Hi
There are well over 100 Turkey vultures along Stevenson Road, many in the air
and many more perched on the solar panels and fence posts around the solar
farm.

Pete,
I saw a small kettle (5 birds) when I was walking my dog in the field near

When I drove into Auburn going to Wegmans this morning, there was a kettle of
25 or more TVs soaring . I’m three miles east of there and just had a group of
10 TVs go over. I’m used to seeing just a few at a time going over. What’s

This afternoon at about 5pm I saw about 200 Turkey Vultures circling over the
vicinity of NYS-34/96, Decker Rd, and NYS-13 south of Ithaca near the Newfield
Town Line. Earlier in the day I had seen smaller numbers southbound along the
east edge of the Cayuga Lake Valley in Lansing. This
From the pool at Island Health I watched streams of the vultures going
south over west hill between 3 and 3:30.

If anyone wants to see Turkey Vultures, just stop by the Seneca County
Fairgrounds (Not the Lott Farm!) in the village of Waterloo (North Rd/Swift
St). There are about 100 that roost in the morning & evening on the village
water tower and any available pole/post on the fairgrounds.

Hi Sara Jane,
For at least the past 3 years, there have been TUVU's roosting during the
fall behind the Varna Community Center, in some tall conifers. I get
neighbors calling me about it every year with a mixture of wonder and
frustration.

I was just coming through Varna when I had to pull over and stop the car,
because there were about 25-30 TV’s soaring overhead, just above the rooftops.
There were enough to be looking for a ‘road-kill’, but I imagine they were
either settling down for night or trying to get an updraft.

Hi all, there is a little cloud of about 25 turkey vultures over the pheasant
farm at the moment, along Stevenson Rd in Ithaca. Another seven were perched on
fences closer to Turkey Hill Road. Where were they all on January 1? Also lots
of red tails although I haven't done a count yet.

Hi all,
Turkey vultures in this stiff west wind are enjoying themselves I think. They
are flying across the wind at 90 deg and falling a free fall and then arrest
themselves and again dribble down in the wind and back. So it is such fun to
watch their behavior over computer screen.
As for
On my way back from Cortland this afternoon I drove Turkey Hill Rd. to the
house, on seeing a few TV's I pulled over to scan. I counted 141 in 25 minutes
along with 3 Red-tailed Hawks. All appeared to be south bound migrants catching
the tail end of clearing weather. This may bode well for sky
My favorite harbingers of spring, besides the robins and flocks of
red-winged blackbirds visiting my yard, are the pair of turkey vultures
that return to the lean-to along Route 79 in Slaterville Springs (just west
of Midline Rd). I saw them sitting on the listing shack this afternoon.

Since that lean-to was a beautiful barn LOL!

Reports came out of the woodwork about Turkey Vultures hanging around
our area all winter. This shows I don't get out and do much birding
during the winter months. It's far more comfortable looking out our
kitchen windows.
I still would like any thoughts you may have about true migrants
I agree Sunday was a good migration day for Turkey Vultures. At about 1pm I was
near the Lab entrance looking at the western skyline beyond the pond, and I
watched a near-continuous line of them flying south, about 60 all told. They
were gliding and gradually losing altitude, and when they got

Yesterday as I worked in my yard I spotted a south bound TV. As I watched it
turned into a river of as many 30 TVs migrating past. I had guests who were
spellbound by all the birds. It's the first time I've spotted a large group
migrating through.
I had a very unusual new yard bird the

I had the good fortune of seeing the biggest kettle of TVs ever (for me) as

I looked for Black Vultures but did not

By the time I got to Myers around 10:00 am, I saw at least 102 TV's. I

many more TV's traveling south. What a great day!
