Re: Japanese games Translation projects

I think the problem, Dark, is that those ten people are more than happy with what they have and feel that its not necessary to translate in the first place, which is sad because I do, as a matter of fact, think that these games do deserve a wider audience. The English speaking market has seen some great games, but whether its because of the resources or simply the time the developers put into the games themselves, Japanese games are much more in depth and thought out than many, but not all of the games we have in the english market. I site the Bokurano Daibouken series as an example. Bokurano Daibouken 2 which was the first one I played came out in 2010. The last game in the trilogy, 3, didnt come out until October of 2013. That was three years between releases... and it floored everyone who played it when it came out. Partially, I think, because of the fact that yukio spent three who knows how much time in those three years working on things like the flight syst
em, stealth missions, stats for all 119 and more weapons in the game, even things like being able to attack enemies from different angles and on one occasion moving platforms.Anyway, ramble aside, in response to your comment on other topics... I also dont think Japanese games hit it off on audyssey because the discussions never mentioned them. They only cropped up a few times, but I agree the process of setting so many things up probably seems daunting to some people. But I think that, again, the amount of people who play Japanese games in the audiogames community is probably similar to the American portion of gamers that play import games and just rely on web translations and youtube videos. hahaha.Anyhow, I do hope this project gets off the ground... and although copying and pasting Google translate would be fine, if there are people willing, Id rather shoot for something more. Not a perfect translation, perhaps, but something a bit more substancial than
stuff people will have to unscramble since Im afraid that would be another turnoff. But keep your thoughts coming, Dark. Id appreciate any you might have!

Can we move this to the appropriate topic? not as a moderation thing, just so we can have this discussion in one place... but my last comment in here about the subject would be that Dark, because the Google Translate frankly sometimes comes out as nonsense that has to be unscrambled. Night of Parasite which yes, did remind me of hong kong cinema a little as well in its English work... was actually understandable and translated in all probability by a human. google translate can sometimes be helpful, and sometimes be utterly useless especially when there are things like laughter, or a lot of slang written into the dialog. lol

Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone

I really like the idea that the number of people in a mission increases the reward. That would be another way to customise but with team spirit in mind. I have to agree that the gap between players of different skill level seems a lot bigger these days. The thing with the Deathbringer missions is that everyone wants to do them, even when theyre not ready for them. 200 crates with 180 normal zombies still nets around 500-600,000 XP which is more than enough to level 5 players until you get to around level 350 or so. There is no need to automatically go for Deathbringer missions. I think the option should be available for people who do need a challenge but maybe there could be a balance by increasing the rewards for normal, bitey and fierce zombies. It wouldnt be worth as much as Bloodthirsty and Deathbringer missions but it may help those who dont have the time to invest in Swamp that some of the higher level people do.Another route to levelling might be fu
n, like if quest items (and only quest items; not broken items or dogtags) give XP as a reward as well. Maybe only 100 or so so that its a bit of a grind and it isnt worth it for the higher level players to do for much of the time but perhaps that skill that increases the rep for handing in quest items could increase the XP as well?Im not sure that a kill streak multiplier will solve the problem here. All that means is that you can run around map 4 with 50 bloody clothes, get a mighty swarm after you then turn and start racking up points. The higher level you are the more likely you are to have powerful assault rifle skills with extended magazines to capitalise on this route to XP. It might be fun if it was maybe not a very large increase so you could set yourself a challenge as something else to do in Swamp but its just as easy to exploit as any other XP method. Also, Ive experienced the bug where quest rewards arent registering as w
ell.Is the axe supposed to add to your shot count because it does. I thought it was not?

As much as I like the swamp missions, they take you straight to your object, but it sounds as though youre hinting at making us find them ourselves, and that would add more challenge and fun to the game.

Re: Japanese games Translation projects

Well have to see if any of the games can handle multiple languages without having to be rewritten or have something vital changed... but I still think the process isnt as complicated as its chalked up to be. and of course, I dont mean to downplay western developers... Swamp is the best example of the potential of how complex and deep a game can be, but not many developers spend as much time on as much time as Aprone probably does, and thus most of the games we tend to get here take little more than an hour or two to finish. Ive played through Shadow Line multiple times, each playthrough taking me about 15 hours with all the exploration, and I only got 77% of all possible items and only two out of the five endings that is possible to obtain. so while I dont doubt the quality of some western games, especially n audio design, in terms of complextiy the par just hasnt been matched yet. and youre probably right about the sighted portion o
f import players being higher. It was just a wild guess on my part based on what Ive seen personally. Out of all the gamers I know in person which is quite a few of them... I am the only one who plays imports regularly. As for the tools, neither of us will probably be able to debate this... without input from one of the actual developers themselves anyway. hahaha.

