After a minute or so it should say that loading failed, but even that never happens. Could you try and run the web demo and see if that works on your device? Ugh, I wish I understood this Test Flight system. The game is out in public beta, which should mean that anybody can join up using that link. If I had a code I would share it, but all I have is that link. I did get an email saying that the 4.3 is now approved on beta (lol), so perhaps... there's a way to update the game now?Otherwise I would suggest to uninstall the game and install it again, but that means you'd lose all your data.

New update released on iOS: 4.3! This one adds more functionality to the undo feature, by allowing you to undo an entire day. That means a complete battle, a river swim, shopping spree, or whatever. Also, the amount of undos in the bundles is increased. And the undo tab is reordered, so that the buttons that matter are higher up. Thank you guys for suggesting all this. I hope you find it useful. Also, I fixed the bug mentioned by Apostolos.@Apostolos, I think selling your ring early on isn't the best tactic. The idea is that you gain a lot of treasure, allowing you to buy whatever you need at the merchants. Maybe not so much at the first merchant, but more so in the ones that follow. Thanks for spreading the word on the Greek forums, I appreciate that!@Ben, that's weird, 4.2 is out for a week now. I suspect then that test flight users are not updated to versions released on production... That's strange, to put it mildly, but I'll go and release the latest version to test flight as well. It should order the mushrooms by name. I'll look into it, thanks!3. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the undo feature. Unfortunately, it's not yet performing great, money wise. I do see a rise in positive reviews, so I suppose more people play and enjoy the game now that it's free, which is what I wanted. Perhaps as the users increase, the profits will too, but that's to be seen. About rewinding a fight: I understand that's a bit troublesome, but at the same time it's also not really the intention of the undo feature. If you have to undo too many steps, it might be a better idea to accept your fate and restart the game. Still, I like your idea and will consider it. Also, I will have a look at the undo tab and see how I can improve it. About the ordering of the buttons; this is where visual and non-visual interface collide sometimes. Visually, it looks better in the current setup, because the button is shown as an icon. I want to add a screen-reader mode to the game at some point, which should fix these kind of issues, but I'm afraid that won't be very soon.4. Like Ben described, it depends on your situation, so try to make the best decision based on your current stats and inventory.5. I'm afraid this is another case of the visual presentation clashing with the voice-over. I changed it recently in a reaction to some feedback, so that the progress is placed between parentheses. Because of how icons are described, the voice-over thinks the text is multiple sentences, thus the weird pronunciation. There's no quick fix for this at the moment; sorry!Ben, I'm super happy people appreciate the work I put into it; it's a great motivation. About the enchantment weapons bug, I tried to reproduce it by making every weapon enchanted, but in every case it worked like it should. I have no idea what went wrong during your run. Yes, there are some cheats with the undo system, but it requires a bit of creativity.What you describe sounds like a bug. Enchanted weapons should just add up. The only thing that is on purpose is that when you have a cursed weapon, a stat will never drop below 0. So when you improve that stat it might appear to not have changed, but in fact it went up from -1 to 0. I'll investigate the double enchanted weapon scenario.

Yes, that would be a good idea. Also great for dungeons, where you can return to the same room and pick up your old weapon. I'll add it to the list I have improved the Undo function so that certain choices are free.Also, there's a new character! The Ring Bearer, wearing the Ring of Death. It's even harder than Thief, and, to be honest, I haven't been able to complete the game with it. Curious to find out if others can The update is submitted to Android and iOS beta. But, that's actually a feature  The idea is that the smoke confuses the enemy, causing it to abandon its attempt to flee.@KenshiraTheTrinity, thanks for checking out the undo feature! I understand the desire to undo bigger steps. First, I think I'll remove some of the non-choices from the undo list, like when you have to press continue after a fight. I'm afraid that bigger steps will introduce new kind of problems and unwanted scenarios. For example, after a successful battle, you want to undo dropping the wrong weapon. In that case you don't want to have to fight the monster all over again.A counter for the Undos on the button would be a great improvement indeed, I'll see if I can add that.I'm trying to get the new version released to iOS beta as well, but man, does Apple make it difficult. It's approved for production, but still not for beta... So, yeah, it's going to take another day, I guess.

