Faster rates means wider transmission bandwidths, which means less room for
others on our HF bands.

Noob question (I'm a new ham):
Why do we not like the faster rates? From the outside looking in, it seems
like more lax rules would benefit us. What am I missing?

YES….JT and the other tech wizzards have shown us how to sniff information out
of mud 5-feet thick. I hope they come up with new and amazing ways to move
rivers of bits really fast.

Furthermore, this was extensively addressed when ARRL proposed it less than a
year ago. Even hard core narrow bandwidth people don’t want to stifle
technology, so the counter proposal was to give wideband part of the SSB
sections or equal amounts from upper CW/Data and SSB. Of course ARRL, the
Oh boy, noobs in a minefield.
The reality is that Amateur Radio has become largely an idle pursuit of
comfortable geriatric men. I take no joy in noting that, I’m only acknowledging
the situation. At 61, I’m no spring chicken myself. One thing about the
geriatric that’s notable is our almost
Faster means wider band with. Where will it be taken from? SSB/ CW / DIGITAL,
of which none wan't to give up any spectrum. That is the issue.

Equal parts I might go for.
However, have you ever heard a real spread-spectrum signal? No, and you won’t
because they lurk in the background noise. Military does this frequently on
80m, and you almost need a SDR to spot the noise floor going up ever so
slightly.

I know many of you are still working on recovering from Hurricane Harvey. I
will try and keep the meetings short to just get everyone back to their
cleanup. We have to do some basic housekeeping for club business and Hamfest
preparation.
See you tomorrow

Guys
Plans have changed slightly for Sat considering the possibility of rain in the

There is no reason for concern now. FCC says temporary and I see no reason to
think otherwise. If there is a problem after 60 days, let's deal with it then.
Why worry over nothing now ?? Too many other things going on to worry about
without adding more for no current reason.