What Im trying to record includes spoken words and some singing and its the singing that has the most impact. Im just trying to record a single track and not mix in any instruments or anything. My microphone is recognised by Windows and Audacity and I can set the levels for it in the Windows control panel. It just seems that this doesnt help much when Im trying to record with Audacity. Please can someone help me to sort out the recording levels for Audacity? The wagon in Keth, I think it was a wagon, is in the centre of the village, it could have been a cart or something similar.Dark, while you can use arrow heads you can also sharpen the arrow to just put a sharpened point on the end of the shaft instead of using an arrowhead. Also remember you can gather arrow to pick up any arrows when youre finished and put them back in your quiver. From what I can tell crafting arrows works as follows:Carve the arrow from a small bstave, that is a small branch with the shavings carved off. I like to carry some of the shavings in case I need tinder for a campfire but thats just me.Cut nock to put a nock in the arrowMeasure arrow, this requires you to have a bow with youcut end, this cuts the arrow to sizeFletch arrow, this requires you to have both feathers and sinew. Note the sinew has to be cut before use.Either attach the arrowhead or sharpen shaft to give it a point. All that s
aid shop bought arrows are only 5 riln so I wouldnt worry too much about fletching early on, just make sure you account for the number youll lose either from flying off into the distance or from getting stuck in enemies which run off. If you prefer slings are also available and the ammunition is free, you just go somewhere in the wilderness, somewhere near a river is best, and forage stone. You can also hurl these if you so wish. When I went to emleth I used the map from the crossroads and just worked it out from the coordinates, using map nearby. Ive not been back since I didnt see anything that interesting.Oh and Dark, dont necessarily rule out using other melee weapons. Your staffs skill wont help the other weapons but youll also have been building the generic melee skill which will, not to mention your dodge skill. In fact my Utasa is probably going to swap to an iron rapier so I might send you my old steel one.

Re: Japanese games Translation projects

@Assault freak, I agree on those ten or so people whove got the translations running being happy and effectively saying sod everyone else , however that isnt a good attitude or likely to win friends or promote the games elsewhere. My point on Google translation was that from what I gather, the long winded translation process results! in a google translation, effectively people are taking the games text already, running it through Google translate, and then dealing with it in the game, however its not exactly a major stretch to just do that same thing with the text provided from the games code and copy back in the translated text. yes, a full blone, professional quality sub, or at least some degree of clearing the quality of the translated text within the game would be awsome, but sinse currently the options are either A, go through a hugely complex procress or B, not bother with the games, any method of running the games would
be better I think, and after all as I said provided the facility to get the translated text back into the games code was there it wouldnt actually be a majorly different process to the way people play the games anyway. As to the proportion being similar to the proportion of American (or other english speaking), gamers who play import games, as my brother is a huge Anime fan I actually think the proportion is higher but for a very simple reason, a sighted person doesnt have to muck about with the games text, they can just glance from a translation back to the game itself, plus, a good few indi japanese games have already had fan subs anyway the way quite a few anime do sinse there is an established community of people who make it their business to export these to others. So, bottom line, I hope this gets fixed, sinse I dont doubt the quality of the games, although I think it is a little unfare to automatically do down developers like aprone
who do! expend the time on what they do, and Im still not entirely convinced more tools arent involved. Either way that is another debate, and however it pans out I do hope translation can be undertaken sinse I would very much like to play these myself, I just dont want to start tinkering with my pcs language or localization settings or using so many peaces of software, especially if the end result is a garbled google translation anyway.

The catch with crafting is the quality of the resulting item is dependent on how much grinding youve done. The iron bound staffs are available in Mistral and Haiban I believe but sadly not Shadgarde.I wasnt going to mention the route to chapter house since its supposedly secret but heres my route: From Haiban go southwest twice, go south till you find the dark clearing, then head due west until you hit the emberberry thicket, then go pass and follow it round, then once out in the wilderness go southwest and go hill.Another useful command is area which tells you what area youre in, especially handy when you get tasks asking you to go to a specific area. From the fork at the saucy templar north of shadgarde you can get to a hamlet called Keth really easily, just go northeast twice and north three times then go trail. In there is a wagon I believe which sells a huge variety of tools, including skinning knives which supposedly give a b
onus to skinning that I havent seen anywhere else. They also sell just about every other tool you could possibly want, including cooking equipment.

