Once in a while I need a file or two from the /debian/Incoming directory at
master.debian.org. Since they only have a five user anonymous ftp limit it's
very hard to access the site. Most of the time you can't get in.
It would be great if several mirror sites additionally mirrored

it will tell you what version of libc it is linked against.

Then ls -l /home/ftp/lib and see if you have the right version.

I have 96M of RAM, I use swap space of about 3 times my RAM.
The rule of thumb of three times RAM has always seemed highly
illogical to me. A machine with 8 mb probably needs much more than 24
mb, while one with 97 mb probably doesn't need any.

I thought that the name of the current product was Debian 1.31.

manpages should have 'gzip -9' run on them. However, some of the manpages
in my /usr/man directories are not gzipped. Should this be reported as
a bug? In the meantime, what should I do?

I agree that the 3x swap rule makes little sense on high end systems. A
guru friend of mine explained it as if the kernel needs to swap out
your memory it might have to swap the whole thing so you should plan for
that. He believes you should use 1.5x your RAM on high end sytems ( =

My disk space is full while I am installing packages by using
dpkg -i package.deb.
Then, I cannot access my original status, that is,
dpkg -l shows nothing.
The disk full is due to the log file created by configurating package.
After I delete the log file to get back my disk space,

there. I put them back where they belong. It still seems important that we
figure out what caused this (maybe this belongs in Debian developer...I can

Well first let me start by saying I love what I see so far (so much
that I am trying to figure out ways in contributing, ie Mirror
Site, codeing as soon as I learn more about Qt etc.). I have two
