of linux and have never seen it nor any unix operating system before now.
I've been using pc's since they came out (70's onward). The funny thing is,

graphical X setup. After your done you can just type startx to run X.

I have installed slink and am trying to mount my cdrom. To mount the cdrom, I

Kernel setup is that you go into windows and get the parameters of your
soundcard, such as IRQ, DMA, IO.
Then you recompile kernel, but enable the sound support and put in the
information you have for that specific card. If your card is PnP, you
compile sound as module and use isapnp. Otherwise,
isapnp is availible on debian site.
Its in the Admin directory of stable.

lines, which will give you certain parameters on the card.

Just get the new drive ready for Linux (partition and make fs)
Make a new directory on the drive,
and then just copy the /usr files into it.
Then edit /etc/fstab to indicate the new mount point.
Reboot to make sure it's all fine, and you are set.

have to have the kernel source package installed, it should be in
/usr/src/kernel-*/

Thats probably your ISP kicking you off. Mine has a 2 hour limit.
Try pppupd to get around no-traffic limits. For pure time limits... ?
pppupd doesnt do what I need, since my ISP has dynamic IP allocation.

I've , for whatever reason I had (dunno why I did this), deleted
/var/log/ppp.log
SInce then none of the plog messages appear. I know that plog gets the
data from ppp.log, but whenever ppp is working, it no longer seems to
write to ppp.log (doesnt create it/write to it when its created). Syslog
