We have the pasta maker for the mixer as well and my husband is usually the one
that makes the pasta. Pasta recipes are pretty standard across the board as far
as I'm aware for the dough. It's what you put in them or on the pasta that
makes the difference.

Descaling is the key. The harder your water is the more you have to descale it.
It does sound like that hers is going bad again. I have lost one due to not
descaling enough but the other one seems to be going strong at this point after
two years.
