** Description changed:
Host: Ubuntu 18.04, Virtualbox 5.2.6
- Guest: Ubuntu GNOME 17.10 and 18.04
+ Guest: Ubuntu GNOME 17.10 and 18.04, using Oracle Guest Additions 5.2.4, or
5.2.7
The problem is the guest's screen almost freezes completely as soon as I
maximise any window in the guest
BertN45:
1) To advise, the scope of this bug report is only how the guest screen freezes
after maximizing a window when 3D acceleration is enabled. It is not about the
booting issue using Oracle Guest Additions 5.2.6. It is helpful if you file a
new report about the booting issue in a terminal:
Adrian:
1) To clarify, do you need to use radeon.dpm=1 for a reason or are you
just testing it to see if it does anything different?
2) While using the latest mainline kernel, please attach dmesg and xorg
in their entierty only for the scenario of when using radeon.mst=1, and
please don't rename
More recent kernel updates fixed this issue, please close.

It happened after upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04. I did this when
prompted by Software Updater, so presumably it was the first version of
16.04 released through Updater. It didn't happen right after, or soon
after, that upgrade, and I don't think there were any updates to 16.04
in the days immediate
Christopher,
I could check the system right now.
It's working very well.
It's apparently solved.
Thank you very much for your attention.