Thanks for all the insights, Ben! The undo function works exactly like you described: it doesn't allow to 'retry' the same move, for that will always render the same outcome. The undo function is there mainly to undo a mistake, either because of pressing the wrong button, or because of something game-related. Like, you forgot being poisoned and died, with an Elixer in your pack. It's not a great cheating device, and that's actually what I like about it. Still, there are some possibilities, like trying to dodge, fail, undo, and then block. Whether people will be ready to pay for it is the big question. I hope so, but if not, that's OK too. At least then the game is free to play for all.I'm currently in the process of releasing the undo feature to beta. Android is done; iOS will follow soon. Please let me know what you guys think.

@Mitch, don't worry, I'll make sure my early supporters are well treated when it comes to the undo system @Ben, sorry you have to redo the guide  About the tasks, the first task is always level 3 stat, 150 treasure, or an elixir. Then the second task is always poisoned, low life, or breaking weapon. I do agree that being poisoned and having low life are the hardest tasks. The idea with both of them is that mushrooms should play a role here, but of course you have to have them in the first place.@imaginingstuff, glad you like it!

Sorry guys, something went wrong with the beta release on iOS. It's actually an older version that's being served right now. I assumed Apple wouldn't need to review a release to beta (silly me). Then, I tried to get it reviewed and found out that the requirements changed, so I need to make additional changes. Will probably take a few days.When updating to a new version, beta or not, your scores and unlocked character will remain, only the current game that you're playing will be lost.Thanks all for your input concerning the resurrection feature!

@EternalGamer, you're right about the Ring of Mana, I broke it in the 3.2 release. It now holds off the enemy whatever you do, not just when casting spells. I'm fixing it now and will release a patch soon. That said... if anybody was struggling to finish on Mage, now's your chance Something else, I've been receiving complaints from people saying they finished the game but didn't get the next character unlocked. I can't reproduce it here myself. Did any of you guys experienced something like this?

@Mitch, I can see your point, it gets a bit boring to find the same gear over and over again. I was actually thinking about adding a load more of those equipment items and preserve special inventory slots for them, like "head", "torso", and "legs". And then you would have Dwarf gear for defense, Orc gear for attack, and Elven gear for speed. But... I never got around adding it I've just released a new version of the game to Android, which fixes the bugs reported by Ben and some other, minor things. iOS will follow soon!

I thought about giving the gnome ability to detect magic on a weapon, but decided against it because I want to leave that open for maybe another item or spell in the future.The Ring of Brawn only kicks in when your attack isn't dodged, so even when it's charged, an enemy can still dodge the attack.Lol @ the merchant and the key, hadn't thought about that one, but it's funny! About the other weird combo's, it's kind of intended silliness

Hi guys, I just have to to say: it's absolutely thrilling to read all your comments and experiences with the game. I'm reading about tactics I'd never thought about myself, it's wonderful. Thank you all for sharing!Now, about some of the comments (I'm bound to miss a few, so sorry for that). The Orc Cuffs are still there, only I renamed them to Spiked Orc Collar, or something. The Ring of Brawn is only charged and activated when an attack is not dodged by the enemy, which is perfectly possible. The Ring of Magic works indeed as Ben describes, and should (I just realize I haven't actually tested this) allow you to cast spells repeatedly at a fleeing enemy, even the end boss. Now that we're talking rings, a small tip for the Ring of Stealth: if you time it correctly, it will also activate when you flee, granting an unharmed flee. The other things mentioned seem to be a matter of coincidence.Ben, about the crystal quest, I like your suggestion about enchanting a weapon as a reward for something like a sidequest. I'll keep that thought in my mind and let it mature a bit. At the same time, I don't think I'll put the crown caves back, because I hated it being so similar to normal dungeons. I believe the Queen's tasks really add a lot more to the game than the caves.

Thanks for explaining, Ben. I think more sidequests, and generally more paths, would be cool, but at the same time I'm not sure if the game's linear setup allows for much of that. I'm more and more considering to save those kind of ideas for another game, which would have more freedom, so going on quests would feel more natural.Anyway, thanks for the feedback, and those bugs you reported are fixed and should be released soon.

Thanks all for trying the new content and I'm happy you like it so far!@Ben, thanks for the bug reports. I have found the problems and will fix it soon. The bare handed attack was always disabled when you carry 4 attack weapons; it's a little penalty for wearing so many weapons. You should still be able to kill demons with your bare hands, that hasn't changed. There's no such thing as speeding gloves, but I like the idea! You're right about the allergic reaction when returning to the mushrooms. I only released this too late, but yeah, there should be a way around it.Finally, surprised to hear you don't like the tasks for the Magic Crystals. Of course, the crystal is just a rename of the crown, but other than that I'm kinda pleased with this new change. I think it adds another layer of complexity to the gameplay. Before, the caves were just another dungeon, of which there were (and still are) so many already. Now, you have this little side-quest that requires you to make strange new choices, like will you cure poison now, or carry on poisoned to enter the next cave; and, will you buy new things at the merchant, or save up the treasure for the next cave, etc. It's true you're missing some XP, but the fleeing and one-strike-kills changes should compensate this.

