Wow, I'm glad it's a bug and not something permanent! I'll try to find out
what is happening.

Indeed...
Just to clarify:
1. Microfilms will no longer be orderable on a FHC - last day is August 31st (9
days from now). Presumably, they won't throw them away, at least maybe

Maria Elena,
I'm not LDS but I am a Librarian at my local FHC and I can *not* access the
digitized records! Even though the error message says that the records are
available through participating libraries. While I'm in SLC I plan on
checking on this problem as I wrote to SLC about it and never
João is correct. Some records can only be viewed from a FHC. It doesn't
matter if you have a FamilySearch account or not. If you are not accessing
them from a FHC, you won't be able to see them.

Also, the Church, in a few weeks
Also, the Church, in a few weeks or so, will stop all ordering of all
microfilm. Thus, the only way to view such is: 1) If it is on
FamilySearch; or 2) You visit Salt Lake City if any of your local FHCs
don't have it in their permanent file.

This was the last I heard on the subject as well. The Church cannot put up
any indices, books, documents without permission from the owner of the
records is something I heard well over 20 years ago. Not sure if that is
still true today

No, I'm talking about the church records (baptism, marriage and obits).

This is terrible news.
The Portuguese archives are not available from FamilySearch
Joao, I forgot to mention, if you are in your local FHC, just ask one of
the LDS people to get you into the site with the Azores Records and then
you can search. It is very slow-going and tedious but sometimes looking at
the black on white is easier to read than the scanned docs on the CCA. At
Joao,
You can still order the film for a few more weeks. *If *they have extra
copies they will send them to you, they *will not* make new copies. The
next problem is, will your local FHC allow you to keep them on permanent
loan. My FHC has the room so they will allow me to keep what I have on
This is terrible news.

those with LDS accounts or some rare cases like Braga or Coimbra.

My understanding is that the Azorean Govenement must enter an agreement
with Family Search to allow the indexing to begin. I don't know if any such
agreement was made. Last I heard, negotiations between the Azorean
government and Family Search broke down. I don't know if any attempts have
