes open and looking at the camera.
With that disabled, all you have to do is point your face towards the phone
once you have the Face ID thing done, and it will open. That’s why it is a
security risk. Somebody swiped your iPhone out of your hand, pointed at your
face, and they have an open iPhone that they can run away with or whatever. But
if you’re OK with that risk, or if you just basically use your phone at home,
then no problem. So there is a way around it. It’s just not very secure.

Hello Hank, yes you can get past this without a problem. When you get a phone
that uses facial ID and if you are a voiceover user, the attention part of
facial ID is automatically turned off. When this happens, all you have to do is
have your camera towards your face and it will unlock your phone. Hope this
helps
