I found a birth for Antonio da Costa, son of Jose da Costa and Maria de Jesus,
on Nov 19, 1912. They lived at 200 Alden St., Fall River. If this is him, you
can get the birth certificate at the Fall River City Hall.

Sam, The largest newspaper in RI is the Providence Journal, www.projo.com.
They have an archives, but it is no longer free to search. The Providence
Public Library has newspapers back to at least 1940, but only on microfilm. If
you know actual dates, the RI State Archives has birth and
Dartmouth FHC does not have that digital printer. There are not enough patrons
to be able to buy one. The FHC in Warwick, RI has one. It should be able to
print a document or copy to a disc, but you will have to call them to find out.

My brick wall is my grandmother, Maria do Rosario born 11 Sep 1893 to Jacintho

Jacintho's parents were Manoel Furtado (b. Achada) and Jacinta Cabral (b.
Pedreira).
I found a record on Ancestry for a Manoel Correia Tavares, age 21, arriving 26
March, 1902 to join his uncle Antonio de Mello, 102 Mosher St., New Bedford,
Ma. The passport application dated Feb 17, 1902 shows Manoel Correia Tavares,
age 21, son of Manoel Correia and Anna Izabel(?) from
If you live in the Massachusetts area, the FHC in Dartmouth has most if not all

Rosario there. They are open Friday nights 6:30 to 9:30 and Saturday 10:00 to
2:00. I go every week and the people are very helpful.

incorrectly. Maybe it is just that the writer can't spell what they hear
correctly if they are not Portuguese. I have a hard time with the Portuguese.
I can read, but not understand the spoken.
