Re: SBS On Demand

2015-11-12 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi John,

I’ve not had any trouble mirroring my iPad to Apple TV in iOS9.1

Did you scroll down under the Airplay Menu in the Control Center to find
Mirroring?
You need to scroll down it is under Apple TV (same window).
Scroll Down and you'll see the Mirror icon. - It's just "hidden" because the
window is so small.
Just run your finger down and you'll see the toggle.

After you swipe up to display your AppleTV - swipe up AGAIN on that little box
to display the switch, allowing you to turn on mirroring.

I’ll send you a couple of screenshots “Offlist” showing what I mean.

Cheers,
Ronni

John,

I did the same as Alan and Ronni. Works as they describe. It s a nice feature
I'd not known about before, so your pain has helped me learn something new. I
hope you get it sorted.

I've not used the 'swipe up from the bottom of the screen' very much in the
past, and my habit has been to use Settings to find how to change stuff, but it
seems Apple are putting more things, useful things, into this tool.

Cheers

Multitasking has improved immensely in iOS9 - added multi-app multitasking to
the iPad.

Control Center
Swipe up from the bottom bezel to get Control Center

Notification Center
Swipe down from the top bezel to get Notification Center

Slide Over - lets you quickly access a second app so you can respond to
messages or mail, add to notes, see photos, or do some other, brief task while
still keeping the original, primary app visible and available.
Think of it as a side bar that lets you briefly access a second app.

Split View
Split View doesn't confine the second app to side bar or a brief interaction,
and doesn't lock out the first app. It will let two apps run at the same time,
persistently, and will give you full access to both of them for the duration.
(Split View only for iPad Air 2 because the iPad Air 2 has 2 GB of RAM and a
massively powerful Apple A8X processor. Running two apps at once takes more
than twice the memory and twice the power, and currently only the iPad Air 2
has those resources to spare.)

How do I activate Slide Over?
Just like you swipe down from the top bezel to get Notification Center and up
from the bottom bezel to get Control Center, you swipe left from the right
bezel to get Slide Over.

To dismiss it, you swipe from the left edge back towards the right bezel.

Both Slide Over and Split View allow you to have two apps on-screen at the same
time—a "primary" app and a "secondary" app. The primary app is the one you
start with, full screen.
The secondary app is the one you bring in that either overlays a part of the
screen in Slide Over or takes over part of the screen in Split View.

polite). I keep her busy keeping me organised through my busy day and week

“SIRI also is the technology that powers Search on your iPhone and iPad. And
now you can get even more answers when you type in the Search field”

I’ve only listed above a few enhancements that I use constantly on my iPad.

Hi John

With no idea of why it might solve your problem, I suggest a complete reset of
(one of) your iPads.

I am about to do a complete system reset for my iMac: NBN device, modem, Time
Capsule and iMac. I’ve been getting some very strange operations in El Capitan
recently (triggered by the latest iWork update?). Simple shut down of the iMac
clears the problems for a while, then they re-appear. Really waiting for OSX
10.11.2. Then, of course, a call to WAMUG!

Cheers

Hi Alan

I understand how to do it but my mirror switch is missing in 9.1.

With 8.3 there is no problem. I am updating the Apple TV software at the moment
although I think the problem is with 9.1.

Hi John

My iPad 2 with iOS 9.1 mirrors to AppleTV 2 (ver 6.2.1) with no problem. I
swiped up, selected Apple TV, then turned on Mirroring (to display green
button). I didn’t try an SBS on-demand video tho.

Re: SBS On Demand

2015-11-12 Thread John Daniels
Hi Ronni

That's all done but no mirroring is shown. It's iOS 9.1 that is the problem.
Has any Wamug member been able to mirror the iPad running 9.1 with Apple TV?

I have been right through the Apple TV settings but I can't see any reason for
the malfunction. I can get videos from iTunes OK.

Cheers

Re: SBS On Demand

2015-11-10 Thread Susan Hastings
Hi Severin, what we find is that my husband's iPad cannot cope with adverts in
SBS, even just playing them on his iPad. He has a first generation iPad mini.

However, my iPad, which is a second generation iPad Air, can do it. SBS on
demand uses quite good quality streaming, and the adverts seem to be a
different type of media. Very clunky.

In other words, having a more powerful iPad seems to be what makes the
difference.

Re: SBS On Demand

Hi Susan

I have a new iPad with iOS 9.1 and I cannot mirror it with my Apple TV.

With my old iPad with iOS 8 after selecting Apple TV a box labeled "mirroring"
shows.

With iOS 9 it does not show.

I tried to get some clues from Apple Support without success.

Have you any idea what I can do?

Thank you Ronni

This works OK with my old iPad and iOS 8 but with my shiny new iPad with ios9
or with Susan's old pad with ios9 there is no green button and the Apple TV
icon shows connection to speaker only not TV.

Apple Support has a few of this problem listed but I have yet to find a
solution.

Hi John,

Go to your AppleTV > Settings and make sure you have AirPlay turned ON.
I don't think you have AirPlay activated on AppleTV if you are not seeing the
Mirroring button on the iPads

And also that the iPads & AppleTV are on the same Network.

RE: AppleTV Gurus? (SBS On Demand and iView)

2012-04-04 Thread Alan Smith
Hi Adam

Another possibility. With ATV2 should be able to play iView on an iPad (or
iPhone) and then stream to ATV via AirPlay mirroring. May not be possible
with ATV1.

Cheers

Hi Adam

I understand that without a Smart TV, repeat TV programs will need to be
downloaded and played through iTunes. I used to used Firefox add-ons
iViewFox and Plus7Fox for this. I am not aware of an SBS utility. I now use
Elgato eyeTV to record the programs to my Mac directly off-air (much better!).
I have an ATV2.

Cheers
Alan

Hi there

Just wondering if there are any AppleTV ATVFlash gurus out there who have got

Thanks
