Re: Very Bittersweet Visit Home (Ken Anderson)
Ken that one made me cry. Even at the young age of 44 I see the same thing in my home town. The 2 Drug stores with the old soda fountains that I visited every Saturday, the Five Dime, Hardware Sporting goods store along with all the others are all gone. The buildings are empty or have something in them that nobody cares about. The movie theater is still there and doing good and there are a couple of places to eat and a couple of bars. When I take my kids (12 7 years old) to the movie there we sometimes will walk through the town and they will ask me what used to be in that building. I enjoy the little trip down memory lane but it also make me very sad and I tell them take a good look at what's left because when you are my age it will all be gone too. I have only had a few of my class mates and teachers pass but many of my friends that I knew so well and were so important to me were a lot older than me and they are gone now, some for a long time. You are right it's great to know we can always visit Mayberry where things never change and our old friends are always there to make us smile. RK the actor is not listed appearing in any TAGS episode per IMDB so maybe he was one of the gang who didn't have a speaking part. Sorry for the mistake Harriet, that's what happens when I go by memory when I should have rechecked. I was pretty sure Ray was in Barney's 1st car but its Barney's Side Car that he's in. He's Barney's first checkpoint chickee victim trying to get over turners grade, trucker Edgar J. Masters. As an autograph collector I've watched ebay for many years for the character actor names that have appeared on TAGS. I've almost memorized the episode guide Alan has on the TAGSRWC website. If you put a list together of all the actors/actresses that appeared on the show and mixed them up with 1000 other actors/actresses names I could scan through the list and pick them all out with probably 98% accuracy and tell you which episode and character a lot of them are associated with. Now isn't that a useless talent? The IMDB is not that complete when it comes to a lot of the character actors that are lesser know so I'm sure that's why he's not list as having appeared on TAGS. Brenda Wrote: Since Mr. Schwamp did not have any lines, I think he was not a member of the actor's union and was not allowed to say anything. That would also explain why he has no credits at the end of the show. And, maybe why absolutely NOBODY knows who he is. Well I don't know about that because at least one time they did try to give him a speaking part. Jack Dodson tells the story about it in one of the older TAGS books or maybe it was an old issue of the bullet I can't remember. He tells of how in the lodge episode they have dialogue for him to speak but he just could not get it right no matter how many times he tried so eventually they just gave up and cut it out of the episode. It would be interesting to see an original script of this episode to see if it's in there or if it was just some token jester that they were just trying to slip in there for him. Re: Barney's stunt double
Janet Wrote: In the process, I found his IMDB listing. However, no TAGS episodes are listed in his work as a stunt double. But for his acting work, one 1964 TAGS episode is listed (not named, but presumably Barney's Sidecar) and his role given as townsman. I checked the database on Mayberry.com, and he is credited for that show. So if he actually did stunt work on TAGS for Don, why isn't that listed on IMDB? His work as stunt double in Don's movies is listed there. Janet, The answer is simple IMDB has lots of errors and omissions. That's a lot of data to have everything 100% correct and complete all the time. As far as the way he's listed in the Griffith show credits I have no idea maybe it was a mistake, maybe he had a part other than the stunt work and it got cut, maybe they had to list him that way to get a certain kind of pay scale who knows. Johnny Coons is listed as being in an episode and he's not so there are errors in a few of the Griffith show credits. But I'd almost bet my life that in the high speed scenes of Barney on the cycle, Jerry is the one driving it not Don Knotts. As for the Mayberry.com database Alan has done a most excellent job with that but there are errors there also like Richard Bull as Bill Lindsey in Goober Makes History That is actually Sandy Kenyon the same guy that played George Hollander in Opie Steps Up In Class and that may not be Alan's fault it may be and I think it is listed that way in the credits of that episode somebody needs to check. Though somewhat of a minor role here, Bavier is pretty fiery when she's angry and vocalizes so (just like when she did to Andy when he was to evict the farmer from his land for the new county road, and when he tries to smooth things out w/Bee and Clara when Keevy Hazelton gave their song the fast treatment at rehearsal) This 1960 Rawhide episode has Bavier using an Irish (maybe Scottish?) accent. But as usuall the important stuff here and on Alan's Miss Crump's Blackboard is never read or responded to but drivil and trivial trivialities are talked about forever that's why I seldom post because anything worth reading or responding to is usually ignored. Some one here that has more time than I do could verify by watching the Lucy episode she's credited in you can also check her out on IMDB. From the Digest (below) Yes, Silvia, her name is Hazel Pierce. She was Lucille Ball's stand-in for all the I Love Lucy episodes. She also was an extra on a number of ILL episodes, as well as some TAGS and Dick Van Dyke shows. She may have appeared in other shows as well, but these are the ones I've seen her in. Hazel finally had a spoken line in one of the Lucy shows, Lucy Goes to Sun Valley, which was one of the hour-long shows. She played a waitress in that one. TAGS castmembers in The Ghost and Mr. Chicken
I'm sure I remember folks talking about this before but I don't remember the numbers reported being this high. I watched this movie this weekend for the first time since I was a little kid and it was great. I could not believe how many TAGS cast members I noticed. As I watched it I counted well over twenty. Looking on the IMDB this morning I count 23 listed in the cast the director is Alan Rafkin A TAGS director It was written by Evertt Greenbaum Jim Fritzell with help from Andy Griffith also Jerry Brutsche is the stunt double and he is listed in the Barney's Side Car episode He's probably Don's Double. That Makes 28 people linked to TAGS!! and I think there is more that were not listed on IMDB just 1 would be James Seay I think I spotted him as the typist in the court room. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://mail.wbmutbb.com/mailman/listinfo/wbmutbb_wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Found Him in NM enforcing the Green River Ordinance
Jim, I just got off the phone with Mark Miller he played Bob Rogers in the Barney's Replacement episode. What a nice guy we talked for over a half hour. He's not really retired he's writing scripts stuff, and they are in the works to remake the movie Savannah Smiles that he wrote and stared in back in 1982. Tim McGraw is slated to play the lead and Mark will have a roll as a detective. I'm going to send him some Mayberry stuff and get some autographs. It's taken me a long time to find him I finally figured out who his ex wife was and made contact with her and she gave me his info. Maybe you could include these finds in the Bullet and let the Mayberry fans know they are still alive and kicking. Keep this part to yourself though Mark Miller P.O.
