Re: Audio game jam - No Video Jam runs thru August 28

Well I just looked at the games. Not sure how to rate on itch or post comments, I can hit buttons but the fields don't seem to come up to do things in waterfox/firefox.So here are my comments.React(Early Access)Story, ok.Accessibility, ok.Gameplay, unknown.I start to play, I hit a key, game over.I didn't hear any audio bar the tts.DyechanInteresting matrix like story and good sfx.Would be better if I could have hit the right keys to do actions, always seemed to skip the first option and act like I made the first choice.Nice ai, except when you sleep, it seems it must have run a matrix like entertainment program then crashed and got stuck in a never ending loop.If I could download this and play it well who know. Its got potential to be a good game maybe.I Can See YouNever got this thing to work even though I have a web cam so I can't really rate it.A Walk in the DarkI guess its accessible but I never got the concept, a bopit like game, but really boring and slow.S.E.A.Either it took ages to start or it never started, I waited a full minute and the game just didn't seem to start.Unwanted PassengersOne of the 2 only other games with actual value. The concept is nice, almost like the alien baby from the alien movie looking for the queen type deal.I never got past level4 but the sound was quite good and it was fun.EchoCouldn't get this game to run on my system so can't rate, never loaded.Audio Death PunchOk I guess but after hitting left and right several times I died.I assume I am not playing this thing right and never got the concept.Sounds and arcade feel with 8bit sfx were really good and it sounded potentially good.BlindedI got this game to run but mazes are not a strong point, never got the concept but it was accessible and sounds were good.PRESS 0 FOR OPERATORNo exe file in the archive, couldn't play.Light The DarknessNever got this game to work as such, was able to hear a beep but never got to interact with it right.Lost SoulAgain me and mazes. Was able to solve a puzzle and play this, I guess I could get used to it.Cristal JamWasn't able to find all the notes but it was potentially good, liked the sfx and music. What the Deck!?Aparently this is still in source but I will watch for it in alexa and see what it does.Alexa is all audio so its probably going to be interesting.Clashes of the SkyGood sfx, interesting concept, a game I could probably play though not living long and killing a few crafts was nice to play though.Good sound and it sounded really nice.Cave EscapeNever got the concept of this, really boring.NS-RoboticsThe game took ages to load and I didn't understand the navigation at all, interesting sound and concept.Beat Master!Never got to load this or play this at all.mood vibes. its not for windows so I never played it.In the end maybe I am not the right guy to rate half of these, pg13lp seem to do a better job than I do.

Re: Can blind people uses Github and how to do that?

Well to be honest I have been using github for ages now for other projects.Github website has its own windows client. For me since I have to deal with elektron I downloaded latest nodejs current and installed it and selected to install chocolatey as well. This will download and install 10 + gb of files, these are the visual studio 2017 program tools, and windows and other interface sdks and you can install just about anything from the visual studio installer but I havn't done that as I don't need extra. It also installs the python 3.8 or latest python versions and npm.Once thats done you don't need much if all you need to do is run something.npm install, will usually install things from the package json script in your repo's main folder, npm run will set things up and compile, npm update will update, you may have to run that a couple times to get it fully updated and npm audit fix will audit and fix any issues mostly.Over that the only other command I needed is npm clean install. If npm needs updating it will tell you though nodejs updates itself a lot like once a month so its not hard.Once its installed everything things will update when you run either the aditional installs script manually or during a node install from nodejs itself. Its quite easy since the system manages itself and is automated for the most part. Now I have no idea how to program just set the environment but the windows client works well enough to do what I need to do.As long as you have the direct clone of the repo you want from the clone link on the webpage which you need to get with the clone this repo button from the website and the copy link buttons, then it works. The only times this hasn't is when git or one of the servers for a custom repo I used went down, and when a major update broke a module which fixed itself. In the case of the broken module I simply deleted the repo, put it back installed it and then did the npm start and didn't compile anything and it worked.

Re: What do you guys think of Pascal, in terms of accessibility and modern

Hmmm.Well access wize at university 10 years back, you will use something called freepascal.Search it on the net, get and install it and all its stuff. Now, you can't just use freepascal itself.www.bloodshed.net, bloodshedsoftware have dev pascal which is a windows app that will lock into pascal and allow you to compile things. It was accessible, at least I think it is still, do not know about any of this still being about because it was at least 15 years back I did this kind of thing but back in 2005 it was.I was still using xp though.Anyway you would start with begin and end with end.You would have many writelns, for input and readlns for output and between this the opperations. As long as you can read in a console then you will probably be ok.I only learned the basics of programming here. You basically need to write a few math problems to output to consoles and thats about it.No linking, no units, no dlls, not even other modules. Its basically to show you programming.Pascal has no use outside university unless you learn delphi.I really wish my university did python or something at least thats rellivant especially now.The other thing I was taught was basic _javascript_ for internet explorer.I guess now it would be java or something a bit more usefull to be honest.I never got into c or c++ though bloodshed do have a c++ compiler which is contained. To be honest if I was going to learn programming, for a start, I'd start with something simple like bgt then move to python.Technically if you master c you can jump to anything, though if I was moving to the c language or something I'd start with the mono or dotnet stuff which aparently is supposed to be modular and not as hard to learn. Its a real shame there isn't gw basic or any basic for windows.I don't know why microsoft doesn't include some simple basic language for windows but then windows aint simple anymore.

Wordpress is a lot better than it used to be.You do need to secure it though. That means loading a lot of extra modules some payed some not some harder than others but it can be done.If you do get wordpress on your site, I'd strongly recommend to also rout everything through something like cloudflare so you can get security at a dns level.Jet pack, captchabooster and zero spam come to mind to.For me jetpack means I can put my pie into a lot of search engines and get reports without going nuts.I have social programs able to sign in to pinterest, twitter, and facebook as well as others and all I need is an account on each platform, but never need to interact as such.A lot of things can be automated to.

Re: Jgt and nvda 2019.3.

