Been about six or
seven flocks of mixed black birds. One turkey vulture and two ravens have flown

weather stations reporting of wind direction and what I am seeing in the sky
above me. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Ben. That is the most plausible explanation. The question then becomes,
at which altitude do the daytime winds that migrants (geese, raptors) depend on
occur? I would think the high altitude winds, given the lack of goose
migration today.

Subject: eBird Report - White Church Valley , 5/30/10
Location: White Church Valley
Observation date: 5/30/10
Notes: This list was generated while biking (no stops) from Hunt Hill Rd,
to Ellis Hollow Rd. through
many species as Mark Chao,
but I did see two WILSON's WARBLERS, one in each flock. The darkness of the
black cap was different between the two, so I'm confident they were different
birds.
Tomorrow morning could be interesting!

Then I was pleasantly surprised to hear and then see a RAVEN , which circled
over the woods 5 or 6 times while calling.

Hi,
There were 4 PINE SISKINS at our feeder on Hunt Hill Rd, east of Ithaca, this
afternoon around 2:30 pm. Also, several PURPLE FINCHES (they've been coming
for about 2 weeks), RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH (1) and lots of squirrels.

quite far out in the lake. There were probably many more.
Nice day!

Here's a link to the Cayuga Bird Club's "resources" page, which lists several

Hi all
There was a Northern Shrike on Ellis Hollow Creek Rd., on the telephone wire
just east of the intersection with Turkey Hill Rd. at 12:33 this afternoon
(Thursday). I believe somebody reported a possible shrike at that location last
week. It was quite visible and active!

around, but one in particular was on a low stump alongside Game Farm Rd. It may
have been injured - it did not fly when we crept up for a photo - also on this
