I have a similar problem with a similar sized home folder in Ubuntu
13.10 x64.
I can't find any reference to rhythmbox if I launch dconf-editor or I
would try the workaround. rhythmbox is unusable on my system. I've tried
re-installing it to no avail.

As for nvidia-prime, that change makes sense in 14.04, where nvidia-

The behavior described in the previous comment is in use in current xflock4
script for Xfce desktop environment. By the way, I proposed a new xflock4
script that adds light-locker (available in Trusty) as an option for locking:

I prefer to not have the sidebar show as default but when I do want it, I have
to press F9 twice.
Further more the show sidebar option seems to behave strangely (which is
probably due to the same bug). Sometimes it's ticked even though the sidebar
isn't shown.

I have tried both front and rear analog jacks with the same result.

(In fact, I have recently recovered all my data after a laptop theft, thanks to
deja-dup).

I have the launcher set to reveal on the left side, with auto-hide.
When the launcher hides, full screen windows expand to the left edge,
but there is a strip of light gray exactly the size of the launcher
obscuring the windows below it.