Interesting you should bring that up actually. We have been having a lot of descussion on the main group based on that thing.Nvda 2020 will or should be the next version out.But here's the thing.Even though 2019.3 was semi penned to the public in december or close to that and entered beta, as I understand it, every addon author would have to change their documentation and versions and other thing to 2020 as minimal.Plus all paperwork for 1903 has been done and no one is interested in updating that. There have been addon infrastructure upgrades and a lot of updates round 1903, and a lot of stuff done round 1903 that to change it now just well its not something people want to do.I personally think when we released the release being that it was so fucking close to december when the version came close to going golden that it should have been updated to 2020.Look at amd, the latest driver is 2020 series except it was the second and 3rd release of december. That can't be coincidencePoint is we have done to much to rerelease not that thats the only issue. There are a lot of movements in the organisation. One of these big movements is joseph lee, the main moderator of win10 main, win 10 insiders, the entire win10 echosystemm, and a incubater and writer of several addons.About 2 years back he indicated he was feeling a bit overworked and would have to leave at some point. Now last year he announced that he wanted to release a lot of his incubated projects, drop off a lot of extras to the community, and pull back on his leadership role in the organisation and has started trying to get his successer. There are other restructuring factors going on to.Point is, with everything from the organisation to the reader in a reasonable sized upgrade and transition, I don't think anyone has the stomach to chop and change and fair enough. Some who use 19.2.1 will notice some latest versions of addons at the 20 series not working because they need a new version of a program which is still at beta 1 and may not be released for some time.I have asked about being a release out, but if we don't get a release this month or between february and march, I would suspect that we will either release soon and quickfire in april/may for the 2020 first release of win10 to pop before popping ourselves, or we will wait till 2020 then pop that version then.As it stands there is no real rush at the moment to push out an update right now.In fact for the forseeable future maybe up to 6 months to a year after updates there plans to be a transition where development of older systems will continue. And while there are a few users that have no issues, there are still a lot that have a lot of major issues which may explain why its locked at beta 1 and has been since the end of november. This is a fucking huge update, no one wants it to hose itself especially since this thing is for everyone from poor to wealthy, from blind and helpless, to fully assisted. This is a global thing, its a new engine, a new platform, a new language and a lot of reorganisation of the speech system has been doodled with. For some addons there is a lot to change for others not so much. There is even a plan in the future to allow some addons that don't need to access some functions to skip some of the compatability checks and just work but thats a rough thing and not much has been planned or rather put publically.Point is with a python going to 3x and a lot of library upgrades going on nvaccess is taking the opertunity to do a big upgrade itself.I suspect this has more inner workings than we could ever imagine, and to chop and change right now just is not feesable right now.If what they say is true and we are really close or done on a lot of things then who knows. There is a lot for example of moving everything on bitbucket and a lot of older systems to git and this seems to have speeded up.Of course, we won't know exactly when release is supposed to come till the translations and minor code changes freez for the stable locked in version release. Before it does that, we need to go to beta 2 3 4 5 and so on usually 3-4 betas, then hit the rc 1-2-3-4 branch which would indicate a stable roleout. After we hit rc and once its sorted out and translations are locked we literally have a couple weeks or less it will be a matter of time till the release comes. As far as I know we are in beta1 and there are still a lot of alpha branches running for the version because people are still testing alpha so it should pick up.Saying that, all traffic on all lists seems to have gone quiet, and what there is seems to focus on the restructure so I suspect those that need are working hard on actually getting the release out tothe next level.

Re: AudioGame Collaboration: Should We Do It?

Well I am no coder, but if you need a beta tester either in source or compiled, as well as sound desighn, I can probably help.I have access to a few free and some payed libraries gdc mainly and a few others.I have a workstation with 16gb ram and one of the semi latest 2nd generation ryzen5 cpus.I allready use github to test beatstar sources and npm.If you need me I am here, I also have a load of time as my work is freelance contract. While that has occasionally landed me a high paying contract, most of them are reasonable, bar a few days a year, where I have government research which is worth more than any opensource project is in fact its my most highly payed gig of all, I should be able to handle most things unless it falls on weird days in spring, mid summer or winter. So basically if you want something and I am not about I am grinding my nose somewhere else for someone else, for cash and a meal so yeah bar that I can work all day and night. My timezone is gmt+12 hours, so for those of you on the other side of the world its probably likely I can't participate actively in any group else be outside the descussions but I can certainly talk on here, be in some email descussion group, etc.Skype, well I never liked the interface but if you guys are interested, I can setup a descussion group on groups.io for the project if people want to talk on there. It would be easier for me to well do whatever with that though I probably won't be talking all the time. When I did run on a skype group, I spent time reading messages and well I couldn't really be active. As long as you take that I am going to potentially answer questions up to a day behind then I can do it.Oh thats also why unless you ask I won't attend any audio conferences because timezone wize its just a total bastard. If you are in the us or europe then time is backward for me.If you are in some island nation or something like argenteena or something really weird maybe I can manage it but yeah.Oh and if you want me to test online my time will be limited due to timezone. Now if you are ok for that, but still think there is room for me to be night watchman or something thats fine.If not, oh well at least I put something up here.Sounds like you are getting enough interest.

Re: A big BGT/PHp folder everyone could work on together

Well with the way bgt is structured and with antivirus stuff mainly ms and others flagging it as a virus due to its construction, as well as its age and its null dev status I wouldn't run bgt at least bgt as a compiled program is off for me, but I guess running from source is fine but still.I agree about the viruses. There was a bt sync folder for a full partnership colaberation thing and it never worked.Yes, a few did actually try to do that and did make a few things.Mostly cracked software, random audio and the like made it there to as well as a virus. The last project was the swamp one, and communityfude which no one does much with in the folders anymore. Before that I was involved with the pkd group testing their stuff, all in autoit, it lasted for 5 years, and a few things were made and fiddled with but like everything else it fizzled out. There was also a guy that opened his ftp site for all to do with whatever. And while I did get some interesting things from there there were viruses, hacks into other computers and the like.I guess if you had a way like a vm and loads of bandwidth you could let all come in, have a way to capture everything to and let people do what for, recording any successes and so on but its been tried before, and its not worked.