Yes, they came from a website.(A chiptune soundfont could be used to make chiptunes out of midis, too. Or possibly the BGT soundtrack, but that leaves much more of the instrument design in the programmers hands. And editing/reviewing lengthy tracks in BGT is kinda painful.)

2015-01-31 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : CAE_Jones via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Japanese games Translation projects

My thoughts are to stick with the companion program concept, but only one--no need for a specific screen reader, language packs, ap locale, region/language settings, etc.The reason being that it saves the need for the developers to edit our translations into the programs and recompile. Its less work all around, and can get the project released (and updated, if need be) much more quickly. This would be slightly more complex on the users end, in the sense that theyd need to download and run the translation program, but itd be a fire-and-forget type thing. Im imagining it auto-detecting changes to the clipboard, so as to not require any additional keystrokes, etc.I am most concerned about character encoding, if we take this route. I assume that the actual data that the games send to the clipboard will not be scrambled, but there might be some variable somewhere, OS or otherwise, that would treat it as something other than Japanese. The
text that reaches the translation program needs to be in a format it can interpret, and if the actual data is unchanged but just an encoding variable is different, that wont be a problem at all. But Im not sure thats whats happening--indeed, Im not even sure if the clipboard text even gets scrambled for systems without Japanese support set up.(Side note: I got the impression that the BK2 translations so far had a few small errors here and there. For example: was the tutorial section about smashing the cars offering you a fish, or was it calling them Small Fries? Nothing overly important, but I could see someone being surprised when they didnt find a small fish in their collection items later.)

Re: Japanese games Translation projects

So I may or may not have watched translation projects struggle to define conventions before... I imagine we should do that. This would range from things like names (Gaki Shounen Vs. Brat Boys, Yamijin Vs. Darkness Person (Or something more creative that gets the same idea across?)), to Japanese language puns/concepts (I dont remember... what is the Japanese name for the Spirit Trees, again?), to cursing (cursing is handled so differently in just various English-speaking cultures that figuring out how to translate so different a system of vulgarity is mind-boggling. Is KUSO Crap or Dammit or something else entirely? Does it even matter that people get to shout CHIKUSHO! on childrens cartoons, even though its strong enough that it usually gets translated like FCK! or SON OF A BITCH!? What about subtle things like politeness/inflection? And I get the impression that Bastard is a much less censored w
ord in everywhere that isnt Middle Class America. Well, and BK2 includes a character who is occasionally referred to as Analysis Bastard, at least until he requests people stop calling him that.)I wouldnt mind making this optional, actually. If someone prefers untranslated names, they could select this in the translation program; we could have an optional footnote system, and for things where the translation comes down to the opinions of the translator (such as vulgarity), the user could select which opinions they like best. But these are complicated, and were going for as simple and elegant as possible. What say you, potential users/translation team?

copy getting started

2015-01-31 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Articles Room : hacker via Audiogames-reflector

