I think the instructions are not similar.
It is only listed for Mousepad-0.4.0, which has also listed
gtksourceview-3.16.1 as alternative, thus, not really required to be in
the book, but I may be wrong. ISTR Bruce gave a reason for keeping it,

Are you using tar -tf or 'tar -vtf? Perhaps an alias tar = tar -v?

My firdt problem with gcc-5:
Mesa failed to build. Found the problem, apparently already fixed. Made
a patch, and all chunks were already part of llvm.
After llvm rebuilt, now with gcc-5, mesa problem disappeared.
Don't know if, where, how include something about this in the book.