Hi.well, ok, those sounds were interesting, maybe not the best but interesting.Ages ago when bgt was good, back when people experimented with soundtracks, there was a competition. There were a lot of stuff made for this and the project was the tonemaker project.Oriolgomez had some of this made some of this. However the project died as quickly as it came.I doubt you can get any of this anymore.I however being a pack rat keep archives of just about everything. This therefor is the archive of what was round that time. Not the bgt tracks sadly, just the compiled datafiles created or that were online at the time.https://www.dropbox.com/s/7eagx11tenrtn … r.zip?dl=1Its a pitty no one really does much with this anymore because with all its issues bgt was fine for a sound chip emulator of the nes or similar. The file will stay up for a couple weeks or so but its not that big anyway.

Um.Hi bob, I am unsure about jaws but the current qt version with nvda has a lot of issues with access so jaws will have the same thing. Now Not sure if I am allowed to discuss the text mode version here or not that I am currently testing but I was able to complete text mode with a little fiddling in about an hour without the issues I had before with nvda.Being that it is a console app, it technically will work with jaws, but jaws and its group behind it is a strange animal these days and I don't know it at least not since 6.2.q

Re: Code 7 Episode 1 Looking for testers

Well, I thought I would respond to the posts on here.First, I am no near rage quitting just yet, I have simply run out of time to test anything, its 2 weeks to christmas, and there are a lot of other things I really need to finnish, I will probably get back to the game at some point, that camera puzzle is quite interesting.I know how the system should work, but I am not exactly sure where to go after I clear square 42 which unlocks the exit square. All the scenes happen on 11-31, so I need 41 unlocked and d243 unlocked, I know I am really close to unlocking it but I have a lot of extra stuff both on and offline I need to actually sort out before I even think of playing any real game, plus with the new rpg popping up after christmas. From what I saw of c7 its a good game, I ofcause completed the sub quests, I do wander though if you unlock the reactor in the science building, I'd still like the option to well complete the sub quest even if I don't need to.Also after I get the reactor code, I'd like an option to have to put that code in.

Well, I get that just after I clear square 42 I think. However It would be nice once I cleared that, if we were told the final tile. Its clear that clearing 41 does not clear the exit, but clearing 42 blocks 31 and I suspect I need 31 and 41 cleared to get out.As it is, I have run out of time to test. There are some books I need to get done, some more gamebooks to go througyh, christmas stuff to do, I had a week to run through tests of this game I stayed with the maze for the last 3 days I no longer have the time to actually continue testing for the moment. Its good that in the release I will be told where things are though.Maybe I restart then.

I have answered your message. While steam can be used kevin its not really accessible at all as a client. As for the message I did at one point get a message about 1 single location. All sinimatic scenes happened on path 1, but while I can manage to get to 41 easily enough I can't from 31 which is where I need to go.In answer to the person having issues, my guess is either alex has no wish to retrace his steps to the maze or simply its sealed from you.At any case on path 31 there is obviously an extra security system and its been going higher and higher in alert level, one assumes once exits open its going to go full bore on you and if you get out its unlikely it will let you back else it entirely fails. And all hell breaks loose.

Re: Code 7 Episode 1 Looking for testers

Hmmm well finally something I have completed.1. turn the solarpanel to 100 as the number. You will have about 120 watts if round 102 just -10 till it is.Turn everything on first.Once the panel is at 120, find a power point and turn it off and you are done. That was the easiest of it all.Exactly what did you do to the cams.I know you managed to do it.You didn't know how but maybe we can both work this out together.spoi\lerspaceOk with that warning out the way.go cf 11then cf12.I think this is how it works pritty sure.Any number with 3 in it modifys centreany number 2 modifies left and any number 1 modifies right at least I have found that out.Rotation places change on each movement.Your goal is to get to 31.So path so farcf11 then 13222333somewhere here you need to try to go 21 and 31.At cf 13 or there abouts you will be notified about the people.21, they become active you have triggered some sort of motion security system you can't detect.31, you put that system into overload mode, but the system aint to acurate without the cams so it doesn't do to much to you yet.Make it to 33,43, 53, is a dead end. Then make it through moving cames about to 42 this gets harder and harder, as you travel around some paths you use will block. After you unlock 51, you get a point where you can enter 41, but d243 is locked. If you unlock 42 then 52 you then get a message saying the path is almost clear which means the exit is unlocked but you can't navigate to 41 from there.Open paths are 13 22 33 53 in fact most paths with 3 are unblocked and most paths with 2 to a certain point are unblocked.Certain paths on 1 are by default unblocked or easy to get to.Its the last 2 rows in the grid which are the tricky ones. You can get to 53 easily enough and 42 with a few doodles but you can't get that cake steal it without paying and walk out the door. You can get to 41 which is where you need to be, but then you have to unblock the barrior airlock.I don't know if people would concidder it to simple, but just like the beginning of the map, I do wander if once you can get into 41 if it wouldn't be to much of a easing up to then have the 243 exit open. You have basically finnished the maze, there are 4 or 5 directions, so one assumes you can get into 41 and out. However I tried to block on cf11 the d241 and it wouldn't so I do think the same should apply. It would be good if there was a set path of cams you had to get through, right now, I am really stuck.I have got close but well.If you can redo the cam part again from another device, or another save can you explain your path to me and what you did so at least I have a chance. When I unlocked 52, I obviously unblocked 243, but I can't get to 41, if I get to 41 I can't unlock d243.I am missing something but there are squares all over the place at least 5 different ones and I end up blocking things behind me and left and right and have to go to 33 to unblock.Another thing if the course is reset if we exit if its unsolved then we wouldn't get totally stuck I am not sure. One thing though I do hope that if we solve it once we know so maybe can get through easily enough I don't want to have to repeat things all the time just to get past the cams all day long.I admit half of the path is quite easy but the last bit.I am totally stumped.

