My posts don't seem to get through lately. Would someone please just
comment if you see this?
What a waste of bandwidth. It would be much more efficient to ask for a
comment from someone who does NOT see it.

Are you or the article saying that Vista won't read files that are on the
camera? If it will display them, I can simply move them, right? Are you
saying that Vista won't recognize files from a camera plugged into a USB
port?
That may be what the other person is saying, but it's not true.
many cameras will need firmware/software upgrades to be Vista compatible and
some won't
work at all...
Just for the record, I have used six different cameras with Vista, and they
were all
compatible, including one that dates back to the previous century.
So, as usual, you left just a few bits out.
They mention that some major camera makers have no plans to upgrade their
cameras to work
with Vista.
They mention major camera makers? They mention Sigma. They don't mention
Canon, Nikon,
Olympus, Kodak, Sony, Pentax, Panasonic, Fuji, Casio, HP, or
lossy compression, decoding for
multiple
resolutions, minimal overhead for format conversions or transformations.
Excited yet?

My Olympus C-2100 is not on the compatibility list so as far as I am
concerned, Vista
don't work.
The current version of the software for your 7-year old camera is
Vista-compatible, and
free. I guess you didn't bother to check the Olympus site?

You know that eventually they will make it impossible for you to stay with XP
I'm not quite clear on this. Are we saying that MS should continue to sell both
XP and

I don't think that you can run Vista and XP at the same time, unless you use

STAY TO THE TOPIC!
Exactly. Your response to the member's question was NOT on topic. It was just
more MS
bashing. The question was, should I upgrade from XP to Vista?; your response
was that
(a) MS needs the money and (b) hasn't had an original idea in years. How,
exactly, is that
on topic?
This list has always included comments like Tom's. Maybe since he
started the list.
Maybe so, but that doesn't mean we have to like it, or it has to be that way
forever. I
have no problem with Tom saying whatever he wants, but it sure would be nice if
it were

Why?

I didn't say that all things come from Apple. I did imply that MS has not

Speculation had MS rushing this to market to prevent people from claiming that
MS stole
the idea from Apple.
I don't really see how anyone could have done that, since the project has been
known about
for quite a while. For example, see this, dated March, 2005:

I understand why you might not need/want U3, but just for the record, U3 isn't