copy getting started

Hello, As you might or might not have seen, the link in my signature points to a cloud service called copy that I have found to be accessible if used in a certain way. Here, I will document the most accessible way that I have found to set up copy. I will assume the following things about you:1: you have an idea of what a cloud storage service does.2: you can edit files in notepad or whatever editor you use and can save them with a different extension (.bat)3: you are either familiar with technology, are willing to learn or ask for assistance if needed.Enough with the pre-reqs, lets start this thing. With copy, you can get 15 gigs of space for free, if you use my refferal link, you will get a free 5 gig bonus. First, either click on my refferal link or go to copy.com and click sign up and fill out the information requested (name, email, password, etc). Linux Instructions: Untar the tarball somewhere you can easi
ly get to with the cd command. Next, open a terminal and cd to where you untared the tarball, like this:cd /home/user/Downloads/copy/copy/archNote, the tarball has 3 different architecture binaries, armv6h for imbedded systems like pies, x86 (32-bit intel) and x86_64(64-bit intel). Replace arch with the appropriate arch for your system. To login, run this:./CopyConsole -r=/home/user/Copy -u=youremailTo sync after you login, run:./CopyConsoleTo sync on login, add this to your shells startup script, .profile for bash and .zlogin for zsh, etc...sh -c cd /home/user/Downloads/copy/copy/arch ; ./CopyConsole Mac Users:If the mac archive has a CopyConsole binary, use it the same way you would use the linux binary in the previous example, only put the sync command in for example sync.sh and stick that in your ~/Library/StartupItems folder and make it executable.Web UI: If you want to
do things like sharing folders and access your files on machines that do not have the copy agent installed, you can just go to copy.com in a web browser, hit log in, live long and prosper. The web ui might be confusing at first, put think of it like a tablet ui, you select a file and on the right or bottom of the page, actions appear like download, share, etc. I find that this design works the best with chromevox on google chrome/chromium. Windows Instructions:Download the software and important, after you install, close the graphical agent since it is written in qt which is semi-accessible, but still, if you really want to play around with the gui, get ready for some good old fashion trial and error. Next, after you close the graphical setup, open notepad and create a file called login.bat. Put this code in: @echo offmkdir %userprofile%\copycd %appdata%\copycopyconsole -r=%userprofile%\copy -u=youremail
Replace youremail with the email address that you used when signing up. Once you save this file, run it. You will be prompted password:, enter your copy password and hit the enter key. Once the window displays started copy... then press enter to exit, do so to close this instance of the agent. Automatic syncing:To have copy sync your files when you start your computer, put the following code in a file called sync.bat and stick it in your startup folder in the start menu:@echo offcd %appdata%\copycopyconsoleNote that this will have its own window that will show you the statistics of how much data is being synced. If you close this, you will kill the agent and will have to either reboot or run the sync file again to continue syncing.Mobile apps: You can use the mobile apps available for android, ios, or most recently windows phone to do the same things that you can do using t
he web ui, share folders, download your files, etc. If you have any questions, either reply to this topic or send me an email, dnl.n...@gmail.com.Happy syncing

I do. I do not use Skype for text chat and therefore doubt it would be helpful; Im on an outdated branch of NVDA for a variety of reasons and therefore it doesnt quite work right given the latest Skype updates. I also do not give it out publicly unless I have good reason. But seriously, either read a tutorial and figure it out or just say I want to make a dictionary entry that replaces x with y. There isnt anything which may be said on this topic generally that is not said on a billion internet pages, and regexp isnt the kind of thing that can be explained simply. To answer the original question, the following should replace all sequences of digits with themselves. But the real complexity in this is writing a regexp in the first place, though this one is about as simple as they get. Maybe this tells you what you want to know, but I doubt it.Pattern: (\d+)Replacement: \1Check regexp.

Life After A breakup

Life After A breakup

Hello everyone. So, Monday night, my now ex girlfriend skyped me and told me itd be better if we split up. Of course I was saddened by the news and agreed half-heartedly. But later, while sitting on the couch and watching Harry Potter, I got to thinking: Im going about this all wrong. While Im sitting here being all sad about it, Im missing oppurtunitys to meet new people, do new things. So, I gave myself 2 choices. 1. I sit here and be depressed because a girl thought it wasnt working out. Or 2. Move on, have a happy life, find another girl, stay in contact with my ex because we are still good friends, and, again, be happy. I chose the latter option. So its been almost a week, I texted her tuesday or Wednesday morning, kindly letting her know Id stay in contact but would indeed be moving on. She agreed. Theres a girl I like. I might ask her out, and it may be a bit soon, but again, see the options I wrote above. Lifes to short to gi
ve certain things time. I may be coming off as a jerk, a player, someone who doesnt take relationships seriously. This is not true, because I have held a 1 year relationship before. And that girl and I are still good friends. So, for some of you teenagers here on the forum, remember that you have those 2 options and, yes, you may have been extremely attached to her. But if that attachment isnt mutual, the relationship will quickly stagnate and one of you will snap and say something that will ruin all possibilities of a friendship. Just my thoughts.

I want to track music with the notes in a grid and make Techno music. I hurd mad tracker is good and stuff but the only thing Im having truble is reading what line or part of the patern Im on. Basicly music tracking is ware you make peaces of music then you arange the patterns into a list that plays them in a certin order. You enter notes into a grid and the tracks are going up and down. That is the type of tracking I want to do with music.

