After getting a call from Steve Stachowiak, (as I had missed the email re:
Mlodinow's great find) I hustled out to Last Chance passing Joey, Steve and
Paul(?) going the other way. Joey called to tell me where the bird was so I
pulled in near the mail boxes at about 6:10 pm with the weedy

At Last Chance today, there was a HERMIT WARBLER, likely immature female, kitty
corner from the rest stop, feeding on the ground under some sunflowers. It may
have flown over to the rest stop after Cathy Sheeter and I left. The
BLACK-THROATED BLUE, present for several days, was

A cooperative Philadelphia Vireo was present late this morning in west Fort
Collins, in the green space along the canal between West Lake St and Prospect
St just west of Cedarwood Road. I will post photos later today. There may have
been 2 vireos. It spent most of its time in a yellow-leafed H

Belmar Historic Park in Lakewood, Colorado, has been featured in the
birding news of late,
as it has been hopping with warblers and other fun birds. Over many years
no one has "worked this patch" as much as one of Lakewood's stalwart
birders, Karlene Schofield. Karlene has

A "western" Palm Warbler is still present at Belmar Park, Lakewood as of
1030, Mon., 10/8. It was seen in pines between Kountze Lake and the
smaller pond to the west. A small flock (15-20) Yellow-rumps (both

Folks- I was awakened from a light afternoon backyard siesta yesterday by
hummingbird chip notes. Without bins, camera, or glasses all I could
ascertain was that the bird appeared to lack warm flank coloration and
seemed to be short billed. I retrieved my optics and got pics of what
