There have been some small technical improvements over the years but I am not a big believer that DAC's have improved significantly in the last 10-15 years. What has changed recently is there is a number of very good value priced dacs that come close to matching much more expensive DAC's. I

If your budget allows $1000, then I would not hesitiate in getting the Lavry. I auditioned a DAC-60 next to my Lavry and I'd take the Lavry any day. The DAC-60 was nice and is a good deal for the price, but in my opinion the Lavry is in another league. -Ben -- Ben Diss 'SB3'

Hello, You may want to check out the Paradisea DAC hand-built in Taiwan and sold only on e-bay. $530 shipped to the US. http://www.geocities.com/mhdtlab/ Tube buffer and damn nice sounding DAC. It can be hard to get though. You have to watch e-bay and grab it fast as they go fast. --