Re: Life After A breakup

Hello,I have almost a similar story.Last year I loved a girl from my class and I felt extremely loved to her. We spent lots of hours chatting and talking to each other. We even used to send messages whenever we woke up and whenever we slept. After a great period of time, we had come to the point where we shared everything regarding our privacy. One day, while we were chatting on Facebook, we opened a topic related to family. She told me that she lived with her mother, father and her younger brother. Also she told me about her uncle who lived with them but she never spoke to him. I asked the reason why? After a couple of minutes she replyed telling me that she didn’t speek to him because he had just told this girl’s father that she has a relation with a guy, and she smokes so much. Her father hadn’t been agree at all, and they got into trouble. I hardly loved that girl and wanted to spend endless times with her. She was so lovely that she’d stay with me all the time without getting ever bord. The problem was that the guy wasn’t me, but somebody else. When I read that message I wrote above, I got red into face, crashed the keyboard and soon I got through headache and boredom. Although I wrote her that you don’t have to worry about all this, I hardly wanted to shake her face ova the ground. It was really incredible that I had just lost that girl. However, we were in the same class, and I used not to talk anymore to her, I didn’t even say Good Morning when she came to the class. Days later she came to me and asked why I wasn’t getting along with her like we did before. I told her that we are now broke up, and I don’t like to be with you anymore, but I noticed that she wanted to treat me like a friend. Hell no!We had kisses and other stuff and how could it be turned into this kind of relation. We are still friends, and I still hate the guy who grabbed her.So, what I would suggest is that you should go on with your life. Find another girl to live with and do your best to make your relation work out. You won’t be called a jerc, nor a person who’s not serious at love or whatever you think they’re gonna call you. I asure you for this.

Zhengdu screen reader

2015-01-31 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : pitermach via Audiogames-reflector

Zhengdu screen reader

Heres something kinda interesting that we discovered. Did you know that there are other screen readers around on Windows apart from the big, popular ones? They are usually somewhat known in the country they were made in, but not really known outside of it. So, in Germany you have Cobra, in Japan you have PCTalker and a few others, Brazil also has one, but its name escapes me. But the one I want to talk to you about is Zhengdu Screen Reader. What is it and why is it worth it?Well, its a screen reader that comes in 2 versions, a free public wellfair edition and a business/commertial edition which has a few additional features to do with mouse navigation and braille support. 90% of its functions are available for free. You can download it from the link above, keep in mind the site is in Chinese and so you will need either to run it through google/bing or use NVDAs instant translate addon
to download it. The program itself, with a few small exceptions, is in English however which is what made a few people and myself look into it further. In terms of functionality, its definitely on-par with NVDA, including a few features only available as addons. Even if you dont use it as your main screen reader, if youre a mostly NVDA user like myself it will make an excellent backup. So what does it have going for it? Like I said, its on-par with NVDA in areas like object navigation or web support. The web support only works with Microsoft controls though, so no Firefox. This is understandable considering firefoxs marketshare in China is not particularly high. The one thing it does very well is performance. This reader is ridiculously light. It bairly uses any CPU (NVDA overhere usually uses around 40-50%), its very responsive, especially on webpages - big sites like BCT load in 2 seconds and there is absolutely no slowdown even on _javascript_-heavy sites like Facebook, and speech never stops, even if a program crashes or becomes unresponsive. It also seems not to have issues with more graphical programs like Steam, which very few readers can deal with. While I dont think I will make a switch to it fulltime Im definitely keeping it around as a backup because all things considered its extremely impressive. Now, if you decide to try this yourself, here are some instructions and hotkeys. This post will be updated as I find things out (Im challenging myself to use Zhengdu for a week, and so far its going quite well)installation and first time setupAfter you download the zip file, extract the installer somewhere and run it. You will start to hear a lot of Chinese speech, which is the license agreement. If you keep your other screen reader on, you will see that the screen has a very standard inosetup installer so just hit enter or alt+N to go on. The program will sta
rt installing and play music as it does. This shouldnt take more than a few minutes at most, usually its just about 30 seconds even on a slow, dual core system with no hyperthreadding. Eventually the music will stop and you will hear more speech. Now you have the finish button and the launch this program checkbox, which is checked by default. When the screen reader launches, it will display the quickstart dialog and start speaking. First, you will probably want to turn the punctuation to a lower setting as by default every single space is announced, as you will have probably noticed by now. Close the quickstart, and press zdsr+Z. The ZDSR key is your modifier, which just like in other SRs can be either insert key or Capslock. This opens its main menu and the first option you land on is ZDSR settings. Go ahead and press enter on it. The various options here should be pretty self explanatory but for now just keep tabbing until you hit the punctuation scheme combo box
. Set it to either default or none, and press alt+A to apply your changes. Now you should be able to understand the speech better, and at any time you can go to the voice schemes dialog to change your voice. If, after you hit apply nothing happens, you will have to run ZDSR as admin. By default, it will be installed under c:\Program Files (x86)\zdsr\zdsr_pw\1.4.9.1\ (remove the x86 from that path if youre on a 32-bit system. Find ZDSRStart.exe in the list, open its properties, and on the compatibility tab, check run this program as an administrator. Now it should be able to save its settings properly.HotkeysThis list will be updated as I find things out.ZDSR+Escape exitZDSR+F1 keyboard helpZDSR+F5 refresh screenZDSR+F8 read mouse cursor shapeZDSR+F9 change voice schemeZDSR+F10 change active soundcard ZDSR+F12 read time, twice read dat