Well scratch that.Somehow after a bunch of blocking and unblocking tiles I managed to get to cf41.There right slap dab in the middle was well the airlook d243.However you can not block or unblock exits aparently.I got the message after I unblocked 52 or was it 42, saying the path was almost clear but I can't get into 41 from that side. Its a pitty your char can't run to the end and just exit. Then again, I really wish I could get this  last part sorted.I have tried to and managed to get some things sorted.Any number with 1 will stop any tile with 3 on it, any number with 3 will stop 2 and any number with 2 will stop 3 well sort of.I have noticed that cf11 is spoken at cf11 but nothing else  Sometimes the rotations don't voice to unless I escape out and well.I am ready for a spoiler though on what the sequence is.I know that all paths ending in 3 and 2 are dead ends

Re: Code 7 Episode 1 Looking for testers

Well unless I am doing it the wrong way.I first start going up to 31, at which point I get a cutscene 2 we see the people and they become active.I jump after doodling round to 3343 53 at which point they get more active.32 is blocked, and I am pritty sure since I can't get there that 32 42 and 52 are my 3 cards I need to check to get the last scenes and finnish, there is 41 and 51 which are also blocked off.Its obvious that controling the cameras aint all, as during the run about the various offices I got a password to a terminal I have yet to encounter. So there is probably a secondary security system active and aware of me, but since that terminal is probably on its other side there isn't much I can do about it.I am unsure, but in ep0 there were 2 ways to kill the bot.I chose the easier way of sucking the air out of the room. Now if I knew what did what here and what to rotate and where as there are places I can and can't rotate, and its never the places I want to go to.Its a good maze and I can solve the first bit in fact I can easily get to 53 no trouble and almost to 41-51 but not quite, 341 and 51 may be a dead end but there is enough blocking me that there is probably something there I should look at maybe a jump to 52.but all blocks 32 42 and 52 are blocked so the exit must be in that reageon.I have spent 2 days on this.It was why I restarted today in fact in order to get at least half of the airlock mission completed which involved a lot of snooping about and getting information.I'd liken this camera maze to a mini boss.I wouldn't say it was impossible, there are 3 paths and it lets me complete the one that goes to a dead end and almost the other 1 to a point so it could be dead, however the middle path is the hard one.Its clear while playing this though and with the ease I can find things, me now an ai in my own right is used to controling devices and processing data rather than guiding people round a grid you can almost sence the aukwardness of a machine trying to guide a non machine about.Maybe its just me though.

Hi kevin.Ok, well I had to fiddle about but ok, code7 is on my computer. You can clear all those links the mega link worked for me.Now, where is documentation, ie where is there a list of shortcuts in the game ie keyboard control v is voice but the rest.As for things, finding codes, doodling with systems and mucking about yeah I like it.Now where did your inspiration for the game come from?Parts of this sound like systemshock 1 and 2 all of which I liked and played with friends. There are some elements and scenes from half life 1 in there to.The story of system shock 1 was similar, to this in a way.Humans make ai.Another one wants to fiddle about for his own ends so fiddles about where he shouldn't.The fiddler breaks the ai.The broken ai goes mad.Parts of ep0 remind me of a soap opera. No idea why your link you gave never worked I got up to 96-97% before you gave me that mega link but the download always reset it was downloading just fine.I've never had this happen on itch or humblebundle. Then again maybe its congestion on the net as a whole. With everyone off school, etc here in new zealand and christmas coming up well its really busy in town.I had to fight the traffic yesterday just to restock my nespresso machine.THe net is the same. For anyone interested I am going to try to do a podcast of this for probable release when the beta becomes full blown next week.Bar the keys it looks easy enough or rather close enough to release even now.Congratulations on making things run with unity like you have.As for tts voices, can't you have the system run the default voice in the windows at the moment.I have mine as a 32 bit voice right now.Sometimes it switches back to another voice.

Kevin.Sorry to say this, but I can't get your file.It runs to between 35-87% then crashes out and simply quits trying.I tried ie, the file downloaded and stopped. My other brouser waterfox which started the download got to 35% then simply quit trying to download and every time I tried download a 0 byte file there after.I resorted to getright, a program that while I own I havn't used in ages and ages. The file gets to round 90% and then just crashes out for some reason. And this is with nothing else being online as soon as I try to do something else the file simply stops all together.I have a vdsl connection with a 16-20mbps download speed, and I was getting between 200 and 600kbps download speed. Is there any way you could dropbox or give me a cloud or direct file link.If you can't then I will have to ask another tester for the file.Sorry but I have been online for an hour trying to get this.Every time it stops it restarts from the start. In desperation I remoted into a business i5 quadcore server I maintain for someone that has chrome on it.The file downloaded quite fast but round77% it crashed out even though the program tried to resume.Kevin, unless you can get your box to work for me and other testers or find another way for a stable download, then this aint worth our time. Its certainly not worth mine.I have now spent over 1.5 hours trying to get this game from your servers!I have now run out of time to even think of getting your file today.Tomorrow is monday, the only day where I devote fully to tests, hacks and any experimentation I will try what you have sent however if you can email me with a dropbox link or something which will not fail and that I can resume that will be fine.Has any other tester managed to get this file, I have tried on wireless and wired, the connection I have usually is fast, bar my box no other system bar the phone and printer are running and neither are being used right now.Its almost like the server just resets or times out as I have the speed.

Re: Accessible but Visually Appealing WordPress Themes

Hi n.cWell sorry about blowing my trumpet but as a wordpress blogger and tester, I am going to have to blow my trumpet on this one.Wordpress is a good blog platform. The normal theme 2011- whatever the latest is should be reasonably accessible also the ingegno theme is aparently ok I havn't really experimented with themes. However you are going to need zerospam and or zero press as well as impostaside plugins for spam as minimal. In addition the jetpack plugin even in its free non pro state is really good for monitoring. In addition on the blog I share with a few persons I have the following setupHigh Contrast AdminFor highcontrast viewing.Sociablefor twitter and other social network linking.SocialCrowd Favorite | twitter.Twitter ToolsWordPress Zero SpamEven if you minus the social network plugins and highcontrast viewers out of the picture, you will immediately want to have an automat
ic spam killer. In addition powerpress for podcasts, some sort of rss page, open xml google for podcast related stuff though this does make a large database file. And additionally some sort of logical captcha. If you don't want to go the captcha root, you may want to disable registration and manually add users if you don't, you will need some of logic or other captcha for user registration or something there is a lot of spam out there.I found this out a bit to late, at first aggressive captchas were used but by then ofcause there was and still is a major spam user load in the database, and after a few security and hacks of the site it was decided to just disable registration.Out of the list of what I have wordpress zerospam and jetpack are minimal. As for theme use the standard one.

