I made a short visit to Dixon Reservoir this morning. It was not overly
birdie, nothing like yesterday at Crow Valley. However, I did find 32
species including 6 warbler species - Yellow, Yellow-rumped, 2
Orange-crowned, 3 Wilson's, 1 Blackpoll and 1 MacGillivray's. I also saw 1

chatted a bit.) I saw an additional two warbler species , a Black-throated
Gray Warbler (photos) and Common Yellowthroat, taking the observed tally to

The El Paso side of Chico Basin Ranch (fee area) had some nice birds for my 2nd
Arkansas Valley Audubon field trip this week. The Pueblo side of the Ranch,
was kind of quiet, without anything too noteworthy. A total of 88 species of
birds on the Ranch today, for my group. 11 species
1530: Looked out my window and saw a strange little bird flitting around,
finally got good looks at it and to my surprise a Blackpoll warbler! Haven't
seen one of these since the 80s in the midwest. I chased the bird around with
my camera and got some lousy pix. Then up popped a Western

Today (5/16) I noticed a small yellow bird skulking in long grass in our yard.
It turned out to be a Kentucky Warbler. Birders looking for/at the Kentucky
also found a Northern Waterthrush and a Swainson's Thrush, both new for our
yard list. The bird was last seen about 1:30

I rode my bike to McMurry Natural Area and saw a bright Blue-headed Vireo
at 6:30 pm foraging in a box elder. I observed it for 10 minutes gleaning
leaves about 10 feet west and south of the parking lot. Other birds
observed were Dusky Flycatcher, Orange-crowned Warbler, Yellow Warbler,