Hi Ben!About the xp, I like the progression you draw there, but I'm afraid it would be a little too subtle for players to notice. I like the xp exception for the Warrior because it is explained clearly by his character. Also, fleeing is now more expensive in that you won't be able to block or dodge it, so receiving 1 xp for managing to do it is a good reward. As a side note, there's now also a consumable item that allows you to flee unhurt; the stink bomb.Yes, the megadeath weapon can be found like other artifact weapons. Nice you find another ring during your quest, that's indeed quite rare! And congrats on beating the dragon in the second round. It was actually designed that way, to leave that option open, and in the new update I made it a little easier to do that, but it still requires some clever tricks.And I like the achievements ideas! It's a cool way to add more replayability, but it will take a bit of time to make, I think.I've been playtesting the new version for 2 days now and I think it's a good improvement. I expect to release it any day now. Will let you know of course

The "end main" happens because I wrapped the text and buttons inside a main tag. I thought it might help, but if there's no benefit and just being annoying, I'll remove it again. Anybody against this?The new weapon is very powerful, 25 to 30, with a good speed, so I think sacking an inventory slot might just be worth it. But I still have to play-test it.Considering the finding dynamic, I'm experimenting with a new setup where you don't find any weapons as dungeon rewards anymore, except for the artifact ones. Instead you loot them or buy them. At the same time experience for fleeing is 1, and on the path you can escape an encounter by throwing away some treasure. All in all, I hope it means there'll be less meaningless fights and more tension as to what reward is worth entering a dungeon for. Still have to play-test this all, though.

Whatever you decide, I'll follow up, it's not much work either way.About the swiping through certain descriptions; I know this is the case and I understand the frustration. It's the result of the fact that I made this game with sighted users in mind in the first place. Wherever the screen reader says 'attack' or 'life' or something, there is in fact an icon displaying that stat. It was thanks to KenshiraTheTrinity that I learned that the game was fairly playable with a screen reader, except for the icons. I fixed that by adding alternative texts for the icons, but unfortunately, screen readers interpret that as a separate piece of text, hence the extra swipe.The best way to fix that would be to add something like a visually impaired mode into the game, which would change a whole bunch of things and just render the text as one piece. I could then also implement live regions and stuff like that. It's definitely something I want to do, but currently I cant spare the time.@Ben, I'm likely to follow up on your ideas about XP. For the Assassin I have another weapon in mind to start with; a highly powerful one, but with a very low durability - probably only one. Challenge is to keep the weapon all the way to the end boss and use it here. Could be a fun variation. About the pressure plate, I'm playing with some ideas for new dungeon content and having some kind of optional treasure vs risk trap is definitely an option. Right now when you return to treasure inside a dungeon there's about 1/3 of a chance there's more treasure there, same is true for dark rooms with treasure. Finally, about the spells. I've already got 2 new spells that deal damage; one cant be blocked, the other cant be dodged.@EternalGamer, I don't know, in fact. It would be interesting to experiment with that, but I think that also would be part of adding this visually impaired mode to the game. And I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the game

Like for example https://www.wikia.com/? That's a kind of wikipedia where fans of games put up all the info they gather about a certain game, for other players to find and extend on it. I think it would be appreciated by a lot of other Path of Adventure players. Also, you could organize the guide over multiple pages, like weapons, items, mushrooms, spells, etc.

Ben, I'm seriously honored for the guide you wrote about Path of Adventure. It's an absolute delight to read (at least for me) and had me LOL a few times. Thanks so much for this! I found 2 minor points:- After 6 elixers the required xp stays at 20- Burned webs will still be burned when returning to them, but not when you hacked them.Also, the upcoming update will chance some of this, but I expect you'll be the first to find out what exactly The xp penalty for killing a monster in one blow is definitely going out for the Warrior. Not sure yet about the rogue. Keep the ideas coming, I'll save them up for the update and release everything in one go.