Re: Accessible Forum Software Packages

Hmmm. When sonnar did a forum we don't currently, we used pun bb, however we found it not really secure, to much spam, out of date and generally crappy! We tried other forum packages but they didn't work so well.Eventually we decided to chuck it in and put all our stuff up here.Pun bb is good but we need more than 1 package because relying on 1 is not always the best.On the wordpress forum side, you're in luck.I don't use forums on wordpress but I am one of the testers on the test dev team, I have just sent them this thread by email, and maybe if we can prove this we can add this to the schedual for the next big wordpress update. We are going to be releasing new stuff with wordpress later, namely the gutinberg editor, which should be out at the end of the year.Access wize there are still a few kinks and for myself I'd prefur we kept the editor we have now but the word from on high is that gutinberg is replacing
the old editor weather we like it or not so we better get used to it.With this in mind a lot of work is being done testing serveying and getting everything ready. So the fact this thing came up at this time is probably going to factor into the next updates.

Well, you would need some testers eventually.I'd be happy to be one and maybe some promoters I do do the odd bit of work for sonnar, and I could also do with more projects. But you would need this 3d like, so you would need someone that could do c++ or something not bgt, not visual basic, and you would need graphics and such if you wanted to make it accessible to everyone. Its a large undertaking, I am not a programmer but if I was I would take the challenge.

Re: how can i start my own streeming website?

Well.It all depends. If all you want is a sort of podcast which is what I suspect you want.Have a blog with wordpress, and powerpress.Have an rss with the cast, then people can go to that and download the files.Failing that you can have a directory with all the files in it and just let people download whatever they want.If you want to stream you will need some encoders like sam, shoutcast or something, oddcast or something. You need to decide what to stream in.Most people should get mp3 streams, you will need a dialup 24 bit, mono stream and maybe a 48kbit stream stereo for mobile phone users. And whatever your standard streaming bitrate is, most have 96kbps, then your stream at 192 or there abouts.mp3 can go to 320kbps at any rate.Others do stream in ogg, but not everyone supports ogg most do and its popular that goes to 500kbps but remember not everyone has massive download caps and bandwidth. Finally if you don
't really care you can use flac. Not every player supports it and while it is definitly a nice sound its really chunky. Most users use m3u playlists those are recognised by amost every media player.I have seen people stream in aac but its not generally what is done.A lot stream in mp3 and or ogg.Failing that, there is always windows audio.Be aware though the lower bitrate audio tends to carry a digital signal and not many use that. Finally there is real audio but not many stream with this, it can make small file sizes thougyh but not everyone can play that.

Re: Sighted Gamer/Dev, trying to get how best to present spatial data

Hi.aah a newbyWell first there are a lot of libraries that can handle your screen reader. One such is tolque which is opensource. There are others some written by others here I forgot their names. These handle the most popular screen readers, jaws, window eyes, supernova dolphin and non visual desktop access, nvda as well as sapi interfaces. It may be better for you to directly interface with one of these libraries for screen reader control, so you don't have to spend time busting your gut with every interface.Ofcause depending on what it is you can go the entire hog with full voice guidence via recorded files which will increase your game size a lot.As long as you can support 2 or 3d audio with sounds from directions, music to sute moods and changes as well as sounds for events and the like well thats about it.Some way to locate objects, and some way  to locate walls where needed as well as target. Some older games
had target beeps but there are a lot of things you can do with panning and the like.We can and have got a lot of actual audio games with the right environment we can make complex games.I am not sure of roge likes but if you go to mush-z.com for example and download and install the sound pack then rummage through the folders there is music for every battle, condition, movement environment and the like. There are event sounds and the like.Look at some of the oldergames on gmagames.com, some of the japanese games with sounds, then look at audiogamehub at audiogamehub.comSorry users I shouldn't plug myself but I kinda work for a company now so yeah.Look at eurofly, finally look at either kitchensinc.net, or spoonbill software and agarchive.net for audio games. Finally look at ffproject.com and choiceofgames.com, for text stuff. And if that is not enough there are all the old text adventure languages and then there are the newer ones like
twine, which you can make using their site or via download of it so there you go.I hope that helps you some.

Hi.Well with hacking, I  am unsure how it can be done.So I will just say how we did it with realitysoftware at least when I was in it.The keys arros were mapped to various tones, you had to select the right one and then if it worked it was fine, if it failed you would have to put the right one in to pass.Another thing, have you looked at the crazyparty game thread, The link to that is at http://pragmapragma.free.fr/crazy-partyAnyway there are worlds saturated with minigames. How I'd imagine with the stealth games is move bbetwene 2 points with a sound for each point and sounds for the enemy units. You could crouch or something while stopped so you wouldn't be seen however move at the wrong time and you would be toast.Mind you if there were not that many enemies and you had the stats you could fight through arieas to get extras though you could die, things
like that.I have just got your game so I will doodle with it.and see.If you are testing this stuff though maybe I could help depending on the timeframe.I am full of contracts through the month of november, and I usually take a 4 month break over the summer because of the heat, however if I have a contract list to process after november then thats fine.Sadly I do have a few commitments I need to handle in january and february that will reduce my opperating hours a bit, but these would only be down to a couple weeks at most in those months. On the other hand if you need me now, I can add your request to the large cue of projects.I am able to do that because most projects I have are small, 6 hours or so of small projects, 1 large one well medium one, and maybe another actual project still I always have room.Email me off forum by clicking my email link or looking up crashmaster in my profile and tell me your requirements and we can probably
work out some sort of deal. From the structure of the game I guess this is unity, you will be limited to fully voiced things and actual sounds, there is no sapi or screen reader support with unity however being its fully voiced that shouldn't be a problem.I am assuming you can choose a command from a list or something as you go.I will look at the normal game anyway and see.[edit]I just looked at the game. There is no voicing in menus and after I heard the logo I didn't know what to do, as I had no feadback at all.Nice music and the trailer is nice.

