When is pkg-config needed? If you want to compile from source or if you
want to compile from the release artifact? Do we already do something

Something that's significantly different about the 3.4 and 3.5/master
Jenkins jobs is that 3.5/master has

that the paralyzation of the tests is causing the discrepancy.

Andor, you previously said
"None of the issues are showstopper for the RC, but let's fix them to get a
clean sheet."
Which meant to me that you are cutting a new RC, as such I haven't looked.
What's the plan?

-1 currently. On the plus side things seem to be functional and I tested
3.4 against this release in a mixed ensemble and it seemed fine.
I would recommend changing the name
from zookeeper-3.5.5-source-package.tar.gz to apache-zookeeper-3.5.5.tar.gz
- this is _the_ artifact. Everything else is a
Thanks for the submission David - I merged your PR today.

Sounds reasonable. Have you looked at what Yetus provides? iiuc a number of
the hadoop ecosystem projects use it to provide base/consistent experience
wrt the build. Now that we're on Maven perhaps we should re-evaluate?
re #8 - I don't think we should compromise given contrib is still not
"less problems"? TBH the maven job seems super flakey compared to what I'm
seeing with Ant, a step down. I submitted a PR and it's failed maven
multiple times with random failures:
https://github.com/apache/zookeeper/pull/962
are we doing something different between the two?

I don't believe we've updated it to include ZK, seems we need to go through
this process:

I haven't been involved with this before - anyone have experience with
this, perhaps on another ASF project?

Good idea. Agree on including anything we've postponed to a new cycle - the
patch from mapr is an obvious one to consider.
We should also look at things we've disabled by default and consider
whether we can turn them on by default. If not why not, and what can we do
to fix this in a subsequent
Narrowing this down to just the ZK folks.
We're currently discarding the builds after 90 days for both of the jobs.
Perhaps we can narrow down to 60? The PRs link to these builds, are they
valuable after that point (vs just retriggering the build if missing)?
I also notice that

What's the current status on maven replacing ant? Is there a current
summary somewhere? Perhaps someone could create a wiki page to track the
status across the three branches and plans/remainder for each?
I noticed today that even with the "full-build" profile it doesn't look
like maven is