Re: Progress blastbay games?

Hi all,I just discovered this topic by accident and figured I would send a quick reply, so that people arent left wondering. To begin, I would like to say that I have had a lot of fun making audio games. It has been a hobby for me for many years. Thats how it started, and thats what it is going to continue to be. There were a few years when I was endeavoring to do it commercially which, in itself, is not necessarily a bad idea. The only problem, as others have said already, is the size of the community. I find it hard to justify the amount of time required to make something of reasonable quality given the low turnout. Does that mean that I have left the audio games scene for good? It does not. It just means that it is now most definitely a hobby. I now work full time at Elias Software, so any game development would be done in my free time and would be based entirely on what I feel like creating at the time, rather than a more structured venture with
commercial aspirations. This in turn means that I will not be making regular updates, nor will I commit to release dates or put out concept demos etc precisely because I do not want to leave a lot of unfinished projects lying around.Regarding BGT, it will not be discontinued. Given my full time job I will not have time to maintain it, but have made arrangements to see to it that the project is not left to suffer code rot. I will be posting a separate topic with more information on that as soon as all the details are finalized. While Im sure many people still have questions, I hope I managed to clear up at least the most important points. I will keep up to date with this topic over the next few days and try to address anything else that comes up.Kind regards,Philip Bennefall

@SebbyYes you can.Read this:http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/10181-h … rom-winpe/ You have to create an Nlited iso of distribution share of Windows XP with all storage drivers integrated. This may pose some problems on newer unsupported hardware but its considerably faster and more accessible than the old unattended winnt.sif method.Installing Windows Xp or any other version from WinPEs 32/64 bit environment offers several interesting unattended scenarios.

@Danny, if your planning missions for dmnb, perhaps you could also use these to create a tutorial. one thing I liked about project alpha is the way that much of what you needed to know was explained to you as you played the game.

Looks like you got what i sent, dark. have ya?I spotted an infested raccoon near Tarueka yesterday, still could use its pelt. Infested in the wild arent as tough as those in the city, just imo. Also, some people could get the infested meat, how could you do that? I found one in the trunk, not sure who put it there.@Dark :Your pickaxe can be of some use in the wild if you have a farm somewhere. It can act as a shovel to help you till the ground. I prefer carrying my pickaxe more than just bother getting shovel.Oh, a little tips for arrow lovers, you can find somewhere to make your broadhead very easily. Just go out of shagerd and look around the east side of the river, dont follow the road cause its before the road, youll find the clearing there. Before the clearing is the forest with some flint, which is very easy to use as materials to make arrow heads.

2015-01-31 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : hacker via Audiogames-reflector

copy getting started

Re: Japanese games Translation projects

Hi.Translating Japanese games is an extremely hard job. There are a lot of walls; complicated environment needed to be prepared, scrambled translations, and difficulty for dealing with strings contains numbers or other paramaters which changes every time.Japanese games that officially supports translation is BK2 only right now. Actually, I once abandoned the translation of BK3 since it had become much more huge and complicated than expected. These titles(Including BK series and other Japanese games) are very difficult to translate without modifying source code or building a kind of translation program by the developer.Personally, Im very busy with school now. Im preparing for entrance exam of univercity, having to study hard since its very difficult. I wont have enough time to maintain my games or projects after April. After ending the exam, if the result was good, I want to restart my projects. Translating my existing game is include
d in the projects.Im going to create a small-group beta team, and work on the translations. The job beta team members will do is to correct English errors or make the expressions realer after I translate the strings. All strings will be able to be modified by editing a simple text file encoded by UTF-8, meaning all team members can edit the file without having to change system locale setting. This may need a long time, and it cannot be started right now, but I think it isnt so bad.How does everyone think about this?