Re: Audiogame Jam Announcement

Hi james.Well hmmm so msse is just being a total clod thats good to know.Msse really has issues with a lot of files saying they are a virus when other stuff just doesn't.Hmmm the countdown game I may try, maybe, but if its not worth it well.I never got twinkle working, and as for the walk in the forrest the only game with x86 code, I found it quite boring once I mastered the entire thing. My issue is the complete and utter simplicity of the games.Granted the games had to be made in short order, however, even for the experimental games in the audiogames archives these were of less value than that.I'd really like to play the games that were 64 bit only on my x86 machine just because.I really hope more stuff was released, and I hope you didn't think of my feadback to harsh earlier.I just didn't expect something of this low quality.I guess this is what the general mortal sighted population think us blind pe
ople can deal with.In a way thats good to know that we still have a lot of things to do.If anything it shows how much the sighted need to go with audio and the advantage we have over the sightlings. While they have their graphics we control sound maybe in some ways over what the sighted concidder worth their  time.At least for the small fish. That is good to know.It also shows that at least the sighted have some if only slight interest in the blind and that those that have programmed before are willing to have a whack.I really hope more jams are better. The only thing I regret is that we didn't have one of the small time devs who are blind put out a decent game on the jam, maybe not a major block buster but something that shows the sightlings what we can and can not do.Bar graphics ofcause we have mastered 3d audio and positioning, multiplayer to a certain extent, arcade, card, and various types of games, including puzzle
and strategy types, as well as using good sfx and voices. The only other issue I did have with a game is that the readme stated it needed steam and a vr something or rather. If it can be put, those that program for the blind should remember we won't have the latest tech, we don't need it.The 2gb video card maybe benificial for screenreaders, 4-8gb may be fine to, and a good cpu, but it is doubtfull we will have the latest screenreader or os all the time. And we tend to run older systems rather than the newer ones or replace things when they break etc.Ie my wrig now is an i5 duelcore,  the unit was allready ancient when I got it.It was a store demo model it was that old.6 months after I got it, all driver and support for it stopped and the bios stopped updating it was so old.I updated it because my previous unit died. With family retired, there is a good chance that when this dies, I may get another just like it or olde
r.The blind do not need the latest hardware, they need enough so they can control their lives and enough to run them.Much as we would like it we can't get or can see any reason to get a system powerfull enough to nuke the earth and start our own empire of the stars.Yes we may get some of it but if we do the generation will never be the latest either. One thing I'd really like to see, are games that use other languages.I am unsure if it can be excluded, but I'd like to get people to make games in other languages bar unity since it seems all the games are either flash or unity based.I'd really like other accessibility solutions tried.Unity doesn't have as I understand it the libraries for access unless its all recorded.I know java has some access, however most games are python/ visual studio c# and other programming languages.Thing is, This competition may as well be the audiogame jam using unity ownly compe
tition.I'd like people to try other interfaces.Another fact, unity is not usable by us blind people generally.

eeps in it and another was click the left and right mouse button to do things. The plot sucked and it may be a kids game but not really usefull.I guess if you were one of those poor helpless blind people that are all over the place according to sightlings this would be nice. However we gamers some of us hardcore are not the poor helpless kind though we are blind. So as a result, this jam was nice as an idea, but um try harder please?Or maybe just don't even bother if this is all that can be out I don't know.Does anyone else that turned off their antivirus software and tried it on an x64 bit unit agree with me.I could be right off my microchips because I am the only poster and the comp should be finnished by now.

Re: Oriol Gómez bgt contest: One day, one hit

Hi.Hmmm I agree on the judging.I'd actually like to keep it via email myself. However I see no reason for those that can make it, to stream judging on teamtalk or something and somehow broadcast it.The issue is that my afternoon is the night in america, so you may get people in the us and europe doing the stream more than say those of us in australia. The primary conference stuff for nvda is based in coria and that means that any planning meats and a few other things unless they get planned right and some of them are but some are not I can actually find hard to get into.Email means I can be flexible.I however would like a way for someone or something to be able to write something worth judging. As a member of the jury I found it hard to judge the games. Most of them didn't give me much to work on.For example the redsword game would have worked but I had issues jumping the platforms and while yes I found an enemy, I never was able to get to attack it though the sfx were good which was why I scored so low.The capitals game was remotely interesting, but only in an educational standpoint. The hammer glory game, well was quite good, but it was probably more that oriol wrote the game than the actual gameplay itself. As for the one that didn't make it the basket game, I couldn't even make a single basket and while it was good as a concept it was really boring. To be honest though now we have the renpy engine I'd like to see a judgement on that.I mean players of such books have seen how with a good plot, good story, and the right accessability and different plot arcs at the right points can see how things can be.It could be as advanced as the colony defence game by winterwolves which although is not fully accessible is accessible enough to show off the potential for the engine at its fullest extent, right back to the blue rose, and sarafina series with some visual and non visual mechanics.Back to games with just stories and simple text battles.I think its worth persuing. One thing about renpy though, your story needs to be good in fact your story should become just ahead of accessibility.I have brought 1 game and played many free ones that while accessible had shallow plots, few arc choices and or little playability.True the big ones you may have to pay for and fine I'll pay 20 bucks for a good book which is what the high grade stuff cost. And while a few are experimentals renpy could be the next interactive fiction maybe. The next and overlooked scripting language is choicescript.Sadly most of their comercial programs are on steam now which is hwere some renpy games have gone and those that are not do not support paypal.Still there are free full titles which are still good.Like renpy the choicescript language is free and is just basic html with extras in it.Its possible with this to create branching arcs, battles, different choices, and the like all in text. Its also possible to include sounds and music though I wouldn't want that to override the screen reader though. So there are plenty of scripting languages bar bgt to judge with.Python, the language that handles nvda is actually a stable engine.I mean a screen reader with its modules is quite a complex program, and its testiment to this that python lends itself to this.So there is certainly plenty of things to base on.I do hope that as well as single 1 hits for beginners we could have advanced and intermediate competitions allowing for more advanced languages to be used, ie c.While sonaa is still developing it, there is potnetial to use xml as a language for games, I am not sure how but it can be used as such. There are a few issues with sdl and xml crashing I have noticed on my system testing games in that and sadly unless its fixed there is issues on dotnet and xml.Another engine potentially available to us is actually the tactical battle engine. While its maps and such you would have no issue writing things for it.There is swamp and soundrts to, for game maps and others.

