Yeppers I know all about Green River. Most all my relations live there. Green River is also home to an intergalactic spaceport I kid you not. The mayor of Green River sent this in as a airport listing to FAA as a joke, and it still exists to this day, complete with dirt runway, rocks beer bottles, cans and what not. No planes can possibly land here. I am a legal student, and looked up the Green River ordinance just to check it out. Here it is: 'Ordinance No. 175. 'Be It Ordained by the Town Council of the Town of Green River, Wyoming: 'Section 1. The practice of going in and upon private residences in the Town of Green River, Wyoming, by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants and transient vendors of merchandise, not having been requested or invited so to do by the owner or owner occupant or occupants of said private residences for the purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods, wares and merchandise, and/or for the purpose of disposing of and/or peddling or hawking the same, is hereby declared to be a nuisance, and punishable as such nuisance as a misdemeanor. 'Section 2. The Town Marshal and Police Force of the Town of Green River are heareby required and directed to suppress the same, and to abate any such nuisance as is described in the first section of this ordinance. 'Section 3. Any person convicted of perpetrating a nuisance as described and prohibited in the first section of this ordinance, upon conviction thereof shall be fined in a sum not less than Twenty-five ($25.00) Dollars or more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00), together with costs of proceedings, which said fine may be satisfied, if not paid in cash, by execution against the person of anyone convicted of committing the misdemeanor herein prohibited. 'Section 4. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. 'Section 5. It being deemed by the Town Council of the Town of Green River that an emergency exists, this ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage and approval. TAGS fans, Just thought I'd let you know about a little glimpse of Mayberry in an unexpected place. I draw an on-line comic book called Burt the I.L.S. and the characters recently landed in Haskell, TX. If you look at the background shots of Haskell, you'll notice that the bank bears a striking resemblance to a courthouse we all know. TAGS Marathon
Hello everyone in Mayberry, A local channel in Nashville two weeks ago had a TAGS Marathon on Saturday and Sunday. Two people at Church on Sunday asked if I watched any of the marathon on Saturday. I told them I had and that I planned on watching more Sunday afternoon. Being a semi-trained noticer of TAGS, I noticed in Andy the Matchmaker, that Barney had his bullet in the right front pocket. I know the other times Barney pulls out his bullet from the left shirt pocket. Did Don Knotts have a missing tooth on the upper left side? It looks like a gap in the teeth during the first year of TAGS. I liked seeing Mr. Schwamp, in the Fun Girls, he was a social butterfly taking that bottle of pop to the dark haired lady. (Native Nashvillians call a bottle of pop a 'Coke' no matter what kind of soft-drink you have.) I have also been watching 'Beach Party' movies, with Frankie and Annette. In one of the movies Eric VonZipper is on a go-cart going thru our own town of Mayberry. It looked strange seeing the beach kids and VonZipper on the streets of Mayberry. Just waiting for Barney to come around the corner and give the kids a ticket. All of us Hoosiers were proud to have him sing Back Home Again in Indiana The great thrill was seeing him so healthy since he missed last year.
