How do I purchase a subscription to the seeing eye app?
My credit card had expired, so I updated it. Now when I try to purchase a subscription to the Seeing Eye GPS app on my iPhone, I get a message that the zip code i entered doesn't match the one on its records. I get a charge pending, but no subscription. If I presss the continue button to update again, I get another pending subscription. It is now 4 in the morning and my battery is sitting at 76%. So I'm pretty sure now that it is wifi that is killing my battery all of a sudden. Does anyone have any ideas on how or why this might be? keep in mind that this is probably the same issue on the phone I had until recent. Two different phones, two different carriers.at a lost now. Looking for accessible calorie counter
From my friend: Okay, I went to the app store to look for an app that would help me count or figure out carbs for the foods that I eat. I found a few. Here’s the thing…I downloaded a couple of the free ones and neither of them were VO accessible. I’m so hesitant to pay money for an app, just to find out that it too is not accessible to me. My iPhone won't answer
As of some time yesterday afternoon, my phone calls are going immediately to voice mail without ringing the phone. It isn't muted; do not disturb is not turned on; airplane mode is off; I am connected to ATT and to wireless here. I used Blind Square and Ariadne on the bus today, and no other apps. Often the user is told to turn off the on-screen keyboard while performing tasks like adding to contacts, then to go to a new field and double tap to edit text. I am curious as to why I would want to turn off the keyboard, only to (I suppose) reactivate it immediately by double tapping on the next text field. I would have liked more description of the screen from a blind person's point of view--an explanation on the music screen that there are two active parts of the screen, not just one, and you can inadvertently shoot yourself in the foot by crossing to another section. And is there a way to get back to the album when the tabs at the bottom of the screen say 'album', but only songs are listed. My iPad student wants to look at soapnet.com, the stuff about General Hospital. I have flicked and twisted and tapped and cussed a lot, but haven't found out how to get to anything of significance. I would like to read the daily recaps, for example. But when I double-tap on them, nothing changes on the screen. is this where containers come in? Using Siri to dial a number with an extension
How can I tell Siri that I want to dial a phone number plus an extension? I have tried saying the number, then 'comma', then the extension, but that doesn't do it. that works. But it seems like Siri should be able to do it. My student doesn't have enough dexterity to enter something manually in a timely manner, so another solution would be better. ATT has an app for that. It's called VM something or other. It notifies you when a voice mail is left, and you can listen and save and delete at will. When I ask Siri who is the Mayor of Aurora, Illinois, she gives me a bunch of links to choose from instead of just telling me. is this supposed to be an upgrade? Of course you will then again see that you have an update and until the accessibility issue is resolved you have to make sure you don't use Update All but instead update each app individually. You could also just update on the phone and, if the app has issues, delete it from the phone and sync with your computer which if you haven't updated the apps yet should have the previous version. But I find making a copy is even saver. NOAA radio: How do I get rid of out-dated alerts?
On NOAA radio, I now have 22 weather alerts, all of which are expired. I don't know how to get to them; and if I could get to them, I don't know how to delete them. I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but that's a little extreme. Can someone please tell me the right way to do it? When I open the app today, it says '22 alerts'. before we had bad weather yesterday it said '15 alerts'. How do I get to a screen with the alerts on it so I can try to get rid of them?? What blew me away was Tap Tap See identifying the pictures on the camera roll on my phone. it told me the date of the picture, and then what each one is. One was a white cat on a beige carpet. I don't like the way the iPad divides things into two or more areas and expects me to figure it out. The compactness of the iPhone/iPod screen makes orientation soo much easier. But the iPad sure sounds nice!!! Let me try this again, replying to the actual message. Under settings, general, accessibility, voiceover, immediately after 'typing echo', which isn't typing echo but that's what it means. If I'm reading with a braille display, I need to double-tap to be sure the correct location is saved, and I need to back out of the file before removing the app from the App switcher, but if I do those things, it works consistently. Moreover, when I open the app, the line I was reading appears on the display, rather than my needing to tap somewhere to get focus to the right place. This isn't a big deal, but it's a nice change from other apps. Finally, it's a way to read braille files without a lot of processing, and the files appear using the formatting with which they were written. Since most braille