Re: Oriol Gómez bgt contest: One day, one hit

Hi.Well interesting lot of things.I am not oriol but I personally wouldn't have any issue with a game written in any language as well as certain scripting languages.bgt is a good beginner language but any anual comp would be fine.Ofcause it would have to be accessible, what is stopping us from having longer times to have larger competitions it would be something to do and certainly something I'd be happy to do jury or judging for I mean there is the interactive fiction ones.Saying this, while the 1 day script is something that the gaming community does I am not sure what one could put out in a day, there is a limit and its a challenge. On the other side, so far I havn't found anything thats really had the lets go crazy and buy the expantion pack for it.The 1 day things for start game coders is cool but maybe we need to have something which is a month or 2 long.Ie you have a month to make something would be more fair.I am not sure what the big competitions allow for, but it would be a great go at bringing other developers into the fold.Especially if it was not language spaciffic.Especially if it was dumped outside this forum, ie sighted game developers and independant small companies. It would certainly bring up the interest of the industry.Eventually I'd like the big companies to get involved with prizes or with submittions then have some ranking system and scoring system, code battles maybe.Prizes and cash sponsors and such. Its a nice idea, and I know its the first thing but even so.Scripting languages are the easiest thing to handle for competitions.so bgt, python, renpy maybe.Visual studio maybe, then c and so on.

Re: Feedback on voiced Visual Novel "SOON"

Well.Planet stronghold and some of the others are not accessible because they use a custom rpg extender which is not accessible at all.Th latest one works but several things in the visual novel for char selection don't work.Worse, the battle system is just not something that works, some of the stats bars work but thats it.The visual novel with the side missions is still worth the 19 dollars us, taking me about 4 days to play it all and thats on one story arc.Out of all of these games I have that works this would have to be up there with bluerose. The other games that come close are the sarafina series though sarafina 2 has an inaccessible dial debate system you only need the first number down or the highest number up so its not that bad.Discouraged workers is accessible but it has 0 replay value in fact while I enjoyed the story 15 bucks was a bit steep.Sadly I got about 10 novels at the start of the week and I started playing th
em.While a few, ie cult of the dead, idealis pallice and children of the gate were interesting titles, their stories were either comic like and or just simply had shitty plots which is a shame.I seriously am wandering that maybe renpy is the next move to make a fully sighted user and a blind user interact. The only things you need are alt text and labeled buttons. You can't use steam or custom rpg or other rpg extentions and you can't use images for everything or customised image controls.Remembering sound that plays and buttons for sound will tend to block out sapy overriding it.With being said, there are a lot of good books out there either once over like the unknowns or other playthrough.Sadly most of them are free or just suck but still there is more chance making renpy books accessible for both sighted than disabled than other games since not much needs to be done about it.I'd like the card system to be accessible but
with at least 4 options for side missions 2 options per mission, pluss the main story with 3 way arcs and sub arcs off the main arc including destruction of things, and the fact that doing or not doing certain events can totally fudge up your life I think its still worth it even if the battle system is a pile of junk.I'd like it ofcause but its not needed

Hi.well looked at that program spiral and well ok my views. The abby one was accessable but is not a game I generally play it got so boring so fast I guess if you like the old shakespear type times which I don't it would be good.Next soon.Ok, [[wow]], that was really well it would be cool if I could ever win the game!I went with my evilness and failed.I went with trying to change me to be a nice guy, set the entire thing, set the bomb.Pulled back, got the robots finding out about it and well  destructed. If there was a way to actually smash the machine or in fact actually win, I'd actually keep the game.Sadly I have no interested in a circular time line where it all means zip.It was an interesting spin on a what if but as far as I care I have played it to its conclusion was the main guy even supposed to win, because it looks like in the end everything just didn't worked out.The only way that it wor
ked was the earth being destroyed which would mean you won but didn't but won anyway. Its an interesting take on ai though. My theory is that everything is in logical terms, computers can never think of it not being that way because you would have to have binary backward or something, so 1 before 0 probably would destroy all computers in existance. So in the end everything is changed, and then isn't.So this game is no longer on my hard drive.

