wine1.4-common went away properly in raring. It's a transitional
package in precise but not for the traditional reason (a package
rename), but rather as a workaround to ensure the multiarch dependencies
work out correctly when upgrading from 10.04. While it contained no
files, it did have a
64-bit Wine no longer throws an error message every time it runs with
new libp11-kit-gnome-keyring:i386 package installed. Thanks!

I've been running into this on 12.04. The culprit seems to be
utouch.Geis:
Here's what the log looks like when running dbus-monitor. It looks like
there's 2 seconds between each one, until I suppose utouch gives up and
evince just launches.

As an update, I can't reproduce it anymore either, however I do
sometimes notice a very slight update lag if I do it quickly enough -
that is, the file that I rename from picture-1 to picture-2 briefly
displays picture-1 again before refreshing to picture-2

I have a near implementation of the executable-handler that we discussed
at UDS-Karmic. Java, Wine, et all shouldn't be opening these without
execute bit permission, however having executable-handler open them
would be an acceptable default as it doesn't actually run them. Right
now the current
User tests confirm this is live in a fresh install of Karmic. If the
first thing you do is try to open a restricted codec gnome-codec-install
will fail. Going to Software Sources and checking that everything is
checked will fix the problem.

Wanted to confirm this as a big issue. For me:
Opening a video starts it as blue. I go to nvidia-settings (proprietary
drivers) and see that Hue got set to -1000. I move it up to 0 and the video
looks normal. If I open a new video, everything goes blue again until I wiggle
the slider a bit.
This is still live (and very annoying) in Firefox for Karmic by the way.
Right click an image to save, go to the folder you want to save it to,
and start typing to rename it - your text will have no effect.

On karmic: open an archive with a .svg file in it, and drag the file
into an open nautilus window. Nautilus will crash before you can let go
of the mouse (and thus the copy never attempts). A workaround is to
first extract the file to the

Drag and drop a .svg from archive manager crashes nautlius
I encountered several, but here's one:
I have to go into the subfolder and then pick one of the .svg's.
Sometimes I have to hover for a while before the nautilus window will
die.

I was dragging and dropping a set of files from archive manager into a
window of my home folder.
I do have a few folders that, when open for a few minutes, seem to
reliably crash nautilus or make it hit 100% cpu and become unresponsive.