There are painted arrows? I guess its probably just for style.Ive had a look in the shadgarde graveyard at the nethrim and its quite a bit harder than before the reshuffle they did recently. There used to be infested squirrels and rats, now there are skeletons and phantoms and the phantoms are the incorporeal kind that take very little physical damage. Where Im doing 1 or 2 physical damage to them with my Utasa Id normally be doing more like 10 to 30 to a normal enemy. Thats why I advocate the use of really fast iron weapons against the nethrim, since the alchemical damage you do will outpace the physical damage and the amount of alchemical damage doesnt seem to be affected by the weapons own damage so you get just as much with a staff or dagger as with a greataxe.

Monthly chat February 2015

2015-01-31 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Dark via Audiogames-reflector

Monthly chat February 2015

Welcome to this monts monthly chat topic. the reason for these is simple, that the offtopic room isnt intended to just be the discuss technology and occasionally blindness room So here is a topic for casual chat about any subject you wish. How your life is going currently, what books/films/music your enjoying at the moment, what games your spending time on, how work/university/school is going, anything whacky youve been up to etc. Really just discuss anything, this is intended to be a relaxed chat for all members to participate in.Also, remember discussion is the operative word, there is no rule which says you can only post once in this topic. As for me, as usual I get to start the ball rolling. Ive just had a fun time being that my mum decided to make a propper English afternoon tea with formal china, tiny sandwiches and a lot! of cakes, especially her very nice home made flapjacks, and
for any Americans, in Britain flapjacks are extremely nice biscuit things, somewhat similar to shortbread but made with black treacle and oats, (where as I think in the states theyre some form of pancakes). We then wandered over to a concert with some of my mums friends, which was fun. The theme was flying and they had a nice varied program, everything from John Adams short flight in a fast machine, to Vaughn Williams Lark assending, and even the old crooners Fly me to the moon and lets fly away, not to mention the themese from Superrman, E T, and of course the spitfire prelude. They finished with Flight of the valkyries which was awsome, although the soprano they had to sing Dvoraks song to the moon needed shooting, and though the Lark Assending was lovely, the orchestra made a regular pigs ear out of headwigs theme from harry potter. As to other stuff, Ive been really taken up with clok mud recently. its actu
ally nice, Ive not been half this absorbed in a game for ages, which is encouraging, but I just find the exploring and wilderness and tasks amazing, Ive already had a couple of nights where I sat down to play at eight Pm and then suddenly find its two in the morning, which is fantastic, sinse Ive not had that experience with a game for quite some time, and indeed have been a little concerned Ive been hitting burnout somewhat, though obviously not. After finishing Ian Banks Player of games Ive got back to the Doctor who audios from big finish, though now Im on 162 of the monthly range so only have another thirty to go . The Emerald tiger was fantastic the second time, though then again I thought so first off, the fifth doctor, Nissa, Tegan and turlough in 1920s India with an alien mineral that has transformed a jungle,
complete with some awsome junglebook and tarzan references, a fantastic score and such great moments as the Doctor chasing a train in a hot air balloon and Nissa nearly turning into a tiger. Either when I have finished my rerun of all the Doctor who dramas or when I next fansy a break, I have the rest of Banks culture books plus Patric Rofthus King Killer. That is one many people have recommended to me and I really look forward to trying.Februarly looks like a busy month for me. There is a series of ethics and political philosophy lectures focused on equality at my university which of course are right up my alley, plus I have several singing engagements, including a two day vocal studdies course on preparing a roll down in London which should be fun. Ive also recently been asked to sing some Italian arias at a local restaurants Italian evening. Its a restaurant attached to a teaching colige where they train silver service weighters and chefs, a
nd they occasionally run themed evenings. Getting a three course Italian meal in return for belting out a few arias is more than fare enough to me :d. So, that is what I am up to currently, hows about everyone else?