Not even an emulator will run this?I suspect the "end main" quote comes from the fact that I wrap the story part of the screen in  tags. Now that was a weird bug, but it's fixed.While I was at it, I also improved the stats, finally! It will now read a stat in 1 sentence, so no need for additional swiping. Finally, I had a go at the live regions, but I didn't like the result, though. It would read things automatically, but not in the right order. I suspect because of animations. Ok, I can reproduce it here too. I suspect it's the ARIA attribute that I use to inform that the toggle buttons are indeed toggle buttons. Will try that tomorrow and send out an update asap.Also, I learned something about talkback, or my phone, at least. In android, I double tap a button to activate it, but in the game I have to tap it once with 2 fingers. Does anybody else have that too, or is that normal? Another thing, the swiping gestures seem te be working the other way around. Left is next, right is previous.

@Dark, excellent feedback. I'm going to explain the temporary effect somewhere. I'm also thinking about adding a certain character early in the game that gives you tips, about all kinds of things. Or perhaps spread them out over multiple characters. Also, it's great to read how you discover and enjoy those core mechanics of the game. I put a lot of effort into getting those kind of things right and I'm glad it's being appreciated @109, thanks for that explanation! It makes total sense now. Really, this kind of inside info is very helpful.About the difficulty, I agree with you guys, and I enjoy the challenge too. But, I've got to consider other types of players as well. For one, because they're leaving really bad reviews, haha. Plus, there are 5 difficulties, and I won't be changing the higher ones, so there will be enough of a challenge left.@111 Yes! I was just thinking about something like that, the resurrect artifact, I mean. In fact, I was thinking to maybe hand them out on game over, so the player can save them up and use them whenever he dies next time. This could be a nice combo with the progress topic that Honk posted a video about, a while ago. I have to work out the details, though, to prevent grinding.About new adventures, I'm not planning on actually adding new adventures or extending the path, but I want to fill the path with more events and items. I want every run to be different from the others. One thing I was thinking about is to not reveal the end boss just like that, but make it something the player has to work out himself, as a little sidequest, somehow.

I will follow up your advise and remove the choice group headings and those of each weapon and item inside the inventory, but leave the category headers.@105, I have put the tabs at the top in  tags, assuming screens reads would do something with that. Are you saying it would be helpful if I'd add a header saying 'navigation' or something there as well? And thanks for the live region suggestion, that looks very interesting! Improve stat rendering so screen readers read them correctly, and they can be skipped easier3. I'm putting all this kind of feedback on a list and will try to fix it in one big accessibility update.And yes, @87 is right, when the bare hands is dimmed, or any other weapon for that matter, it means its attack is too low to deal damage. An attack mushroom, or casting a love spell on your enemy might change this

Thanks for all the support guys, that's really great!The update for iOS just went live. It's a small one, but it might clarify what's going on when the purchase button doesn't respond. When pressed, it now says "working on it" and that - from my own experience - can take up to a minute, before the system finally kicks into action. Hope it helps a bit.

@76, everything from iOS 9 is supported, so that shouldn't be a problem. I have submitted an update to Apple yesterday that makes sure the purchase button gives some feedback as soon as it is pressed, so at least you know you pressed it. But it looks like there's something else going on with the buttons not responding. Perhaps your screen reader tech is conflicting with the game's UI? I don't have a clue, to be honest. This sounds dumb, but did you try closing the game and starting it again? Your progress will be saved.@77, the game is entirely in English. Unless your screen reader has an automatic translation built-in, you'll have to stick with English. In fact, when I tested it, it was switched to Dutch and it would read the game in English, with a very strong Dutch accent. I wouldn't recommend it

@Aaron, sorry to hear you're having trouble with the purchase. It's not necessary to first complete the trial; you should be able to unlock in the main menu at any time. You can also start a new game, and then hit the pay wall and unlock it there. I have no clue yet as why it wouldn't work. It's a normal button that should be pressed just once and which fires off an event to the OS to initiate the purchase procedure. All I can think of is, maybe your internet connection is weak, or maybe the game is not fully available in all regions. But I doubt that, really. What I'm going to do is, I will add some feedback to tell the user the button was pressed and that the game is waiting for the OS to do its magic. Then at least you know you pressed the button right.@63, thanks! Glad you like it.@dark thanks for the review in the store! Looks like you're getting the hang of it. I wouldn't go full in on a single stat, no matter the end boss, but would grow that stat a bit more than the others. You're right about the RNG god, I have had very different games as well. Sometimes you would never find a mushroom, but for example many spells, and another game this can be completely different. Personally, I like that.About the breaking weapon warning... that's so stupid of me... there is a warning, but it's only visual. I'll add it to the list of other screen reader improvements that I want to do. Thanks for letting me know!

