DIRECTIONS:
Algonquin Provincial Park is three hours north of Toronto, via Highways
400, 11 and 60. Follow the signs which start in Toronto on Highway 400.
From Ottawa, take Highway 17 to Renfrew,
20 Tundra Swans at Hwy 7 and North Rd. North of Whitevale. They are feeding in
the cornfield in Northwest corner.

Today around noon I was walking my dogs through Thomson Park when I saw an
unusual bird perched on a branch over the creek. I studied it for a while to
put its appearance to memory. When I got home and looked it up it had the
exact appearance of an adult male Ringed Kingfisher. I went back
Ken Burrell and Andrew Dean just found a Bewick's Swan at Ridgetown Sewage
Lagoon. Their bird was in the company of several Whistling Tundra Swans.
Bewick's Swan is the old world subspecies of Tundra Swan and is a very rare
migrant to Ontario.

At 3 pm on Friday, a flock of approximately 50 Bohemian Waxwings was feeding
on crabapples between 175 and 177 Ramona Blvd in Markham. This is in the
same area of Markham indicated by Stan Long earlier in the week. They headed
north at approximately 3:20.
