Grosbeak come through my yard. Only the second one on record in the yard.

At 5pm I was in CCSP at Cottonwood Pond:
Unable to locate the Hudsonian Godwit reported couple hours earlier.
Several folks there looking in different areas of the park. One area I
think was not covered later was the areas south from the Pond along
Cottonwood Creek.
Other notables found at
Just observed a single mountain Chickadee at the feeders this evening.
Also had a dozen or so Juncos this last week (pink sided, oregon, slate
colored)...Water seems to be the biggest attraction for these guys.

Was pleasently surprised by a single Sandhill crane in the park around 5pm.
It flew up out of the tall grasses about 150 yds east of the Cottonwood
pond. It circled several times and headed off to the north.

I was passing County Road 887 and Hyw 50 (19miles east of Gunnison) when I
spotted a very dark raptor sitting on a fence post just off the highway. As
I turned around and pulled onto the dirt road, the bird took off. It was an
Ovenbird near Quincy and Tower in Aurora
So for anyone questioning my Ovenbird siting...myself included, it was back
this afternoon cruising around my whole yard. Photos as proof now. I have
had the joy of watching it for at least 30mins this time.

Knew I had something different scratching in the dirt, and first thought it
wa Northern Waterthrush as it was in the shadows. Got the binoculars just as
it came out into the light and there was no mistaking the orange crown,
FOS Osprey and Black Crowned Night Heron seen in the park today while
running. The osprey was flying south from the res with a fish, continueing
south out of the park.

I had a Northern Bobwhite at my feeders and water this morning at sunrise.
I assume it is the same bird reported back in December and was first seen,
as the bobwhite flies, about 150yards from my feeders. This is the first
time I have noticed it, but it's actions around my yard and the water
Bonny birding was rewarding today with 35 species seen. Weather was 50's
with a strong wind out of the north. Even with the heavy winds, the birds
were pretty active.
The three best birds today:
- Red Crossbill - single bird seen at Wagon Wheel Campground
- Northern Cardinal - single Male

I never reported my sighting from back in late June. In East Boulder county
I saw what I would have thought to be a Ringed Turtle Dove as it had the
white undertail coverts. I was reluctant to even mention this at the time as
the lighting was poor and I was taking a quick glance with some low

I watched the other day as the Great tailed Grackle present was courting a
female red winged blackbird...this went on for about 5 minutes. Interesting
behavior!
I also noticed that my two bushtits are back at my suet feeder. I am hoping
for a couple little
Birded cherry creek SP again...my usual locacation...today while watching my
friend in her Duathlon.

Today at 0730 I spotted the pair of Rusty Blackbirds immediately west of the
I-70 overpass. I was chatting with another birder who had not seen them,
when the pair flew into a tree just 20ft away. I got great looks. The only

Sounds like everyone saw lots of birds today
I had my head down in the dirt planting 1000 trees and bushes today instead
of scanning the skies. But I did take the time to locate a few birds at the
planting site on the western shore of Equalizer Lake.
-Ferruginous Hawk
-Osprey
-Bald Eagle
Unable to locate the Chestnut Collard Larkspur or the American Golden
Plover seen yesterday. I really tried to make all the Killdeer into
the Plover, but just did not work. The pond by the airplane park and
the new wetlands south of the pond were swollen 2-3 times their normal
size.
