the pond lies just north of Hwy 407 on Reesor Road south of Hwy 7 in Markham -

ONTBIRDS is presented by
Between 5:30 and 9:30 a.m. 1226 Whimbrels migrated past Whimbrel Point in
Colonel Sam Smith Park, Toronto. They came in from Lake Ontario in flocks
ranging in size from 5 to 210, vocalizing as they flew.
Also seen 350 Dunlin and 30 Semipalmated Sandpipers.
We counted 81 migrating Common Loons.
Twenty-seven people attended a half day trip to explore three areas of the Lac
Deschênes IBA in Ottawa. (Lac Deschênes is essentially a widening of Ottawa
River.)
Our first stop was the “Nortel” marshes which we accessed by walking 500 m west
along the Trans Canada trail/bike path that starts

cell.
Lots of other shorebirds to enjoy.
Hillman Marsh is just North of Point Pelee.

I headed out to Reesor Pond during lunch today and easily saw the Whimbrel
previously reported by Stan Long, there were 3 birds on the more northerly
spit (on west side of pond), also here was a beautiful breeding plumaged
Great Egret (long plumes flowing in the wind).

There is a flock of 120+ whimbrel on the west end of the south beach across
from Erieau. We saw them from the boat but they should be visible from the
Erieau side of the channel.
Take exit for Hwy 40 to Blenheim. At the traffic light turn right, go
through town and continue to Erieau Rd. Turn
I had great, prolonged looks at the singing Kentucky Warbler in the Parrott’s
Bay C.A. west of Kingston this morning, Monday May 26.
It does seem very territorial, chasing away other small birds from the area.
It was moving around a bit, but stayed about 5 metres up in the deciduous trees

Today Margaret Liubavicius and I headed down to The Islands for one more kick
at the can down there until about mid-August and the fall migration.
Along with the Connecticut Warbler and Black-billed Cuckoo we also came up with
a Mourning Warbler and 10 other species of Warbler including

The 3 Whimbrels originally reported by Stan Long today were still at Reesor
Pond when I arrived there about 7:20 P.M. However, at 7:36 P.M. they lifted off
and did not look like they were coming back. Other shorebirds were 2
Semipalmated Plovers, 2 Killdeer, 4 Spotted Sandpipers, about 50

One flock of 19 Whimbrels in fly. Hundreds of Dunlins, several flocks, the
biggest well over a hundred was at the SE end. Semipalmated Plover 6 on small
island on the bay together with Dunlins. Semipalmated Sandpiper several between
Dunlins. I have met one lonely Dunlin, with
