Want to see 3 months go by in a hurry? Go sit on Hawk Hill (in High Park) every
day from Sept. 1 to the end of November and try to pay attention to everything
that happens. Sounds like a slow drag, doesn't it? Well, what happened to me,

This afternoon between 4:15 and 4:40 pm I counted 1,375 American Robins flying
west into the brisk westerly wind along the north shore of Wildwood Lake just
east of Highway 7. Unbelievable!
Equally interesting was a distinctly (but only slightly) darker-mantled Herring

Around 2:00 p.m. today, a pair of Sandhill Cranes were seen foraging in a harvested carrot field on the north side of Ravenshoe Rd. in Georgina, about 1.5 to 2 km west of Leslie St. Not sure how long they will stay, but would be nice if more joined them, as there is plenty of good foraging

Hi Everyone,
For any winter listers out there, the first winter male western sandpiper
is still at the Blenheim Sewage Lagoons. It was first seen there on
November 13th and has been seen most (but not every) days since. It was
with 11 dunlin today on the mudflat in the last pond on the right.
Hey,
There are still two basic-plumaged Dunlin on Pittock's east end mudflats, about
500m west of the Innerkip Road bridge - only my 2nd Dec. record for Oxford.
Other semi-rares [for Oxford for the date] include a Horned Grebe, three DC
Cormorant and 7 Cackling Geese. Yet another Common Raven

There is relatively little change in the birding situation compared with
last week, but mild temperatures and rain have greatly reduced the snow
cover that we had.
