You didn't mention census, but when I started, I used to make photocopies of
them. There was no other way back in the day. Now, as
I keep everything I have in a three ring binder in plastic sleeves.

I have ran into the same issue as you and everyone might be doing. I am
not sure what to do with all the documents I am collection. I have done a
couple of things. One, I save what information I get into my family tree
program that I use and put the information under that person

I'm doing this with shortened URLs (or tiny URLs) so the long hyperlinks
don't go into people's spam folders.
All information from Dick Eastman about various media and ways to store your
data. Bottom line: Multiple copies all over the place. Mother Nature
doesn't care about our genealogy.
Jesse, I really hope you're also backing up those files on a flash
drive or CD. Two years ago my hard-drive crashed with no warning. I
had nothing backed-up. Two different computer companies tried to
retrieve my files (including family pics) with no success. I finally

worth regarding paper copies. My maternal side of the family (Italian,
English, Irish, etc) maintain surnames from one generation to the next, so I
simply file by surname. My paternal side (Azorean) doesn't seem to