The resurrect purchase is there mostly for the people that just want to reach the end or unlock another character. You don't have to use it, of course. And I would have made it cheaper if I could, but Apple only lets me pick whole prices, starting with 1$. Except for certain countries.

Yes, itch.io would be my preferred way of selling something like that. But, you can't just run a html package; you'll need to run a local webserver. And although there are tools that wrap up a site with a web server, it still takes time to make and maintain such a package.About iOS, I have submitted the game to Apple! Like you say, the problem with a browser build is how do you monetize it. Setting up a payment service would create a lot of overhead. I'll dig a bit deeper in doing a windows build, because it shouldn't be such a problem.

Wow, you guys are excited, haha. Awesome! And some good news, the iOS version is ready to be released; as far as I'm concerned. It's now being tested by some friends and when they approve, I have to send it to Apple, who's going to review it and either approve or disapprove it. So wish me luck By the way, if anyone here wants to test it for screen readability, send me a PM and I'll send you an invite for beta testing. The built-in iOS screenreader seemed to do a good job at least.@Dark, haha, yeah, the babe with the power!I think it's good that Apple keeps a close eye on quality. What I don't like, though, is that they force developers to use some serious buggy tools and environments. Worse thing that happened was a form that simply said 'there are errors', not specifying what the error was. Took me a day to find out that, in fact, the error was I used a @hotmail address... But then again, Android has its flaws too.@Honk, thanks for that excellent video! Does a perfect job of explaining all the pros and cons of the different systems. Very useful!

@27 haha, yeah those indies do love their nostalgia. I try to make the game not too hard, or at least, build up steadily, but difficulty is one of the hardest parts of game design, I've come to discover. When it's too easy, it get's boring very quickly. Especially with the turn-based nature of the game. Glad to hear you got the hang of it after all!And thanks for that insight! When I listen to the screen reader I get lost so quickly. I know it's probably because I'm not trained in it, but still, you all have my respect  When I have a bit more time, I will try to improve it further, though, because I think it should just work properly. Hi Honk, it's true that RNG plays an important role in this game. This is indeed quite oldskool, but there are more (indie) games these days that follow this design. Thanks @19; I really appreciate all the feedback This morning I had a shot at improving the way certain values for stats are read by talkback. So for example, it would say "attack: 3 up to 5", instead of "attack: 3 minus 5". Unfortunately, that proved to be quite a hassle. I think it can be done, but it would take some more time, so I'm going to leave that for now.

@KenshiraTheTrinity, my plans for the game are as follows: first, an iOS version; I have started on that today. Then, I want to add more variety to the game. More events, enemies, items, that sort of thing. I feel the game is still a bit too repetitive. I like your ideas; I put them on the list! About the score, that might be a good idea, indeed. The idea of the current system is that you sell everything at the last merchant that you expect don't need in the castle. For example, I've heard from a player that always sells his Ring of Life, because it doesn't work in the castle anyway.@darkblade 98, You already got some great tips from KenshiraTheTrinity. I want to add one more: as a Rogue, don't be too scared to take a few hits. That way you save your shield for a later time, and the Ring of Life can heal you. Also, the stat that you want to develop mostly, is based on which end boss is waiting for you at the castle.

Thanks @KenshiraTheTrinity for checking that out. I downloaded and tried Google talkback and had the same problem with the buttons. It seems like the buttons work, but their position is all messed up. When I tap "Inventory", it switches to "Character" and stuff like that. But, if I'm the only one with that problem, I'm going to ignore it for now and see if I can lay my hands on another device to test with.As for the icons, I fixed it. It will be part of the next update, coming somewhere this week. If you'd like, you can see if it works on your system by trying the web demo, which is already updated. I'm glad I could squeeze this fix into the update, but when the iOS version is done, I want to dive a bit deeper into this subject. There are some things I noticed that can be improved. Hello! Developer here. Thanks @1 for posting about Path of Adventure!To answer @4, I doubt this game will work on an e-reader, at least: I never tested it. The good news is, I am planning an iOS port, which should be coming soon!I'd like to add that I'm eager to improve the game for visually impaired people. As I am pretty new to this subject, I would appreciate your feedback. I will look at the issue with the icons for the stats as soon as possible. Please let me know if there is anything else.When I try to test it on my Galaxy S6, I can't find Google TalkBack, only 'Voice Assistant'. Is that the same? And does pressing buttons work for you? Because it doesn't for me, but in other apps it does...
