Hi,
If I'm not mistaken, Sao Roque is the next town just east of Ponta Delgada
along the waterfront. I think that one of the areas is called Rosta de Cao.
We drove through there on the way to Povoacao.

When I was in Ponta Delgada last year I was at the convent where the Santo

being curious I walked in and there was a sign Roda . It was incredibly
emotional as my grandmother was exposto and was born in Ponta

Hi Nancy,
I usually take several hundred euros with me. My local bank does the
dollar to euro exchange and they withdraw the amount from my account. You'll be
using euros the entire time that you are there for food, transport, etc. so I
found it convenient to have them on hand. Also,
Linda,
You might try FamilySearch.org. I have had great luck in finding births,

Hi Linda,
I'm sorry to say that I was not successful. The young girl at the
archives said that it would be very difficult to find info on someone who had
pais inognito. I searched through several books and she wasn't in any of
them. Although the archives has an incredible

I also think that it says pais incognito. My grandmother's application said the
same thing. I was told that her parents who raised her were foster or
adoptive parents and that she was an illigitimate child.

Hi group,
I hope someone can help me in my quest. On my grandmother's Francisca J

as pais inognito. It is thought that the Almeida name was that of her foster or
adoptive parents.

Check out casamariadedeus.com. I'll be staying there for five nights in August.
It is next to the church in Povoacao. Very reasonable and homey. You'll love
it. George Pacheco has stayed there also and loved it. Joanne

I'll be there in August. Staying with Maria for five nights and then moving

there.

The site is http://pg.gov.pt/drac/cca/ig/passaportes/default.aspx ? Click on
passaportes and then click on the years that you think are correct. There is no
easy way to do this. You have to look at all the names and years. I'd start
with 1908 and then check 1907 and 1909. It's much

It looks like natural son (first of the name) of Anna Victorina Reis and Joao

last name is Silveira? Never mind. I

Hi Toni,
SATA flies out of Boston on Tuesdays and Fridays. They are late
flights, take about four hours and with the time change, you arrive in Ponta
Delgada early morning.( about seven o'clock if I remember correctly.) The
return trips to the U.S. are also on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The name is usually spelled as Pavao. Hope this is helpful. On some census