Re: crashlib my new sound library

Hi defender. Thanks for the comments.Sadly I don't have the cash to get propper portable mics right now or actually know what I should be getting and how to use them what I should be getting etc.The recorders I have used are soni things, yes there are better field recorders but sadly the price range, then again I only know about the olympus units and they can be expensive over here.700 dollars for a unit I may only occasionally use especially with dad retiring mid year from the company where I got the modern stuff from.In the case of talking, sorry about that I tried to get the best parts of the files and tried to record loops, the technitions were in some of the rooms and sadly there was talk, I think I got over most of that, and the noises are so loud it probably doesn't matter. On their own the loops really are not much they need to be mixed really and while I could do that I do have goldwave audacity etc I just thought I'd put o
ut the files.THe geto sfx were files I was sitting on for a while released on an ancient low bitrate recorder. The soni units cost half the cost of the olympus units.HOwever to be honest I have never been fully happy with using soni as a recorder but full access costs and I really can't afford the unit.I do have mics external logitech ones etc and a philips unit I pulled from another unit that due to its visual ability didn't work but I have no idea how to mount its cheap clip.If there was a way to have a portable unit that could record ambient noise as well as my voice that would rock I know you can attach things to glasses and the like and have a thing going to the recorder's mic jack but if I did get something I'd need something that wouldn't cost more than 100-150 bucks and that I could use. While I do record things most things are not on location with field recorders and while I have lots of other sfx I could use, ie th
e sound ofboats its all mixed in with my diary stuff and in long files and I have not got up to the point where I could clear things, removing vocal tracks etc I have never gone over basic editing with goldwave and have  basic knowledge to make my stuff work. Some of the sfx have been mucking round for ages.As for licencing, I don't know, the last time I put things out they just went all over the net never mind that I did use them.Sadly sound sharing no matter what it is is probably going to continue, I even do it so I am not a saint either. In fact before I did my own I did a lot of sharing sfx.Its only now a lot of stuff is incripted to the point its not worth the time and trouble I don't bother anymore.I have no idea how to get past the handling of the recorder I can't remotely turn it off.The loops will be shorter, I'd imagine they would be mixes of them in one or 2 bunches. However I really can't stand r
ound recording a loop for 10 minutes a loop, in most cases I had 30 seconds to a minute to record a few loops a time and had to try to do the best I could so its from a me prospective. If I wanted to go deeper into that, I'd really like to record loops of 5 minutes or so so at least I would know they were long enough. However I was constrained by time and the fact my dad did not have his passcard working right. If there is enough interest I can try again later this year but its at least 1.5 hours out from the house so.As for other recordings if there is a way to remove voice and not have the sound quality reduced like I have had heard on some music with vocals added in and stuff pulled out then I may try it.You will probably loose about 5 seconds per recording of start stop on the recorder.you may only get 4-10 seconds of loops now if there is a way to loop the loop but make it so you don't hear the looped section then maybe I can make it l
ike that but whenever I have tried you hear the sound cutout and the loop start on a noticeable level or at least I know when stuff loops. On a visual basis the old sx software was the best the new soni software just does not work so what you see is what you get quality wise though its better than the older units.Saying that if you have suggestions on what to get and where and if it doesn't cost to much I may try to get something sorted. One thing I have tried recording environmental sfx but wind gets in the way with the stereo mics. Each recorder has a different mic.I know people that wear mics on their glasses and that may be the option though to be honest, I really do not want to look like a terrorist when I record if I can help it.

Re: crashlib my new sound library

Yeah its a bit small for an actual library. The getto sfx are lower quality because they were made with a lower grade recorder. The modern stuff was made on location with a newer unit though by today's standards is still old.The modern stuff was made on location the other stuff well was also made on location but the quality and stuff sadly was not the best. The modem was a direct cut from an actual modem.I really don't come accross to record ambiences or anything spaciffic, fact is you can almost get most things. The modern sfx stuff started out because every youtube video of a transmitter tour had bad quality or just didn't work for me.For the battery room it was a room with ups racks and fans. The general transmittion room was a room with a couple transmittion units. The linking room had computers and such in it.The big scary recordings of transmitters had me first in front of the fan filters and the second amo
ngst the transmittion racks.Sadly the station has got smaller than it used to be, as a lot of the radio stuff is somewhere else I can't get access to, and before there was a monitering centre with computers and a control room which I never recorded. There were also a few more rooms with stuff in them I never recorded at all.Now without the noisy analog tv units things are mostly fans now. However one of the things I did do when I was first there was being allowed to fiddle with an inactive black and white transmitter control board that was going to a museum.I never thought to get recordings of it and in fact back then 1996 I think it was, I didn't even have a good recorder unit or the thought I should record things. The modern sfx are best quietened down and combined with other sfx to make real sounds by themselves they are not much.

crashlib my new sound library

Hi all.thought I'd share some sfx I have been sitting on for a number of years.https://www.dropbox.com/s/xubqdy62mm9vk … b.zip?dl=1These sounds are not as good as some of you but I hope you at least get enjoyment.A lot of this stuff is recorded on location. There are 2 folders getto sfx and modern ambience. The modern folder was recorded with a better quality recorder my second a ux60 the other an sx35 did the rest. All are sony.I have a family member with access to tv transmitters and I was able to record a lot of ambience of rooms, fans and the like in front amongst and around the actual units.I have also recorded an old mx5 sport car traveling over bumpy road with a hood up and down. The rest of the stuff are a mix of old stuff I recorded while I was in australia. Most came from my first trip in melbourne one from darwin. There is a bird recording recorded from a kitchen window there is also door knobs and locks, sash windows going up and down, a roman blind, various bolts and such for the windows, knocking on brick, a switch clicking at the end of a recording and wind that happened to be in the car at the right spot. Most recordings were done in the morning at least the holiday ones were. The transmitter ones bar the traveling ones were done in the late morning/ early afternoon. As was one of the traveling segments the other was in the afternoon. The modem was done on the off chance on an old xp system that has since had its net pulled as it was unsafe and not used for a time.Note, quality of these are as is.No garantees etc.Licence.The getto sfx doesn't have one, quality is variable at best. You may or may not be able to use them they were my first projects after all and I couldn't say the random switch and modem was exactly mine. The modern stuff  though was recorded wwith a lot of effort on my part trying to find the right files without to much noise. There were technitions on some of those so they are not clean. If you need clean recordings, I need to know before june this year because after that I will not have access at all anymore due to the person  leaving due to age. Also while I realise I can't exactly charge for this stuff it not really being mine etc, I ask those of you that care that actually use my sfx to give me credit, either email me with what you are using or how much you like the sfx.Or at least give me credit.I don't mind my stuff being used as such however  the last time I sent some stuff off to a developer it went all over the net.I don't mind blinks pirating my sfx, even though I really should. However its extremely rood that no one asked me before doing so.Even though I did play the games they appeared in and enjoyed them I'd really like it if I was contacted and told what stuff was used for.And if you want more. Its 10mb, but if this ever got to a point where I had field recordings of things I'd probably need some cash or something. Now I perfectly understand if you don't have cash.you may give me what you wish even if its just a mail.thanks

Re: I'm blind and want to develop a very complex game

HiIts good to have a new guy round.I am one of the designers for reality gaming, I am not sure about state of projects but I know we will be able to help where ever needed.I have a lot of sfx if I could have access to your novel series I may be able to help nmore. We use purebasic as one of the languages and a few other things.we have a 3d engine and a few other things.purebasic does cost though, if you need any help I can try, my finances are not that much either but I am willing to fund bits of stuff, languages, and other stuff as long as its not to expensive.if you are wanting a gamebook the choiceofgames engine is good.also the language at ffproject.com is good but I have no idea how to get that, maybe by contacting the author. The advantage of fighting fantasy language is that it does all the automated dice rolls for you.
