they are pretty uncommon in western Colorado, including Northwestern Colo.
Question: Last year I had reported a colony of Great Blue Herons on this ranch
property - on the Elk River. A birder from that area
Staying with friends on their ranch west of Steamboat Springs, I ws surprised
to see two Eastern Kingbirds hop up on the wooden fence outside their deck.
They were beautiful and our hosts were delighted. They have Western Kingbirds,
but this ws new.
Maybe is is not unusual for them to be
It's Saturday and as I was driving north on Colorado Boulevard I was distracted
by white somethings in the sky. Colorado Blvd. on a Sat. morning is not a good
a place to be distracted. Luckily, I hit a red light and was able to observe
six or seven White Pelicans circling Cherry Creek

I stopped by City Park yesterday (Saturday), looking at trees FULL of Cormorant
nests. After looking and looking, finally found the
owl nest (Great-horned) about half way up one of the trees covered with
Double-crested Cormorant nests. LOTS. She was on the nest, seemed to be
moving
I have to add to this Stadium Birds discussion. Years ago, at the old Bronco
Stadium, I had fun watching Common Nighthawks swooping down into the stadium
and hawking insects - which were being attracted by the bright lights. (Do
nighthawks hawk?)

were delayed out in front of my building, listening to the 'fitz-bew' coming
from across the street up on an antenna. Watched the bird fly-catching, then
