Instead of loading help topic Panel Trash Manual in yelp, a message box with no title is raised, with the message: There was an error displaying help: The specified location is not supported The two different error message boxes (for the trash can, and for everything else) are also of different styles. I will attach images of each. Besides the information provided by the images, they also differ in that the message box for everything except the trash can appears in the taskbar, and the message box for the trash can doesn't. Note that clicking System Help and Support or clicking System About Ubuntu both still work fine, as does loading the help browser manually - by running the command yelp. + by running the command yelp or running the command gnome-help. I have tried, and failed, to reproduce this bug on a Maverick i386 system. I am unsure if I am reporting this bug in the correct package. However, the error messages seem to belong to gnome-panel. Yelp is not running - when the error messages are displayed. Perhaps I + should instead be reporting this bug in yelp (2.30.2-0ubuntu1), ubuntu- + docs (10.10.4), or gnome-user-guide (2.30.0+git20100403ubuntu2). This bug report is superficially similar to a bug report on Red Hat Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=595650) -- however, these are NOT the same bug, as in that bug, the problem was that gnome-panel 'Failed to execute child process gnome-help (No such file or directory)'. This issue is also a problem when using synergy for input device sharing, or virtual machines (see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=569830). In addition, there is a significant delay whilst the screen is locked, during which time input is still accepted and could be used maliciously. It is a security issue and should be fixed. I think the attitude of the gnome-screensaver team is clear from their FAQ: Why doesn't my screen lock when I'm logged in as root? gnome-screensaver will blank the screen but will not lock. [Bug 682102] Re: Brasero says Not enough space available on the disc even when data to be burned is well within the limits and Gnome-Baker burns the DVD all right.
I was desperate so even tried a reboot (and power cycle) but the problem persists. What is so puzzling is that it managed to record three DVDs initially. With first one I had slow burning speed issue which I resolved by fiddling with wodim and growisofs plugins priority as documented on the web (took me some time until I found there are two parallel configuration systems). Next two it recorded flawlessly so why all the sudden this space issue? I then installed k3b which works just fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682102 Title: Brasero says Not enough space available on the disc even when data to be burned is well within the limits and Gnome-Baker burns the DVD all right. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 673588] Re: Yelp fails to launch
I no longer experience this problem on my i386 Lubuntu Natty Alpha 1 system. Yelp now launches successfully (and runs smoothly). Presumably, some update (to something) fixed it. My system is now running yelp 2.30.2-0ubuntu1 (a later version than when I last tested it). Furthermore, I now *do* have xulrunner-2.0 installed (package version 2.0~b8+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu1). I don't recall that having been installed before (when I made my earlier comments to this bug report). But I didn't actually say I didn't have it, so I cannot be sure. I didn't install it manually, so if I really didn't have it at that time, then it must have been installed automatically as part of the installation or upgrading of some package (maybe yelp, maybe something else). The lubuntu-desktop package now depends on xulrunner-2.0. Since this bug was only happening on my Lubuntu system, perhaps that was an (accidental or intentional) fix for this. But I don't think so. The ubuntu-desktop package doesn't depend on (or even recommend or suggest) xulrunner-2.0. I wish I'd had the presence of mind to indicate in my earlier comments whether or not xulrunner-2.0 was installed on my system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to yelp in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/673588 Title: Yelp fails to launch -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 433504] Re: yelp crashed with SIGSEGV in rrn_info_get_categories()
I am experiencing this bug as well (yelp package version 2.30.1-0ubuntu1), on an Lubuntu Maverick amd64 system. This system was created by installing the lubuntu-desktop package on an existing Xubuntu Maverick amd64 system (so xubuntu-desktop is installed too), which was itself upgraded from Xubuntu Lucid amd64. So my system is much like K. Deniz Ogut's system--both systems are running Maverick, upgraded from Lucid. (In case it's relevant: I also have the ubuntu-desktop package installed, so that I can use the standard GNOME interface from time to time.) My locale is US English (UTF-8). It does not seem that this bug is locale-dependent. [Bug 433504] Re: yelp crashed with SIGSEGV in rrn_info_get_categories()
This bug appears similar to Bug 644025, except that in that bug, yelp loads (but displays invalid characters), and then crashes when the home button is clicked. (Inspection of the stack traces reveals the possible similarity.) This bug (and that one) also appear similar to the old bug 375986. That bug is filed against the package rarian, which provides /usr/lib/librarian.so.0 (see this bug's stack trace). [Bug 673588] Re: Yelp fails to launch
I just set up a Natty i386 command line system (using the Natty Alpha 1 i386 Alternate Install CD -- it's an option when you press F4 in the boot menu). Using aptitude, I updated the system, and then installed yelp (and its dependencies). I made lists of packages installed before and after the installation of yelp (with dpkg -l) -- I'll attach those lists. Then I installed openssh-server, logged in with ssh -X from another system, and ran yelp. It launched and did not crash, and once I installed ubuntu-docs, it even worked perfectly. (And xulrunner-2.0 was not one of the packages that was installed, at any point.) So: (1) You're not experiencing this bug anymore, since an update. (2) I'm not experiencing this bug anymore, presumably since some later update. (3) Installing yelp on a command-line system is functional, so if this bug is the result of yelp insufficiently declaring dependencies, then that's fixed too. Therefore, if you have no objection, I think we should mark this bug as fixed.

[Bug 657475] Re: touchpad pointer freezed at gdm
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We need some more information from you before we can start working on this bug. Please run the following command which will attach necessary information: apport-collect BUGNUMBER Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository with 'sudo apt-get install python- launchpadlib'. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to Change Non-Private data as it will be adding information to your bug report. If you are using an older release or cannot use apport please at least add the following information (pay attention to lspci's additional options): First run the following commands: 1) uname -a uname-a.log 2) dmesg dmesg.log 3) sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log 4) cat /proc/version_signature version.log then attach the files separately to the bug report (not pasted into comments or tar/zip-ed).