files have a lot of extra dot 7s in them, I would still want to change the case of the whole file to lower case first to get rid of them. But if the files don't have them or if you don't care about eliminating them, all you have to do is add a txt extension, and they appear in beautifully formatted braille. Is $20 a lot to spend for a notetaking app? Absolutely. But since this does so many things that no other app I've used does, I'm glad I bought it. The other notetaking apps I've used are Pages, which has the problems I mentioned, Notes, which is great for short things but would be a pain for longer ones because it has no search ability, and very briefly Elements, which has no search facility, Notesy, which wouldn't open the text files I wanted to work with because I guess they were too long, and Write 2, which wouldn't speak any of my search results. There certainly might be apps I've missed that have AccessNote's features, but I've tried quite a few and haven't found those features anywhere else. I hope that helps. It helps to wait a bit to make sure focus is on the first app (in the bottom left corner) before deleting, or else trying to touch that bottom left corner app. Once your focus is solidly there, you can delete as fast you like via gestures. iBooks and page chooser
I read an iBook on my iPhone, and pages advanced automatically. On the iPad I am trying to read a book, and after reading a page, I get stuck on the page chooser. In audio settings I have pages set to change automatically, but that doesn't affect the reading in VoiceOver. Where is the auto advance setting for iBooks? Trying to run AP news on my iPhone on the bus, I got the message 'Please connect to the internet'. I have LTE turned on, cellular turned on, the status line says ATT is at 5 out of 5 bars, but I wasn't connected to a network because the bus was moving. Thankfully! Ariadne could tell me the direction we were going, our speed, elevation, and that the location accuracy was within 16 meters. But 'map server is unavailable'. I went through dozens of settings--it was a rather long ride--but everything seems to be turned on. iPhone not connecting to the Internet--solved
I mentioned this some days ago, and nobody suggested a fix. So today I stopped at the ATT store. My phone connects to WIFI just fine. But when I go out and about, it reports 'no service', and when I try to access Ariadne, Weather, or any other service requiring internet, it tells me I'm not connected to the internet. the ATT man said it's an ATT iPhone 5 bug, which will be corrected in a future software release. The current solution is, while you are away from wifi, reboot the phone. It will then be forced to search for LTE and--voilla!--it will be there. I bought it when it first came out, bought a stand for the phone which was supposed to help line things up, but didn't try very hard and had proportional nonsuccess. Have you tried split tap? Holding your finger on the letter/object you want to double tap, touch the screen with a second finger. Syncing contacts
I have been able to sync most, not all, of my apps from iTunes to my new iPad. All the music seems to have sunc. But not contacts. ITunes says contacts sync from the cloud, but I haven't sunc with iCloud, ever, so is there something I can do? Nope. I know nothing. Please patiently treat me like a novice here. Siri opening apps
I can tell Siri to open most apps without a problem. Open notes works fine. open settings, general, voiceover does what I want. Can Siri take me back to the home page, or open the app switcher? Can't find access note in the apps store on the iPad
On my iPhone 5 if I go to the apps store and search for Access Note, it's there. On the iPad it isn't. I think that if I searched under iPhone I could find Access Note on the iPad, but I can't make it ask whether I want to search iPhone or iPad, so can't choose the phone. In the apps store, on the iPad, I don't find a tab on the bottom of the screen that says 'search', like there is on the iPhone. There is a search window, though. Perhaps apps like Money Reader and Digitize are a bit more complex than most, and therefore it is more tricky to make them work. Looktel has been trying hard to fix Money Reader. With hundreds of users and hundreds of apps interacting, it isn't easy to figure out what is the problem. Money Reader hasn't worked for me since iOS 8.0.1 ... until yesterday's update. Without testing on dozens of devices each with multiple configurations, a developer can't find every single fault. that's why it is so important for them to know what isn't working and what device and operating system is being used. If a person could drop them a note with that information, it could make the fix happen more quickly than if they don't know what isn't working. they are good people, though--and remember, they are people. Transferring files to the iPad
My client has a CD of instructional files she would like to listen to on her iPad. I have a windows machine and a Mac. How can I make these files availabel to her? I haven't seen them yet. I know I can convert them to .mp3 on the Windows machine, but how then to get them to the iPad? Would the Mac be a better agent for transfer? Thanks for the help. When you import a series of CD's resulting in track 01 (1) track 01 (2) etc., how do you rename them.
